I love this shop so much! Great atmosphere, lovely staff and amazing coffee and bread. I had smoked salmon bagel. It was delicious. There were out side tables too! The toilet available.
Lovely place to get your bread and baked goods. It's all fresh. Had breakfast there. Very simple and delicious. They're hot chocolate is also worth trying as they two different flavours for it. I tried the one with hints of orange. It was very good.
This place is really good amd ambience is lovely. Little bit costly but cakes and bakery is too good. I love to come with my husband. Weekends are really good here

It’s not often that I give any eatery a 5 star rating but GAIL’s ticks all the boxes.
It’s clean, it’s airy, it has loads of natural light, the music is not obtrusive the staff are friendly and interested and then there’s the small matter of the food…
I think the photos speak for themselves! Highly recommended!
Difficult to choose everything looked so tasty and many choices both savory and sweet.
The place could have been more cozy but they probably don't want people to stay to long and guess most do to go.
My last review was written a few years ago, but I wanted to confirm after a thorough investigation: Gail's is definitely the best bakery in town. There are several very good Italian places, but the sourdough bread at Gail's is definitely much better.
------
You find Gail's bakery products in several places in town, e.g. in Waitrose, where it is a highly popular bread (nothing left later in the day). At Gail's they understood that the days of the soggy white 'old British' soft bread are gone, and people want the sourdough bread for all occasions, from toast, to croutons, to plain sandwich. Their range of sourdoughs is broad, and the bread is really well made. I wish they have commercial success without loss if the present quality.
The shop at the entrance to Grafton Centre sells all their breads, but also has a wide range of pastry, sandwiches, pies, and even carb-free salads: everything that goes with tea or coffee. Again, have to commend the quality: the chicken and porcini mushroom pie was divine, and the mini-sandwich with salmon and salty avocado butter too. The atmosphere is also great: the simple clean furniture, the airy high ceilings, and the stuff still happy and helpful even at the end of the day. A great positive energy, not your usual Starbucks... I hope the business rates won't kill this business: it's worth having them for a long time. I am glad their prices are at the high end - they do a great job and should not be selling it for cheap.
I've been to gails several times now and I really appreciate the fact that everything is made fresh and it is not just frozen and reheated food like other places and this def justifies the slightly higher prices. Once the milk in my coffee was burnt but they definitely care about their customers and see improvement everyday. Would highly recommend them and their cinnamon buns! Friendly staff and amazing food everytime! Glad there is another decent place to eat in Cambridge!
Amazing Bakery and fast service/ friendly and energetic staff. Tried some items and really enjoyed the taste and the freshness. Coffee was also amazing :) Love to visit again
Very good coffee, scones and croissant
I had walked past GAIL’s on Saturday and was drawn closer by the bread in the window and then when I looked through I could see lots of really nice looking food and friendly faces behind the counter too, at this point a friend and I already had coffees in hand so we said after we’d explored Cambridge a little more that we would return and get food - which we did.
The food is sooooo good - I had the Challah Knot with Harissa Chicken, a spinach and feta roll and a cookie - it tasty fresh and flavoursome - I’m definitely coming back here soon, might also have to bring friends with me so they can experience it for themselves too!
I'm in love with Gail's honey cakes, they are my absolute favourite! The sourdough and the coffee is top notch. All staff are super happy, welcoming, accommodating, helpful and polite. Ricardo is especially helpful and always goes the extra mile. He always takes time to ask how my day has been and makes sure I have pleasant visit. Seeing him really makes my day.
Stopped for a tea break (mid shopping is a must) and had the best Cinnamon Bun at Gails Bakery. A lovely cafe/bakery with friendly staff and many delicious cakes & pastries, but the Cinnamon Bun called to me. It lived up to its look and tasted absolutely delicious. It was soft and buttery with just the right amount of cinnamon sugar coating. Washed down with a cup of Earl Grey tea, i was very glad I stopped for a break and am looking forward to heading back to Gails soon.
Fabulous baked goods. Decent coffee.
There is a small outside seating area and a larger one indoors
More expensive than Starbucks, but better quality.

Popped in for takeout buns. Service was polite, and the cinnamon buns and Chelsea buns were very nice. A little sweet, but nice indulgence with black coffee.
When I did visit the bakery with my family , we did feel welcome, we did have a great service , from the person that did welcome us, did have a smile in her face, was pleasant when was talking with us, we did ask about what items did have spicy and the lady was able to identify the ones to us .
