Just got home from a lovely night spent at The Angel Hotel. Really liked the feel of the place, the decor was great, and the staff were so friendly, helpful & welcoming. LOVED the Wingspan Bar, and the Amaretto Sour was absolutely delicious! We were originally meant to stay in an 'Originals' room, but no hot water resulted in us being upgraded (without any fuss) to the 'Romantics Suite'. It was THE best room/ suite I've ever stayed in, and the roll-top bath & walk-in shower were something else. I would definately recommend the hotel to my friends & family, and hopefully I'll be lucky enough to stay there again
Me and my girlfriend came here yesterday to have lunch for her birthday and i must say that the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was presented with excellence and with an outstanding taste. We shall definitely pay a visit here again, I most definitely recommend this place its a lovely place to eat and the standard of the angel hotel is very high. Thank you to all the staff for doing a great job in the restraunt
I had the best dinner of my life here the other night. (Veggie) The French head waiter was so lovely and so was the lady. I met the chef after my dinner and he was such a great guy. I have had the privilege of being cooked for by some of the greatest celebrity chefs, this was much better. I cannot speak highly enough about this place. Staff fantastic, food incredible, thank you
We travelled from Ipswich to celebrate my brothers 50th birthday.
The service was excellent, I happened to mention it was his birthday and they were extra attentive. The food was excellent ( I have never had a brownie like it )
Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful building. Room well presented and excellent facilities. Our roomhad a view over the abbey so were able to watch the firework display from our room. Staff all polite, helpful and only too pleased to assist in any way. Breakfast this morning delicious - extremely limited choice for me though as I have many food intolerences. Great weekend. Thank you!
What a wonderful lunch my mum and I had on Sunday. From the lovely table overlooking the Christmas Fayre; the brilliant staff, attentive and caring without being OTT (so helpful with mum’s walker, even if we couldn’t make it go in a straight line );the amazing food (soooo good!) and the chilled, relaxing ambience (quite a feat, given how busy everything was!). Two out of two fantastic meals since we discovered the delights of coach trips from Lowestoft. Can’t wait to visit again and am saving my pennies to stay one day, too.
Love the Angel Hotel.
Have been a customer for years.
Great service, staff, lovely food and rooms
Charming place.
I love coming here. Never ceases to amaze me. Staff are wonderful and the food is amazing. Sunday roast is the best by far. Such a lovely place to eat, drink and socialise.
Some of the best food I have eaten in a very long time. Top marks to the chef.
Sometimes go there after a meal out for coffee. Always a treat, with nice friendly staff and good coffee.
Stayed there this weekend for our anniversary - lovely hotel and very convenient situation close to shops and restaurants. A beautiful view of the Abbey and Cathedral from our room! A handwritten note and chocolates congratulating us on our anniversary was a lovely personal touch. Would def recommend
Nice place for lunch. Excellent service and friendly atmosphere, lovely sitting in the lounge by the fire.
Only had A snack with coffees but I was impressed by the service for such a small order.
I’m a local to the town and as always The Angel hotel is where I take my friends and family for an excellent dining experience. The staff are all incredibly friendly and professional. The aim is for you to be looked after with care and attention. The decor is beautiful and fun. There is always a buzzy atmosphere. If you haven’t been then go! Even if it’s just to try one of their signature cocktails. Here’s some photos over the last couple of years. Hurrah for The Angel 👼! X
I was given a gift for afternoon tea for two and went yesterday. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly taking into account my dislike of mustard and nuts. Was given an extra tartlet instead of macaron. The food was delicious, had to take some of the sweet bits home. The brie and cranberry muffin was amazing, and the chocolate eclaire and tartlet.
As it was a birthday gift we were given an extra bit of brownie with a message on. Lots of teas to choose from and coffee to.
The Angel Hotel restaurant in Bury St Edmunds offers a delightful dining experience, with delicious food and excellent service. The presentation of the food was beautiful, adding to the overall enjoyment. The restaurant also boasts a great selection of wines, allowing you to pair your meal perfectly. The staff provided top-notch service, ensuring a memorable and pleasant visit. Overall, I would rate The Angel Hotel restaurant 10/10 for its delicious food, beautiful food presentation, and great wine selections.
