What a fab place!! Myself, with my husband and our young daughter visited here this afternoon. Our first time too, as we only moved to Caerleon in January this year. (So was nice to find and visit one of our local pubs.) Such a lovely warm welcome by Charly and her staff and of course Harry (one of Charly & Jo's furbabies ). We had food, from there lovely menu with a good choice of food to choose from. Including different meal choices, and not the standard meals that can be offered in a lot of pub restaurants. So was nice to see different meal choices for a change. The food was homemade fresh cooking. Including homemade ice cream which is fab. We all enjoyed our food, nothing at all to complain about. Good selection of beers, ales and ciders too Overall, I will definitely be returning here and will be telling friends & family when they visit us. This is a place to visit and well recommended!! My added love for this place, are the dogs!! Very dog friendly and even have a menu for your furry friend and doggy cakes at the bar to purchase as treats. Adorable!! Everything ticks my boxes here Beer & cider choices Food Old traditional pub build and cosy Doggy friendly Child friendly Very welcoming & friendly Thank you Charly & Jo, and your staff after our lovely afternoon with you. P.S: plus snuggles with Harry xx

I can honestly say that I find this place not only welcoming but homely and certainly an encouraging change to Caerleon. It’s like a step back in time where you don’t feel embarrassed to go alone as female to a public house. The Staff are second to non and the owners really make you feel welcome no matter what the situation. The food is the best I have had in a very long time and the priory needs to step up its game as this place certainly gives them a run for their money. Sunday lunch is fantastic and evening meals to die for. Jo is a truly awesome chef along with her team.

What can I say? Absolutely perfect! Charly and Jo have done something amazing with the bell inn! Felt so welcome, and the hospitality was outstanding! The staff are so friendly and lovely, the food was lush too but the main reason we went was in birthday memory of my darling boy Murphy, we had the doggy menu for Magnus (Murphys brother) and he ate it with gusto, and the birthday cake and card for Murphy was just the most amazing touch ever! Anyone with a dog should definitely treat them to the doggy menu and treat themselves to the beautiful food. Already planning our next visit thanks to you all so much again for a beautiful evening xxx

Can I say thank you so much to all of the staff at The Bell for such a lovely afternoon yesterday. Not only was the food amazing but the staff were so welcoming and attentive! With two young children they couldn’t do enough to help (colouring books, high chair, smaller portions to name just a few). We all had a lovely time and will definitely be back soon! The cosiest and most welcoming pub we’ve been in for ages!

The Bell Inn in Caerleon is an absolutely fabulous place a wonderful pub I have from my childhood memories 50 years ago. My whole family, including my grandad used to hang out here and have a couple of beers most days a week . Obviously the pub has changed quite a lot over the last years. It is an early 17th century coaching in and actually very close to the Roman burial ground here in Caerleon. It’s a wonderful atmosphere in the pub beautiful gardens outside lovely sitting inside all nestled in a little village just outside of the main town of Caerleon.

Delightful traditional pub. Service very good. Food tasty, well presented, and inexpensive. Fish and Chips would come recommended. Would definitely return.

It was my first visit here. It was a Saturday afternoon over the coronation. The waitress was very welcoming and the pub is really charming. The food was out of this world!! Gorgeous!! I don’t think I would go anywhere else from now on.. I have told everyone how amazing our meal was. The atmosphere was really good too !! The waitress was on her own but did an amazing job and the chef is amazing!! 5*****

First time eating here and will defo return very soon! A small evening dinner menu but everything sounded (and looked) delish! We opted for the sautéed mushrooms and house bread with marmite butter, both super tasty. And for main we had the burger which was enjoyed and the yeast baked cauliflower with butter bean mash which was different and full of flavour - lots of places often don’t make much effort with the veggie option so this was a real treat! The desserts sounded lovely but just didn’t have any room for them so next time! Also was a lovely atmosphere and the best most attentive and friendly services.

Just had an absolutely beautifully cooked lamb and an amazing side of chunky fries, my other half had the Cajun chicken which was equally tasty. It was topped off with a lovely desert of a chocolate brownie etc . All in all we thoroughly recommend dining here.

Sunday lunch, the beef brisket was the best I've ever had, melt in the mouth and bigger than a steak, highly recommended.

Not our first visit, but first time we'd had lunch here - it was delicious and reasonably priced. Nice to see something a bit different on the menu (I had a delicious chicken "naanwich"). As ever, a very warm welcome for our pooch. Lovely staff.

Lovely old pub, serving delicious (if a bit pricey) food and beer. I had the monkfish and prawn curry, which was very flavoursome and left me wanting more. My wife had the fish and chips, also perfectly cooked. The only real negative point is that because the building is old and of stone construction, it's cold. There didn't seem to be any heating at all. I had to put my coat on whilst eating and my wife needed her scarf.

Can’t recommend this pub enough. Food was fabulous, hubby had a steak burger from lunch menu and thought it tasted great and was cooked to his liking. I had linguine from the veggie menu which tasted great. We took our dog #ZacTheDoberman with us as a friend had said it was dog friendly. Dog friendly doesn’t do it justice - there was a dog menu which would suit large or small dogs. Zac had the Rawhide shoe and Pupcake, it was so nice that he had his own food so wasn’t pestering us for our food. The owners and staff were friendly and so helpful. Very customer focused especially if you are of the canine variety. Lots of walks and interesting things to do in the area too. Can’t wait to return.

We had our best meals during a six day and night visit to Wales at The Bell Inn, a charming 17th century coaching inn serving updated versions of traditional pub food. Two "foodies" from the U.S. ate two of three dinners here while visiting southeast Wales, using Caerleon as a base. It would have been three nights if we hadn't wasted the first night at an overpriced a la carte restaurant at our hotel. The attached menu doesn't show our best dinner - grilled lamb breast with a delicious herb sauce, grilled artichoke hearts, and grilled gem lettuce (lightly topped with breadcrumbs and parmesean). Fantastic. SAVE ROOM FOR DESERT! Service at The Bell was every bit as excellent as the food. There was a nice restaurant area adjacent to the pub. A nice mix of folks enjoying themselves. Local folks clearly know and appreciate the spot. If it wasn't a bit off the beaten path, I bet it would be a tourist destination. Please give it a try if you're staying in or near Caerleon. You won't regret it.

Extremely nice food, the Fish and Chips (haddock) was so moist and tender, served with chip shop curry sauce. Friendly staff. Nice pub, recommended 👌🏻

It is enjoyable to have quiet, pleasant and a lively Saturday night out at the Bell Inn in Caerleon. The atmosphere is fashionably traditional to the Welsh pub and grill. Especially the ornaments at the windowsill. That also includes a local friend who is a black cat named Sooty. The food was spectacular and tender. I do enjoy the Japanese appetite of Chicken Katsu Skewers as it was. For the main course, I was enjoy the taste of two fish goujons, charred courgette and pea puree. This is one of the best Welsh pubs I have enjoyed for 5 stars and I'm happy to come back again.

Wonderful welcome from Mel, put everyone at ease with her warm smile and lovely character. Location is nice and out of the way, parking easy and the dog was treated like a king. The food and beer are well thought out, lovely experience. The dog and the wife wants to go back soon. Thank you Mel. Keep smiling it makes all the difference.

Great country pub, lovely beer garden. Has a fantastic selection of ciders, about 9. Bar snacks are brilliant with homemade pork scratching. Interior decor is rustic and comfortable.

Had a great Valentine's set menu meal here. The chefs clearly know what they are doing and the staff are accommodating too. Cosy and rustic pub environment with a gastro/restaurant menu. Will be back to eat from the regular menu soon. And the pub is very dog friendly!
