Cracking pub right next to the Cam, in a great position on Midsummer Common. Spot on for a sunny day, with lots of outside seating. The food was great! Korean chicken burger was a highlight. Will definitely be back!
Really great pub with tons of atmosphere. Just had a light snack, which was delicious and tasty. Also value for money - not evident nowadays. Would recommend. Dog friendly as well throughout. Worth a visit.
Lovely location next to the Cam river. Great outside seating for the day and evening. Food was really lovely, only reason it’s not 5/5 is because most dishes were unavailable. Fish and chip+mac and cheese below!
Beautiful location next to the river and close proximity to several boat clubs with a bridge to cross. Lots of outdoor seating and a wide selection of food to suit most dietary requirements. Staff are very friendly and will accommodate most things if asked nicely ;)
Named after the Fort St George pub near its southern end. The unusual name of the pub, commonly abbreviated to just 'Fort St George', but, now better known as The Fort reflects a supposed resemblance to the East India Company's Fort St George at Madras (now Chennai) in India. This bridge is now open for use by cyclists.
I still can’t get over how large this pub is, with a sizeable indoor dining area and so many tables outside in different areas. The prize location for me though are the few tables on the bank of the river. It’s a great spot watching the boats pass by and although there’s lots of walkers and cyclists too they never seemed bothersome.
Service inside was fast and friendly with all the areas appearing clean and well kept. The food menu has a decent enough range for the weekend although a few more smaller dishes, such as sandwiches, wouldn’t go amiss. Service of main meals was quick though, especially considering how busy the place was, and the quality pretty good. The scampi and chips was a sizeable portion and despite not coming with the option of mushy or garden peas was very tasty. Sauces are in bottles but the staff were good at checking everything was alright, so if you need additional items they’re easy to obtain.
Overall it’s a great relaxing spot in a prime location. Prices were as you’d expect and I would happily return again, either for drinks or a meal.
Beautiful pub by the river. Plenty of outdoor seating. Some good lighting for the evening.
Good selection of food options.
Usual drinks options.
Great location on the riverbank and particularly nice on a warm summers day when you can sit outside. There is a lot if outside seating so it's perfect if you have a larger party to cater for.
Good range of beers on tap and a decent selection of typical pub grub. Staff were warm and friendly when I popped in for a late lunch. Would happily return.
I had some cider and some burgers with my partner here, and we had a great time
Great atmosphere by the river and the burgers... oh god, those burgers were godsend, possibly the best thing of that evening.
The staff was cool and friendly, never in the way
Hands down the best place around that area if you like an outdoor place to have a drink
Beautiful setting on a summer afternoon, long wait time for food but they were very busy so to be expected! Amazing vegan burgers :)
Good dinning or pub experience. The beef pie won't disappoint 🥧, so far my go to in Cambridge. Their veggie burger also tasted like a real burger, quite deserved impossible burger title 🍔😜
Dog friendly pub +++! Nice and spacious inside with good decoration. Bar staff are polite. From what we saw the food looked pretty good. There's a couple of good sized TV screens which are used for sporting events. Reasonably priced drinks, bar snacks available. Very nice - would recommend.
Terrance seats are great for sunny days. Our kids like chips here.
We had a lovely meal here. It's a great setting by the river, with a suitably traditional feel inside and a large outside area. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a good selection of niche beers.
Really great time at this fab pub yesterday.
Great food and great service.
It was very busy but the team looked after our group of 12 ladies on table 126/7 with no pressure and lots of patience.
Special thanks to the Bar Manager for his exceptional patience and understanding
We will be back!
Only pop in for a drink on nice summer day. And it was cosy pub with pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff by river Cam. We will be back for a dinner.
Grate place to stand by the River, enjoy a selection of beers, have a look at surrounding for rowing Lovers and when is nothings closer go to eat.
Chips here are the absolute best in Cambridge hands down. Only downside was we were pretty shocked to walk into the pub today to see a Christmas wreath and the pub advertising Christmas dinner. Definitely a turn off as a customer trying to enjoy the last of the summer sun!