Tried the 3 course meal with a cocktail for £35. It was excellent. A good choice 3 different starters, mains and deserts. The service was very good. The restaurant is well spaced out with interesting decor.
Great location in the town, opposite entrance to Abbey Gardens. Parking 10 minutes walk at Ram Meadows £3 for the whole day.
Myself and my friend attended Saturday for the afternoon tea. We were greeted very politely when we arrived by all staff and shown to our table. Darren was serving our table and provided a fab service, with a smile throughout. The afternoon tea we received was delicious and a great choice. We would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back again. Thank you all again for an amazing afternoon tea experience.

Fabulous restaurant in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. Everyone is attentive without being 'over the top'. Superb evening menu which is good value for the quality of food, presentation and service. We really cannot fault this amazing venue. We would highly recommend you book in advance and we will be returning again in the near future.
We love the Eaterie at the Angel Hotel. The atmosphere is great, the service is always prompt and responsive, and the food is outstanding. Items on the menu change based on what the chefs sourced, but it means the food is always fresh and there are always new options. My wife and I have eaten here probably 10 times since we moved to the area a year and a half ago, and it’s been outstanding every time. Probably one of the best restaurants in Bury. 👍
Lovely decor in a nice hotel in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. Very friendly staff, and as you can see it’s dog friendly too (massive bonus!).
The setting, ambience, and the fire all add to the experience. The menu is interesting, and the food was good. I felt I added quite a lot of salt to mine, but of course that’s personal taste. The haddock was a little greasy. If I could give this place 4.5 stars I would, but for me a 5* is exceptional, so a worthy 4 stars. Lovely way to spend an evening
Absolutely the best pie we have ever tasted! Excellent place to celebrate my birthday, lovely comfortable surroundings and the staff were engaging interesting chatty and great fun. We will definitely visit again - Excellent parking for disabled drivers right out side 3 hours free!
We loved the Angel Hotel! Our dog was also made to feel welcome, with a water bowl in the room, and even a squeaky ball treat.
Dogs are not allowed in the bar or restaurant, but we had delicious cocktails and nibbles in the lounge area, and Scooby loved the endless attention from staff and customers alike.
Afternoon looked great, served on 3 tiers.
Breakfast was superb, with fresh fruit salad, pancakes, avocado and poached eggs - and anything else you fancied.
Such a lovely space to enjoy afternoon tea. Open fire, soft furnishings. Service was wonderful. Food was delicious. Not many black tea varieties offered, and personally we would have all liked more sandwiches and less sweet things, but that is personal preference. There were only 3 tiny sandwich fingers. All delicious, hence we would have liked more. Glass of champers was an enjoyable start!
Afternoon tea at The Angel Hotal was a lovely special treat for New Year's Eve.
We had the luxury afternoon menu with a glass each of champagne, which was a good value edition.
The gluten free selection was just as broad as the regular selection, which was a welcome surprise. The gluten free fruit scones were especially good.
Atmosphere benefited from the buzz of the seasonal occasion. Staff were friendly and effective.
Absolutely delicious pie with generous amounts of fresh vegetables, mashed potato and gravy. All in a cool, yet comfy dining room, provided by cool yet charming staff. Short but well constructed wine list - lots of good value options. Highly, highly recommended.
The Angel was such a welcoming venue. Celebrating a friends birthday we were so well looked after, with some lovely birthday touches, a birthday plate and also a card left at the table. The food and service were both fabulous. I cannot wait for my next visit.
Great celebration for 10 of us at the Angel. The food was amazing and the staff were attentive and helped to make our afternoon special.
Went to The Angel for afternoon tea to celebrate our daughter's 40th Birthday. We sat in the Dining Room which we thought was better, food, service and atmosphere all excellent. We all had a very enjoyable time.
Another great impromptu lunch. Lovely food 😊🌸💕Prawn Sandwich, fries and salad - delicious 🤤 great service too ☺️
