Reviews Maharani

Haven't had a curry for awhile, and needed to find a new place to order a takeaway from. As my previous go to, is now a cafe instead. I decided to try Maharani after hearing good things. I ordered through their own website as it was a couple of £ cheaper than just eat/deliveroo. Delivery was approx an hour, came about 70mins after placing my order. Food was piping hot, which made up for the slight lateness. I ordered a chicken masala. I found the chicken slightly too dry, and there was approx about 5 pieces. To accompany the chicken, I had a mushroom rice. I was given a large portion. The plain naans were large thick and fluffy. Probably the best naan I've had in a long time. The mango chutney was quite nice too. Other than the dryness of the chicken, the price was good for the amount of food given. I would order again but I'd probably order slightly earlier because after reading alot of reviews it seems lateness is a recurring theme. I was lucky mine was just 10mins late and the food was still really hot.

This place has been our go to place for past 20 years, consistently great food and service. Price is very competitive too, considering cost of a basic fish and chips these days ! Highly recommend this place, owner is a lovely guy too! Open kitchen means that you can see the chefs at work! Everything is freshly made. Well done Maharani

Beautiful souls serving delicious Indian cuisine. Maharani is sincerely appreciated. Their fresh Indian cuisine (in a sit-down restaurant) would be double the price. We are truly fortunate to have them. (Always with their generous portions as well!) A jewel on Cherry Hinton road. Please support this local business! :)

Good food, friendly service. We get meals from here regularly and have never had a bad experience. Always order from the pub next door and collect on our way home - works a treat. Love the chicken sagwalla. Worth noting the portions are quite large.

My favourite classic English style Indian Takeaway! I have been getting a curry from this place on average once a month for the past five years. Before I go on you must understand that I love "proper or authentic Indian food". I have worked in India for several months and been to various parts of the country loving the food (it is one of the best cuisines of the world obviously). However, the English style Indian takeaway is not the same thing and it is a mistake to compare the two as they are totally different entities. Maharani offers huge portions of tasty, heavy and if you want spicy curries. Highlights for me are the Mazza chicken (with strong tandoori flavour) and they do the best palak (somtimes referred to as Sag) paneer. Honestly next time you fancy a takeaway curry or want to try something new, give this place a go! If you want authentic Indian food go to the "Rice Boat" or somewhere else but trust me you won't get a better "ruby murry" than a Makarani in Cambridge!

It used to be my go to Indian takeaway. Quality over the years has gone down immensely but their palak paneer and onion fried rice are still top notch.
