Came here Friday evening for a meal quite late in the evening, and the food was still incredible. Both starters and mains were beautifully presented, and the food was stunning (best Hunter’s Chicken ever) Would definitely recommend, and will be back in the future. Massive thumbs up

Cosy, traditional, olde worlde pub with a thatched roof and open fires. A lovely evening was spent leisurely eating the Saturday night steak menu deal. Food was excellent the prawn and lobster starter was delicious and the ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. Helpful, accommodating staff.

Found this cozy inn (or maybe it's more of a pub?) just a short drive from Cardiff. The food is absolutely amazing, and they've got a nice selection of beers. Service can be a tad slow, but that's hardly an issue. You're not here for a quick pint anyway; it's all about kicking back and enjoying your time

Arrived for our booking just after 11am due to slow traffic. Was warmly welcomed by our waitress Mari! We were given time (just enough) to first order drinks and then again to order our food. Mari recommended the full English breakfast which she got spot on! Both breakfasts were hot and very delicious, the orange juices were cold and the hot chocolate (for my daughter) and breakfast tea (for me) were both great too. Just to add, there’s was a nice little extra touch of having a small cube of flapjack with each hot drink too! Please thank Abbey the chef for delivering a very appetising and delicious breakfast! Well done! Loved it all including the service from Mari! Will definitely be back and happy to recommend! Oh yes the pub itself is a gem, with thatched roof, open fires and good clean toilets too. Absolutely faultless! Thank you

What a delightful hidden gem this place is. A very diverse and interesting menu. It took us both some time to decide as everything sounded delicious. We had lamb kofta and scallops with king prawns for starters. For the mains, we decided on the chicken skewers with slaw and triple cooked chips and the wild garlic lamb skewers with flat bread. The food was absolutely gorgeous and generous in portion size. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. A very beautiful restaurant in a stunning location. We will be back to try your other delicacies.

Lovely olde style eatery and bar, caters well for foodies and folk with a larger wallet than the usual pub grub, I recommend the prawn starter and the pork belly!!!

We have only praise. First of all the serving staff were exceptionally helpful, kind and flexible. Our table was in a lovely position. All of the food on the mother's day menu was fantastic! We had a variety of items from the menu, we were never rushed, and you could taste the quality in the ingredients. I'd booked for mothers day as I had had such a good experience previously, my mother, grand mother and sister in law really enjoyed themselves. Thank you for making mothers day special.

The food was delicious. Good portions. It was on the higher end of the price scale, but as it was so good I didn’t mind paying. Staff were pleasant. You should have had some decaf coffee though!

An amazing little find, and highly recommend. Probably the best Sunday lunch I've had in a very long time. Food, Tri Meat Sunday dinner / Sirloin Beef Sunday Dinner. Side of cauliflower cheese and stuffing: Dinners: it was delicious, every bite. Nothing was done incorrectly. The meat was soft and tender, the beef was cooked perfectly. The roast potato's crunchy, the veg lovely, Yorkshire pudding was airy a good size, stuffing with bacon wrapped around them were delicious. You get a small pot of gravy, which was plenty. We did ask for more, and it came instantly. Mint sauce tasted home made, which I didn't expect. A weirdly odd thing which I loved how was the veg came in a separate dish on the plate, so you could share with someone or chose what you wanted from the fish. I feel this place nailed everything! And for the price, you couldn't ask for me. We paid £54; 2 dinners, 2 sides, and 2 drinks. And considering the size and quality, I would easily pay that again and again. Service: Polite staff, who all looked incredibly professional. We never waited long for anything, that includes our dinners. We were never rushed and felt we ordered at our own pace. Atmosphere: Absolutely gorgeous, from the low beam ceiling, to the firepits placed around. There was a lovely couple with a baby in a high seat, and I felt the atmosphere was so relaxed and call. Bravo to the staff, chefs and owner for making an incredibly venue.

Came up for food with family. Our waitress was Ellie, she was very friendly and was happy to help with any inquiries. She told us our chefs were Rhys and Dylan. The food was excellent. I recommend the lamb duo.

Warm welcome on arrival, really friendly service. All food, and there was plenty, was great. Only criticism thin Fries a little overdone and hard. But this in no way would stop a return visit! Thank you

Visited with my wife this weekend and had the most pleasant experience, food was amazing and brought out in a timely manner and I can’t recommend the pork belly enough! We had the best service from Lisa and can’t wait to return, she was efficient and we would want her as our waitress again next time. Thanks Lisa and chefs for a 10/10 dining experience.

Gorgeous building, friendly staff and amazing food. Really enjoyed coming here for dinner. Pictured is the raspberry house soda, beef dripping sandwich, strawberry Bellini trifle and double chocolate brownie. Very ‘posh’ but at a reasonable price! Was also nice to be able to take the dog with us. Looking forward to our next visit!

It was good, prices not bad. Service recommended. One needs to book prior visit. Plenty of parking with accessibility to all. Bathrooms available. Wish they could improve on birthday candles. Overall, I recommend Travellers Rest to everyone as menu is also accommodative.

Service was excellent throughout. The table allocated was in a good position. Cleanliness very good. We enjoyed the meal: it was served reasonably quickly, and was hot and tasty. The staff were polite and friendly, without being overly attentive as in some other restaurants.

The staff were absolutely lovely and the food was delicious. I saw a few interactions of staff being very sweet with the various children dotted about too (Easter weekend). It was a great atmosphere.

I had sea bass which was delicious and my husband had the lamb rump which he said was delicious too, but the amount of accompaniments were very sparse, only n one potato fondant and a weird small pie and 4 stems of broccoli. For £26.95 we would never order this again.
