Reviews Black Cat Cafe

One of the few non-chain cafes in Cambridge, with real personality and character, and consistently quality food. Fabulous homemade cakes and other treats, brilliant paninis, and great coffee which is ground on the premises. It does get busy, and service can be slow and impersonal, but those of us who go there regularly forgive those irritations. In summary: an oasis at the so-called 'wrong' end of Mill Rd. Go there, let yourself eat cake!

The cakes here are absolutely delicious. I had the carrot cake the other day and it was everything I could ever dream of. The coffee was really good as well. It's a small shop, and it was VERY crowded when we first got there, but it cleared up after a couple of minutes and we had no trouble finding seats. The food looks AMAZING, and I am making it my mission to come back for breakfast or brunch sometime soon!

Came in on a recommendation from a friend. Got ran over by a baby pram and trod on a piece of toast but the food was unreal!! Bacon and eggs Benedict.. Awesome.

Absolutely amazing home-made food with a nice cafe to go along. I've never had eggs benedicts that delicious. They get the poached eggs perfectly right on top of some nice bread served with a yummy hollandaise sauce. Their porridge is also amazing, served with cream and brown sugar. They have the daily papers. It's a little bit away from the city centre but it is absolutely worth it. It's my favourite brunch place in Cambridge by far.

My experiences at the cafe have been progressively positive since my last post. The service has been consistently friendly in the past few months, and I can always depend on this place for a good espresso. Also, their (grilled?) mushrooms with goat cheese and pesto is a great brunch meal, and the cakes are still consistently yummy.

the cakes are un- believable, so fresh. service was good on the days i popped in and like already mentioned above, the coffee is their own blend. staff are friendly and its a shame its a little more out of town but still worth a visit for a decent coffee when your about the area.

A little out of the centre, but nice if you can get in. Food is good, coffee is OK. It used to be our coffee house of choice (especially for breakfast), but it now has better rivals in the centre. Still highly recommended though

Part of a group of six we stop here for breakfast at the start of a weekend in Cambridge and what a start to the weekend. The food was lovely and the atmosphere in the cafe was welcoming. Our breakfasts here set a benchmark for the weekend. Would recommend

Honestly, this place serves one of the best breakfasts around! This has become our go-to spot as it is so close by and so good, always has space and always a friendly welcome and very accommodating to each of our dietary requirements/ allergies:)

Loved that place. Their dirty chai is really good and the avocado eggs Benedict was perfect. Add good service and amiable atmosphere and you will want to come back again and again. The place never fails.

Love this little cafe, their coffee is lovely and their breakfasts are amazing. Very generous portions and their cakes are just yummy. Prices are reasonable and the decor is lovely. Staff ladies are always nice and ready to help. My favourite place

Lovely friendly staff and such generous portions. May be becoming a little expensive. £4 for a not particularly special flat white is too much, but everything else is great!!!

Staff are super nice and welcoming. Flatwhite was perfect and not very milky as other cafe do. One advice is if they play with the lighting decor, it would make it much nicer. Great job guys

So many great options for breakfast/brunch! Plus, lots of homemade cakes! Some of them so unique that you won't find them any other place. Also, very nice staff. Only bad thing is that their website is not updated.

The food is good and the staff is very professional and nice. We sadly had a friend accidentally tip over a tray full of drinks which made a huge mess, but the staff did their best to keep a professional, calm approach and treated us very kindly despite the mess.

This is a cute cafe on Mill Road. Very popular. It's been full every time we've visited, but worth the wait. Food is really tasty. Great breakfast options. Also have some naughtiness at the counter to tempt you to a sweet treat to eat in or take away. Great coffee, smoothies refreshing too. Parking on street (if there's nothing on Mill Road itself you might find some on side streets, or just over the bridge there's a small pay and display car park. Highly recommend, but don't tell everyone, keep it a secret!

We had a lovely breakfast here on a Sunday morning. Despite it being very busy, the staff were attentive and the food was delicious! Will definitely be going back.
