Had a lovely meal in here Sat 12th Aug, all 3 of our main meals and 2 starters where very tasty , best mussel starter my wife has had Staff where lovely and went out of their way to get us a table in the bar area so we could come in with our dog Beware though the portions are big, we all struggled to finish the main meal, we would probably only have the one starter between all 3 of us and as my wife always gets her way it would be the mussels ! Definitely recommended

We booked a table as we were going to the opera house, saw this place on Google maps and it was very close. We arrived a little early but were shown straight to our table by one of the servers. We ordered a new to us dish, Birra beef tacos, it was great, flavoursome and brilliant portion size, we added the loaded fries. Price was great, service was fab. Thank you for a great dining experience, and we look forward to visiting again.

Fabulous find in really lovely location. The menu choice is immense and the food definitely didn’t disappoint. The portions were huge ( we couldn’t finish) The staff were helpful and polite and very efficient. The prices were reasonable. All in all a great evening will definitely return.

Our favourite restaurant to go to anytime we are in the area. The food is always spot on, we like getting a starter each then we share the fajitas. It's absolutely delicious. Updated Oct 2022 - went again this week, superb as usual - added a few more photos.

The Lone Star was excellent! Great atmosphere, very attentive staff, tasty food with generous portions and lovely cocktails. Would highly recommend as the staff and restaurant itself couldn't have been any better! They seem to get busy, so best to book if possible, or go a little earlier to avoid missing out! Social distancing rules were followed with a sanitiser station, toilets reduced to one person in at a time and use of the track and trace app.

100% Probably the best burrito I’ve ever eaten! Lone Star was a recommendation from a local whilst we have been visiting Buxton. Can say I am pleased we stopped by. Thank you for the greet service 🙏

This was our first visit to this Texmex restaurant and we were not disappointed. We were told that the portion sizes were generous and they delivered. We ordered Dirty Steak tacos, Buttermilk Chicken tacos and Steak strips, Tiger Prawns, salad and potato wedges. The staff were very friendly and the total bill came in under £60 (Including drinks), between the three of us. This place is definitely worth a visit while in Buxton.

Genuinely smoked ribs with smoky flavor. Expected to be softer and more falling of bone (as 12 hours cooked) but still very very nice. Portions very large and barely could finish all. Steak tacos very tasty. Steak strips not overcooked (medium rare) , just how should be.

Think of TGI Fridays, ok, got that in your head? This is like a very upmarket version. We had steaks which were outstanding. We had wings which were so tasty. The portions are big and the staff were nice people.

Thank you for squeezing us in on one of the busiest weekends (carnival day). Staff were very welcoming after no doubt a tiring day and after deliberating over such a varied menu, food was chosen and really was outstanding. Good choice of drinks complimented the meal including craft beers and cocktails, we hope to visit again soon. Can't recommend highly enough. Book in now!

Service was friendly and efficient. Food was very well cooked and presented. Mexican music would have been nice to add to authenticity

This has been my favourite restaurant for absolutely years. I haven't lived in Buxton for the last 8 years but still regularly return just to eat here. Quality food, good prices and enormous portions. Quite simply the best place to eat in Buxton by a million miles

We came here on the 23rd Decemeber as we were staying in Buxton for the night for our anniversary. Even though it was fairly busy with christmas parties (to be expected) the staff were excellent. They asked us which table we would prefer and were very quick with asking for our order and delivering extra drinks etc. we didnt feel as if the parties were taking priority. The food was absoloutley delicious, portions were huge and we throughly enjoyed it. We would definitely come back here if we were in Buxton again.

Wanted to write a quick review tonight as after a stressful day and 5 hour drive from home , stopping over in Buxton with a 2 year old for the night, we were starving. We had just received our drinks when our son was very ill… The staff working could not have been kinder, calmer or more helpful and helped us to sort him out and change our meal order to a takeaway. It was water off a duck’s back to them, which we really appreciated. The food was lovely, really enjoyed it. Thanks so much for your kindness and if we’re ever over this way again we hope to be able to eat in next time (maybe we’ll leave our son at home!).
