We love the The Dumb Post Inn, the staff are great and the setting is wow. A beautiful country pub with great views over to the White Horse and beyond, it is just one of those places we love to visit every so often. We had lunch today, vegetarian burgers and a drink on the beautiful and peaceful terrace with panoramic views over the Cherhill and beyond, reminds us of parts of France, perfect thanks so much. On a lovely day, it was so nice to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful views. There were 10 in our party, yet this was no problem to them with the food coming out promptly despite it being busy. We were so well looked after by Tilly, and we will be visiting this fab pub again in the near future.
Views to take your breath away. Polite and friendly staff, and set on a Wiltshire hillside.
A little out of the way, but that’s a good thing.
Apparently, can get pretty busy, so pre booking would be advisable if you’re planning a meal.
We didn’t see any signposting ( May have missed it) but a little off the main roads, so follow your Sat Nav.
We stumbled across this beautiful pub by pure chance, and so glad we did. We only stopped in to sample some of their beverages (of which there was a great selection to choose from) so can’t comment on the food. We did check out the menu, and are already planning a return trip to remedy this!!
Been a regular eater here for years and it never disappoints. Stopped for a pre Christmas meal with friends, we all felt the food had gone up another notch!
Had the ragu which was on point.
Only niggle was it seemed a little short on staff so drinks and water took ages.
Great local vibe and super friendly. Also worth a visit in the summer as the views are mega.

Went for Sunday lunch with friends, absolutely lovely, we were welcomed by friendly staff, the food was delicious, the view is absolutely beautiful! We even got a friendly hello from Oscar the parrot.
What a find. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We have visited this pub (local to relatives) many times over the last 15 years. Today we had a very large lunch...fish and chips, the house burger and a child's burger meal. My daughter raved about the delicious crushed peas with her fish, which appeared to have shoots and mint too. The burgers were substantial and delicious. The child's meal beat my granddaughter but she thoroughly enjoyed it. Puddings were sticky toffee pudding, 2 scoops of ice cream for the child's meal, and a strawberry trio. Very nice. They were happy to welcome a very loud 1-year old and 2 dogs too! We won the two-course meal for two in a Teenage Cancer Trust raffle... which made today's outing even more of a treat! We'll be back. 😊
It is about five years since I last visited the Dumb Post and it has been transformed for the better. It has been spruced up but has retained all the characteristics and atmosphere of a traditional country pub. Our meal was delicious, a cut above normal pub fare, and the service was excellent. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
We had a great impromptu lunch here last weekend. I ate off of the set menu and my partner off of the main menu. We both really enjoyed our food and the service was the right level of attentive. The views from the garden are fantastic
What an amazing Sunday lunch at a really special place. Our friends had previously visited for a lunchtime anniversary celebration and had said how good it had been so five of us decided to try the Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, by far and away the best roast we've had. Plenty of different meat and one vegetarian option on the roasts, plus other menu options. A lovely selection of vegetables as a side and we also ordered cauliflower cheese. All of the roasts came with a large Yorkshire pudding and the chicken had added stuffing. The meats were cooked to perfection and the gravy was very tasty too, the roasties were tasty and the red cabbage was divine. The service was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We asked if we could go and sit outside after our meal and that was no problem. It was a warm afternoon and the outside seating area is delightful with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside towards the Cherhill white horse. The price of the Sunday roast was pretty competitive and I considered it to be excellent value based on the flavour, quality and quantity. A cheeseboard was shared by two of our party and the sticky toffee pudding by another two. Again the quantities were excellent and they were both very tasty. It's a lovely relaxed way to spend a Sunday enjoying superb food and drink. We'll be back!
We've found our new favourite place to eat!
We called ahead on a Monday evening to see if they could accommodate four adults, a baby and two dogs. When we arrived we were shown to our table and drinks promptly arrived.
My wife cannot currently have dairy, soya and egg and eating out lately has been a bit tricky. Our waitress went to speak to the chef and returned with the menu, with ticks and amendments so we could clearly see what she could have (this included making a soup from scratch, and meant that she could choose from about 80% of the menu). We were very grateful that they were so accommodating.
Service throughout the evening was attentive and friendly. The food was fab! Some excellently constructed, balanced and flavourful dishes on the Al a carte and some firm favourites on the 'Pub Classics' menu.
We are already planning our return visit and we will be recommending The Dumb Post to anyone that asks.
