The Travellers Rest - Caerphilly - Photo album

Found this cozy inn (or maybe it's more of a pub?) just a short drive from Cardiff. The food is absolutely amazing, and they've got a nice selection of beers. Service can be a tad slow, but that's hardly an issue. You're not here for a quick pint anyway; it's all about kicking back and enjoying your
Arrived for our booking just after 11am due to slow traffic. Was warmly welcomed by our waitress Mari! We were given time (just enough) to first order drinks and then again to order our food. Mari recommended the full English breakfast which she got spot on! Both breakfasts were hot and very delicio
What a delightful hidden gem this place is. A very diverse and interesting menu. It took us both some time to decide as everything sounded delicious. We had lamb kofta and scallops with king prawns for starters. For the mains, we decided on the chicken skewers with slaw and triple cooked chips and t
First time here for over 30 years , and it's even better. Excellent service , the food is delicious. This place is perfect is perfect for date nights and romantic meals . Best to book as it gets busy 9/10 from me
Lovely olde style eatery and bar, caters well for foodies and folk with a larger wallet than the usual pub grub, I recommend the prawn starter and the pork belly!!!
We have only praise. First of all the serving staff were exceptionally helpful, kind and flexible. Our table was in a lovely position. All of the food on the mother's day menu was fantastic! We had a variety of items from the menu, we were never rushed, and you could taste the quality in the ingredi
The food was delicious. Good portions. It was on the higher end of the price scale, but as it was so good I didn’t mind paying. Staff were pleasant. You should have had some decaf coffee though!
An amazing little find, and highly recommend. Probably the best Sunday lunch I've had in a very long time. Food, Tri Meat Sunday dinner / Sirloin Beef Sunday Dinner. Side of cauliflower cheese and stuffing: Dinners: it was delicious, every bite. Nothing was done incorrectly. The meat was soft and t
Came up for food with family. Our waitress was Ellie, she was very friendly and was happy to help with any inquiries. She told us our chefs were Rhys and Dylan. The food was excellent. I recommend the lamb duo.
Warm welcome on arrival, really friendly service. All food, and there was plenty, was great. Only criticism thin Fries a little overdone and hard. But this in no way would stop a return visit! Thank you
Visited with my wife this weekend and had the most pleasant experience, food was amazing and brought out in a timely manner and I can’t recommend the pork belly enough! We had the best service from Lisa and can’t wait to return, she was efficient and we would want her as our waitress again next time
Warm, cosy and welcoming. Food was great, even be we had 40%off, we will return. Loved the fires!
Gorgeous building, friendly staff and amazing food. Really enjoyed coming here for dinner. Pictured is the raspberry house soda, beef dripping sandwich, strawberry Bellini trifle and double chocolate brownie. Very ‘posh’ but at a reasonable price! Was also nice to be able to take the dog with us. Lo
It was good, prices not bad. Service recommended. One needs to book prior visit. Plenty of parking with accessibility to all. Bathrooms available. Wish they could improve on birthday candles. Overall, I recommend Travellers Rest to everyone as menu is also accommodative.
Service was excellent throughout. The table allocated was in a good position. Cleanliness very good. We enjoyed the meal: it was served reasonably quickly, and was hot and tasty. The staff were polite and friendly, without being overly attentive as in some other restaurants.
The staff were absolutely lovely and the food was delicious. I saw a few interactions of staff being very sweet with the various children dotted about too (Easter weekend). It was a great atmosphere.
I had sea bass which was delicious and my husband had the lamb rump which he said was delicious too, but the amount of accompaniments were very sparse, only n one potato fondant and a weird small pie and 4 stems of broccoli. For £26.95 we would never order this again.
