First visit to this lovely pub. Fabulous Sunday lunch - roast beef incredible and everything beautifully cooked. Loved the atmosphere and decor and very friendly service. Proper traditional Olde worlde English pub. Would absolutely definitely go again and highly recommend for a very memorable meal.

Lovely country pub with plenty of character, dog friendly. Great real ales and food. We have had Sunday lunch here which came with excellent thick sirloin beef and proper Yorkshire pudding! Also called in on Friday for Meat platter and prosecco which was excellent quality and value. Big Yorkshire portions too! We definately will be calling in on a regular basis. Just what a pub should be! It was packed on both occasions too.

We love this pub and we visit whenever we are in the area. It is always welcoming and serves a fine pint at a very reasonable price. One day we may be able to eat here but it is a long way to come for lunch! Have you thought about doing B&B ??? It would be very successful if you did!! The staff are lovely! We enjoy the ambience and the moody lighting. A great find for us and wish we lived nearer!!!

What a fabulous place. Three fires glowing when we arrived at lunchtime and lit with candles on every table. Food was fresh and cooked to order,my husband had fresh Whitby sea bream and cod loin and I has pork and sausage casserole with dumplings. Delicious and the beer is so good. A perfect place to spend some time🍺🍺🍺

What a fantastic place! Traditional and atmospheric. Great staff and wonderful home brewed real ale. Went on a live 60's music night. The band were awesome and rocked til the late hours! Will be going back ASAP and will be checking out the menu this time. Don't want to recommend it too much as I want it all to myself!

After a walk in the Moors we found this cozy pub on our way home. The pub is very welcoming with a great interior. The food quality was excellent and good value. The roasted veg could’ve been done a little better, some pieces were too burnt. But otherwise very generous portions and comfort food. Servers were all new so it was a little slow but they were all very friendly. The bill also was not itemised which we would’ve liked. But it seems like they have a new management who are still ironing out some things and we will definitely be visiting again! Strongly recommend for anyone with a big appetite after some hiking.

My first visit, and very much hope the first of many. Being a Monday night, you're never sure what to expect. But, I needn't have worried. A wonderfully cosy and welcoming pub, with roaring log fires, what I'd call a "proper pub menu", as well as 'specials' and EIGHT, we'll kept, local real ales available ! Louisa, Ryan and their team greeted and treated me as though I were a regular local. I opted for the Gammon & Egg option, which was an absolute blinder !! The young chef in the kitchen was even working on his 18th birthday - what a star ! Would 100% recommend this place, especially if you've been walking the Dale's, or simply want to experience a well-run, welcoming, proper pub !

Superb little traditional country pub. Dog friendly, very cosy, log fire and low ceiling kind of place, not that the fires were required. The portions were huge (I knew immediately I wasn't finishing it without a sneaky bit under the table for 🐕). We didn't really look at the drinks prices, so after two steak and ale pies, two pints of local beer and soft drinks, we expected £60, and were given a bill of £40. Great value! 😃

What happens when you combine Italian hospitality and cuisine with an English pub? Turns out great things. Luca and his team play the perfect hosts to exceptional food in large portions at an amazing price. Excellent venue in a quiet village within easy reach of York and seaside resorts. Perfect outdoor seating area that allowed our (crazy) dogs to relax and enjoy.

Phoned the day before to book a lunchtime table. Very welcoming when we arrived. Had a good corner table for the two of us and the two dogs we have. Good choice of set menu and a board full of specials. Good range of beers and a guest ale as well. We had a chicken dish and the seafood special of the day.

Stopped off here for some grub and refreshments after a winter walk and we all loved the intimate, old-world atmosphere. Good choice of ales and while the food was relatively basic it was just the ticket. There are a couple of cosy eating rooms and the bar area has a couple of roaring fires which were very welcoming.

Lovely pub, i got a table next to the fireplace, i loved it, food and staff is great. I had a rib eye steak which was really nice and the tiramisù that came with a small chocolate filled cannolo. The place is perfect for a relaxing dinner or just for a few beers!

Incredible food with matching hospitality! We would definitely recommend this to anyone who finds themselves in the area! From walking in we were made to feel so welcome! Given our choice of where to sit and drinks arrived promptly. The food choice was perfect for a place this size, not too many options, but the perfect size to give everyone something they would enjoy! And then the food arrived! Truly incredible food! The rigatoni made to Nonna's recipe was heavenly! The meatballs melted in your mouth and were flavoured perfectly. The catch of the day was swordfish and was equally Divine! Plus the portions were massive! We both managed to finish them off though and after a break we tried a dessert each - the banoffee cake and profiteroles - and they carried on the high standards from the first course! Luca who ran front of house was hilarious and super friendly, as were all the other staff working, and the chef was amazingly talented too! 11/10 - definitely go here if you're in the area!!

Delightful. Food was beautiful, the staff were lovely and helpful and the decor was top tier. Been to a lot of pubs but this is the most ambient and 5star quality one I have been to! Complete hidden gem. X

This is our happy place! We live over an hour away and happened upon this place purely by chance after visiting Eden camp, but we've kept on coming back specifically to visit the pub because we love it. This place is just like stepping back in time, very much an olde worlde pub. If you can get next to one of the three open log fires after a cold winter walk then you might just want to stay indefinitely!! I love the 'feel' of this place and the service is always friendly.

We were looking for a nice pub for dinner on a Tuesday in February Half Term and we came across The Bay Horse on the usual Google trawl. Reviews looked good although we initially scoffed at James from London who proclaimed it was the best pub he’d ever been to…. However, he might just be right! The ambience was great, the decor quirky and thoughtfully done, and the welcome and service from Luca was warm, genuinely friendly and just the right level of attentive. Then onto the food - a mix of authentic Italian (two different pasta dishes from the main menu were demolished by our children; pollo prosciutto which was tender and tasty) and restaurant standard grill (a perfectly cooked rib-eye). Portions were generous but we just had room to fit in some tasty desserts. It was all washed down with local Yorkshire ales. Cheap? No. Good value for great food. Definitely. Just about perfection!

Just got back from Sunday lunch at the Bay Horse. Warm welcome, excellent food, very generous portions & great value. I was told the beer was very well kept but as nominated driver (again) didn't get chance to sample it. Lovely traditional interior with roaring log fires. Can't fault it. Will be back soon
