I loved it here. The historic scenery but when the steam engines came in I was loving it. Really enjoyed my drinks there.
Will go back on my next trip.
During my recent visit to the railway, I stumbled upon The Trackside Bar. It was a pleasant surprise, offering not only great food and drink but also an unparalleled setting. It quickly became the perfect way to end every evening. I'm already looking forward to my return, eager to savor a proper cider and burger while watching steam engines come and go. Definitely worth a visit!
27/05/23: Wartime 1940's weekend. It's a busy one! Lots of nostalgia and of course great beer!
14/11/22: Another visit, another pint. We had the First Chop Brewery: Jam mango pale, 4%, Ossett Brewery: Treacle Stout, 7% and a Gammon & Cheese Sandwich [photo update]
27/10/22: review & photo update. Had a lovely lunch today. 2 courses for £9.95. I had the black pudding stack, crispy bacon and peppercorn sauce on a muffin and homemade cheese & onion pie with homecooked chips and beans! She had the chicken liver pate, red onion chutney, leaves & toast, and also went for the homemade cheese & onion pie. For drinks we had Bowland Brewery: Retriever, 3.8% and Fuggle Bunny Brewery: 24 Carrot IPA, 6%. Archie slept through most of it, but enjoyed a bowl of United Utilities: H2O, 0%
August 2022: photo update, following another lovely visit. Always a great choice of keg, cask and bottle, plus ciders. Food was excellent too and even Archie had a personal visit from the Chef, with a handful of best sausage. We had a Sausage Sandwich; pork sausage served in a ciabatta, with caramelised onion gravy and tomato chutney and Lancashire Cheese & Ham Sandwich; tasty Lancashire cheese, roast ham and tomato chutney on white bread, served with dressed leaves. Also had Proper Chips each!
The Trackside Bar, situated on Platform 2, Bury Bolton Street Station. Renovated, freshened up, new & improved. As if things couldn't get any better. Fantastic selection of Cask & Keg Ales, Ciders, Perries, Stouts & of course Pub Grub. Stunning setting on the old platform of the East Lancashire Railway. A bar, and so much more! Nostalgia, history, events and also quite simply, a meeting place for friends! CAMRA pub of the year 2022.
Good selection and good prices. Could do with a few more seats though. We had a few drinks there while waiting for the East Lancs steam train. There is a bit of a battle to get your own table as there are more people going on the train than spaces in the pub itself. Had a really nice IPA there. Have not tried the food though.
I had the most incredible time at the music event held on the station platform of the steam railway. The unique setting added a nostalgic charm to the experience, with the steam trains chugging in the background. The friendly staff made the event even more enjoyable, ensuring everyone had a great time. The well-priced bar was a pleasant surprise, offering a variety of drinks to suit everyone's taste. The combination of live music, vintage ambiance, and attentive staff created a truly unforgettable evening that I can't wait to experience again.
I have been here several times over the years and it has always had a great selection of real ale. I have also been on the steam trains for a great day out. Plenty of seating inside and out. Well worth the visit.Had a good pint of Crag from the Fell brewery. My mate had Goddards from the Isle of White. A really unusual one to find.
Recently had a refurb with new tables and chairs inside and out by the track.
A great stop for a catch up. Many guest beers on tap. Cyclists welcome. So they must of had a revamp because the menu is out of this world I had the bury black pudding stack with peppercorn sauce, absolutely melt in the mouth. Nice warm atmosphere and very helpful staff.
Just had a Coke Zero, but it wasn't too expensive. It was busy, but it's a great place right next to the railway line.
it's a lovely Venue, there is a decent choice of beer (which is why most people go) I think they are a bit limited in terms of space and I notice they are now doing food but I think that is what most pubs do, it's a good pub !
A wonderful bar to visit especially if a loco is in Steam. Beer quality and selection always excellent. Also a facinating town centre. Hopefully a few photographs say more about the bar & town centre.
Good selection of beers, helpful staff & have the steam/diesel trains to watch 👍
Was always a fantastic bar for Real Ale and Ciders, but is even better since the recent refurb. Always a friendly welcome from the bar staff. HUGE choice of Ales, Craft Beers and Ciders available both on the bar and in the fridges. Also, steam trains, if you like that sort of thing.
A real ale bar with seating inside or outside on a platform at Bury's East Lancs Railway. There is always a magnificent choice of beers and ciders, the seating is comfortable and decor is railway orientated but there is also a great use of pump clips in the ceiling space highlighting the vast number of beers served to date. What's not to like, steam buffs or beer buffs, or anyone who just wants a nice pint in a friendly atmosphere will be glad they came.
Excellent venue for craft beers and ciders. Relaxed atmosphere and the bonus of steam trains stopping outside the window during daytime hours.
I haven't eaten here but friends say the food is good.
Excellent, very atmospheric pub, with outside seating right on the platform of the East Lancs heritage railway. Large selection of real ales available.
Don't serve food, the selection of drinks at the bar is awesome
Great place! Staff are lovely. Good range of drinks. This has become my go to local bar
