We recently had a stay in the peaks close to The Royal Oak and visited this place several times. The food is amazing and the value for money is exceptional! The staff were friendly and helpful. We visiting with our two dogs every time and we're always welcomed. I would recommend to anyone passing by!

We first found this pub in May 2022 while on holiday with our dogs. We came back to the area for our honeymoon and we came here four times for dinner with our dogs. Every meal we had was so delicious, brilliant service and very welcoming of the dogs. Their outdoor area is also sheltered so we had some outdoor meals too. This will always be our go to pub when we’re in the area!

Delicious Sunday roast!!! We were staying nearby and booked this as it was close, but it was so good we would have traveled for another meal! Lovely lamb roast, lamb pie and chicken burger. Also a lovely beer garden if you’re lucky to have some sunshine.

Booked for 8 adults, 2 children and one dog. Staff were friendly and attentive and made a lovely fuss of my dog. The food was excellent, with well thought out vegetarian choices. Everyone else in the party seemed to enjoy their meals too. I can't comment on the range of beer and wine as most of us were driving. Given we were a large party, the food arrived promptly and service was attentive throughout the meal without ever feeling pushy. Located in beautiful countryside, the pub is well furnished and impeccably clean. I'd recommend the pub to cyclists as there are excellent facilities and bike parking.

A fantastic dinner, some of the best pub food I think I have ever had. Fresh, homemade and great quality. Huge portions too. Cannot recommend enough.

Fantastic pub, great home cooked food YOU MUST BOOK! It gets very busy every night Dog friendly Directly access to the Tissington Trail Lots of veggie options Excellent service and great staff - shout out to the manager, he squeezed us in when we arrived after a 5 hour drive and it was very much appreciated Pub has a campsite directly behind it too with showers and toilets - no electric hook up Suitable for tents and campers - Not suitable for large motorhomes or caravans

As complete Van Life Newbie’s we enjoyed our first ever night away at The Royal Oak Pub in Hurdlow near Buxton in The Peak District which is a beautiful spot. The pub itself is a really cosy Inn and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Importantly the pub offer food 7 days a week with the campsite to the rear with 24/7 showers and toilets. We took a larger Super Pitch with Picnic Table and Fire Pit which was a lovely private quiet corner plot with dry stone wall boundary and stunning views of the National Park. After setting up we then enjoyed a dog walk along the adjacent trail towards Parsley Hay which cuts through amazing rolling countryside. We headed back to the pub to savour their signature dish the Beef & Stilton Pie which was absolutely amazing. We couldn’t have chosen a better venue for our first trip so much so we have already booked to go back again! Steve & Rachel Hewitt, Boo the Cockerpoo 🐶 and “Betty” our new VW CamperVan 🚐

Beef and stilton pie delicious with lightest proper puff pastry I've ever had (and I don't usually eat the pastry but ate all of this). Proper homemade chips. Managed to share a sticky toffee pudding which was very good but might have been warmer. Staff efficient and friendly. Highly recommend.
