Scores points for atmosphere with tons of Turkish rugs and upholstery; there was even a man sitting in the dining room, turning kebabs on a grill. I thoroughly enjoyed my spicy lamb kebab that came with salad, rice and pita. This was a HUGE portion and I was stuffed.

A really solid Turkish option. Food is simple and delicious and the service is fast and friendly. Fairly small inside with tables that are close together, but the food quality and the cheap price makes up for it. Food options are fairly limited to grilled meat skewers and an assortment of appetizers, but they are great. Also, thumbs up for Efes beer on draft.

Efes is a Turkish restaurant that excels in service and atmosphere. The staff are all extremely appreciative of patron support and express this sentiment profusely when customers finish their meals and leave the restaurant. As a relative novice when it comes to Turkish foods, I must say that it really met expectations in terms of food quality and preparation. The aubergine saute starter was perfectly seasoned and very savory. The chicken efes main was a well rounded taste---but don't forget to request the chilli sauce (much like a Mexican salsa and not very spicy) as the dish is not heavily flavored. The Musakka is very tasty and and rich---perhaps a bit too inundated with the ground lamb meat, but an overall great dish to try. Most importantly, the restaurant's attractive tablecloths were VERY cushy and easy of the elbows.

The food was GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!! How can you not love a restaurant with an open grill in the middle of the place. We started with the grilled lambs liver & taramasalata (sp?) for apps with pita bread. Both were delish! We then ordered a mixed grill and the souvlaki (just to pick something different). Even though it was delicious, I would have ordered the grilled lamp chops. The table next to us had that, and I just about reached over to eat one. I don't think that you can go wrong with anything off the grill. I wish we had ordered some wine, but we stopped at the pub next door for a drink before EFES opened. Whenever I go back to Cambridge, I'll be sure to stop by again.

I used to love this place when I lived in Cambridge, so I went back to the other day to see if it had changed. The food was still totally delicious and the service was friendly and fast. The smell of the meat roasting on the open grill is amazing. We saw some regulars come in and be greeted by name, shown to their regular table and served their regular drink, all a good sign for a restaurant. My only quibble (why do I always have to have a quibble?) is that they charge 60p per pita bread, which seems steep for bread. On the whole, though, lovely, friendly and delicious.

Best food I've had in Cambridge. Get the Yogurtlu Kebab - mind blowingly delicious. Bonus points include reasonable (for UK) prices and generous portions. Service was super quick, too. Delicious!!

This is a fantastic independent restaurant serving the best lamb in Cambridge, slow cooked over a charcoal fire in front of you. The meat is so tender that it just melts in your mouth. The fact that it is always full in the evenings with Cambridge town and gown is testimony in itself. If you have room for a desert try their backlava as it never fails to hit the spot. Dining here is a real treat for me and my friends.

Just Brilliant! We have now become regulars and go at least once a week. I think they now know what our usual order is and we can dispense with the menus. The food is high quality and HEALTHY this is a huge attraction vs the standard chain restaurants. The beer (Efes) is one of my favourites too which is a bonus. Both the food and service are consistently outstanding which is not something I'm able to say about any other restaurant in Cambridge.. Well done Efes. don't ever change!

We have been here multiple times and really love it. The atmosphere is great, the smells from the in-dining room grill are delicious, and the food is classic Turkish. Depending on the time of day, the owners are very helpful. The service can be a little slow, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. Overall, well worth a visit to try some delicious Mediterranean/Turkish cuisine. Enjoy!

Ordered lamb cutlet it was the best decision ever? I mean, look at the photo😍😍😍 One of the best lamb cutlet I’ve ever had. My friend ordered lamb kofta and she love them too! Best halal food experience in Cambridge! The walk from Pembroke bust stop is about 1-2km and really recommend this place especially for those hunting halal food. Better to book in advance to ensure you secure seats. We did not book but lucky enough to have a table fir 5 of us, but the place was packed at that moment. Staff were all very alert & friendly I love this place.

