I ordered the lunch/early evening menu, that you can get until 7pm. I tried the steak, and didn't regret it. Steak was soft and perfectly cooked, spotted on! Great chips with roast tomatoes. And sauce was a very nice touch on the steak.
It is not cheap, but not too pricey either if you choose this menu, as for that price we also had dessert. I cannot stress more to try the Cambridge burnt cream, please.

The 14oz Butler is the best steak I think I've ever had. Medium rare is still pretty rare so maybe go medium. Overall the food is brilliant and the service is awesome too 🙏🏻
Wondered around Cambridge looking for something to eat and stopped to look at the menu, a lady outside said if you like meat stop looking at the menu and go inside, it's the best. Took her word and went inside and my girlfriend and I ordered a Sunday roast. AMAZING! The pork which I ordered simply melted when I cut it, that's the first time I've ever had pork that tender and moist, my girlfriend got the lamb which was incredible as well. Only negative I have is the size of the potatoes, fairly large and would personally have preferred them smaller.
Will definitely come back when I visit Cambridge again!

Came here for Sunday roast on a rainy Cambridge day. The food and the wine were amazing! Staff is very friendly. Great place to enjoy a Sunday afternoon.

Lovely place (the entrance is on the left of this picture) and a bit small with a lots of steps and "mind your head" that will give you this little cosy feeling. The meat literally mealt in your mouth 👍
Best Sunday roast I've ever had. Just wow. The beef melts in your mouth. If only this place was in Bristol.

Sunday roast dinners all round; mostly fine, but beef on the rare side for us.
Not the cheapest Sunday dinner, but we enjoyed the ambience and had a great family occasion.
I have just had a very memorable meal at St John's Chop house. Served by friendly knowledgeable and respectful staff. The wine list is excellent and the food is fantastic, a very good meal was had by all. The menu was also an interesting change from the norm. Highly recommended.
Great place. Very friendly and polite staff. Great starters, mains - fresh full of flavors. Homemade puddings which is rare those years. I can highly recommend butler steak, haggis fritters and sticky toffie pudding. Lots of choices for gluten free dairy free vegans or vegetarian - and it is a STEAK HOUSE! very impressed.

In short, this is a great place with a very welcoming atmosphere and great value food.
I was there with my wife and we had Norfolk Mussels and Dates in Bacon as starters. Both were absolutely delicious and I would rate them 6 out of 5 stars, if I could, for the great combination of ingredients. As main course we had the Sirloin Steak and Mint Crusted Lamb Chops. Unfortunately those dishes were not in the same league as the starters. We ordered the steak medium and it was slightly under-cooked (luckily my wife liked it like this) and the the lamb was a bit too long on the grill. The Sticky Toffee Pudding as a dessert was brilliant again and the perfect end to our meal. We had white house wine to our meal which was also very good.
I would give the whole evening 4.5 stars. Because only full stars are possible I decided to give 5 points as 4 seem too harsh for the perfect starters and dessert.
This is a place I can definitely recommend due to lovely ambiance, the welcoming staff, and great food.

The best steak I've had in a long time. And the sauce..mwah just brilliant.
The flavour of the mushroom sauce as it mixed with my steak and mash in my mouth culminating together to form flavour heaven.
Make sure that if going as a group you sample several of starters, those Haggis balls are to die for.
And don't you dare pass on the cheese cake.
So that's the food what about the service. The staff were polite and accomodating while also being sure to give our group our privacy.
I don't know much on serving wine but clearly they did. This was greatly appreciated by my group.
The best roast beef ever! Had a lovely family lunch there recently, with others enjoying the pork and the lamb equally. My only gripe would be the cost of £6 for a single small scoop of sorbet and ice cream!
