Arrived here after trying to revisit my youth and take my wife back to a pub I used to frequent
Only to find out it's now a country store!.. more info another time.
However stopped here to grab a drink and ended up staying for a couple.
On our arrival the landlord was on the phone and carried on the conversation politely whilst taking our orders.
However after seating ourselves in the garden with our drinks he came over to us directly and immediately apologised for any slight caused.
He had been on the phone to his Regional Manager discussing renovations and we had arrived at a particularly crucial part.
Firstly I had taken no affront to him carrying on a telephone conversation sporadically whilst serving me but secondly and more importantly to immediately apologise showed such a concern for customers that we will be back.
Plus the Ale and lager available are great.
Also there is a chicken run and coup in the garden and a barrel of water for patron's dogs.
Lovely village setting with the church just across the road and really great guy.
Tonight was Mexican night. Starters we had mini beef tacos main fajitas and beef brisket. Pudding was home made rum cheese and churros with chocolate dipping sauce. The special drinks on offer tonight were mojito and margaritas!
James and Katie are amazing landlords and the staff are a great credit to them.
Great for real ale and lunch. I understand it has changed management since my last visit, so cannot give a most recent update.
Great local pub, nice little beer garden at the back.
Bobbed in for a pint. Fairly busy and lively. Good range of beers available, prices are about standard. Beer was nice.
We had a really delicious lunch at this friendly welcoming village pub a couple of days ago. We had not booked but could choose a table in the garden or inside.
Really good varied menu, with home cooked dishes. We chose a toasted cheese and red onion sandwich, choice of bakery style bread plenty of filling served with steak style chips and very tasty.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Anyway it has always been good over the many years, current management is exceptional. They know how to look after their customers local or one offs, all are valued. Beer is always good and food excellent.

A great restaurant and pub. The landlords are great people who are active both in the pub and in the community. The Chequers will often host village events.
My favourite part about the restaurant is that they have a pen of chickens in their garden and they use their eggs to make fresh omelettes.
Friendly, food so good. Lovely atmosphere. We are new to the area and want to settle in. Really lovely evening. Thank you Chequers.
Local, village pub with lovely, friendly owners.
Great food and great pub. Very warm welcome and staff very attentive. We had the halloumi burgers which were lovely. We had not been there for a while and already planning our next visit.
Lovely pub with a fantastic menu, caters for meat eaters, vegetarian, vegan and dairy free. Very friendly. Would recommend.
Only a little pub but it has a nice character and the food was outstanding. Generous portion of the roast lamb dinner and a great price. Highly recommended, but you'll need to book!
We only popped in for a drink early doors, drink was a bit expensive but there was a good crowd and the atmosphere was good
This was the first meal as a family we had there and it was delicious with a warming wood burner fire. Definitely going back. Xx
Great food and service. James is a great host. This will become the goto resteraunt for the area. Highly recommended.
Even on a Saturday, when they had multiple large tables, they were able to accommodate us and still deliver delicious food. The steak and ale pie was amazing! Our second time coming here and definitely won't be our last. Thanks!