We during the daytime for a lunch meal, and I can safely say we were not disappointed the service was good the food was excellent and we all left very full. We had starters, mains and pudding, and all of them were very generous portions. For the starter we had two, one person's Meze and an extra portion of Liver and Borek. Mains were three portions of lamb cutlets and one portion on Kofta. Pudding were baklarvi and coffees. All of the food was very good quality and the lamb cutlets were of a superb quality. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody it is not all that cheap £35 a person including drinks but you get what you pay for these days!.

First visit for many years. We went for our wedding anniversary and thought the venue would be a little bit special. We were not disappointed. The staff are very friendly and attentive looking after all of our needs. The food was amazing and cooked from fresh. We were recommended the sharing platter for a Turkish dining experience. This we definitely have again. Starters, mains, dessert and coffee and drinks for around £35 each. Great place which we will be returning to soon.

Simply fantastic! Faultless from start to finish, we absolutely loved it. The staff are so friendly and warm, and the place itself is buzzy, cosy and unpretentious. Delicious chargrilled food, well priced. Very generous portions too. We were weekend visitors to Cambridge and don't live locally, otherwise we would definitely go there all the time. Genuinely one of the best restaurant experiences we've had anywhere. Brilliant!

Good was really nice. I'm Greek so love meat done over coals, and it was gorgeous. We had 5 set menus and they combined them in to dishes for the table, something I'm used to with a meze. The service was pretty decent, nothing really to complain about there. The only letdown was that is felt quite cramped when it was full (good sign of the quality of food)

Nice small restaurant with a good aesthetic, and reasonable prices for high quality meat. The staff were so lovely, making recommendations and allowing my partner a mix of two dishes when she could not decide, taking an interest in us and being friendly, chatty and attentive. We shared a mixed meze platter of starters that was delightful, and I had the Yogurtlu kebab which was fantastic, though I’m used to a little more yoghurt and meat and less rice usually. However, while my expectations are exceptionally high, the quality of the food and service were remarkable and it was a lovely experience at a lovely restaurant.

The staffs are lovely and dare to make jokes with you.. don't take it to heart and enjoy it as part of the experience. Foods are crazy good and portion size is a no joke. There were 6 of us and we just ordered 5 meal platters, and still couldn't finish it. The meal platters consist of starters, main course (mixed meat with rice and breads), salads, fruits platters, dessert, and coffee or tea of choice. The rice was drenched in the meat juice, making it even more gorgeous. Definitely a recommended place in Cambridge.

We have lived in Cambridge for 32 years and over the years I have often said why don't we try Effes? For whatever reason tonight was the first time we have been to the restaurant. What a mistake! From the minute we went through the door the ambiance got us and the attentiveness of the staff set the tone for the rest of the evening. So friendly and helpful. I wanted the set menu but I also wanted to try the kidney so the waiter sorted it so I could have kidneys incorporated into the meze. Everything was beautifully cooked. We chose the most expensive Turkish wine and we're glad we did because it was wonderful. The baklava and fruit was a lovely ending to the meal as was the coffee . All in all a really lovely meal with wonderful attentive service. Why did we wait so long? We will return...

Very delicious and authentic Turkish food. Dishes are freshly cooked and flavourful with minImum seasoning, featuring the original taste of the ingredients. Besides classical meat Kebabs, they also provide vegetarian and seafood choices. The set menu is a good deal if you want to try a bit of everything. Staff are also nice and welcoming.

We have been customers of this place for years, went out again last night and had a great meal. The mixed grill and the kofta are the best in Cambridge, consistent with quality which is rare nowadays. Bill was reasonable taking into consideration the price of food is still going up, will definitely visit again.

Everything we ordered was delicious. From the dips and salad to the very tender meat. The portions look small for a Turkish restaurant but trust me they are not. The staff is extremely friendly and kind. I would recommend this place to everyone who enjoys turkish food !!

Turkish food with a slightly more upmarket feel. Everything was good here and it seems very popular with locals. Not the cheapest, but very nice place.
