While staying in Cambridge, we were delighted by this pub. Very good quality of food as well as the quantity not to mention the staff, who was willing to give the best service. Needless is to say how mouthwatering the dessert was and how friendly the people were. Long story short, I highly recommend this pub to those who are visiting this amazing town. Thank you for your service ;) Greetings from Barcelona

Cracking Sunday Roast. Table for 4 booked for 12.30pm. Had lush starters - sharing Camembert and both scotch eggs, all excellent. Followed by Sunday roasts all round - two of us had the replacement aubergine schnitzel veggie option - was so good and an inspired veggie option that tasted and felt so meaty! Only thing I’d say is to go early for the roast, as by 2pm they’d run out and even at 12.40pm when we ordered, they were out of nut roasts! Beef also ran out shortly after we ordered.

Dropped on by for lunch before our train in a convenient spot tucked away about 20 minutes walk to the station but close to the Grafton centre We ordered the crispy squid, the vegetarian scotch egg and as pictured the chicken kiev, whilst all the food was delicious the Kiev was an absolute winner and everyone who tried it commented as such. The beers are reasonably priced and they have a good range of draft ales. There is a good amount of outdoor seating with some sheltered in case of rain

Visited twice within one week as we enjoyed it so much. From the outside this pub is deceiving, as there is a great outdoor space at the back and to the side. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The summer food menu has lots of choice and the highlight was the triple cooked chips. Hidden gem and an absolute must.

A little off the beaten track but worth the walk. A proper gem! The best fish and chips we’ve had, and we’re from Yorkshire! Excellent scotch egg. Super salads. Everything prepared by people who care about food and know what they’re doing. We went twice!

Positives first, the food is excellent, and the food servers were excellent. Seafood broth was good, cheese Ploughman’s amazing, and beetroot croquettes were fantastic The beers are a little disappointing, 4 to 5 drab, Greene King style cask ales, then the usuals Guinness, a couple of lagers, and neck oil. Pretty uninspiring. Other pubs locally doing much more interesting beers. The wines however, were lovely, and very well priced. Service was a little hit and miss, exemplified by someone putting a double whiskey on our bill which we hadn’t authorised. Bar girl took it off immediately, which was good, but seemed surprised that us, as a couple dining alone, didn’t have an American chap ordering a double whiskey on our bill! A little bit more care is needed from the service side of things

Good atmosphere and service. The food was utterly amazing. Had the summer burger and the mushroom scotch egg. The former was delicious, as the combination of lamb, feta, cabbage and pomegranate was nothing short than genius. The egg was also very good, probably the best veggie scotch egg I had so far.

Always great food, with flavours from all over the world. Classic British pub, with good beer and friendly staff. Gorgeous little beer garden for summer and a fire for winter. Perfect.

Such a cool little pub. If there's 4 or less, I recommend doing if you can book the tiny little snug which has a door that closes behind you making it completely private. The food also looked amazing and we'll definitely try since next time

Another great pub squeezed into this part of town. Lovely local pub. Pint of Butcombe Gold. Small beer garden out back. Another CAMRA Good Beer Guide pub. Beware the basic bog out back! Good beer garden to side.

Excellent traditional style pub. The food is really lovely. Traditional pub classics with Mediterranean twist served with tasty and colourful ingredients. Staff super friendly and happy for me to share my birthday cake on plates they provided. Recommend the steak bavette in picture and the padron peppers. The cake was made by my wife!

Really good to be able to go outside and enjoy some chilled beer (excellent selection tap) and a cosy atmosphere in the undercover courtyard after work. We decided to stay for food, good selection of pub fare and an excellent local supplier (Balzanos). Quick service and friendly staff. The food came quickly and was delicious; chips were fresh, homemade and hot. We will book yo go back and look.forward to trying much more of the menu!

This pub is a hidden gem that you want to discover. We enjoyed having our dinner at The Free Press. Before checking out the menu, we expected standard pub food options. However, it was a mixed variety of appealing dishes. Overall, this place is incredible, the prices are adequate and the food is tasty.

Really nice wee pub. Not been for a decade but it’s still charming. Good beer and good value food.
