Always one of my favourite places to come home to. Wonderful friendly atmosphere whilst maintaining high standards of professionalism in both customer service and dining. All the staff are amazing but waitress Jess is always particularly warm and helpful and gives the best menu recommendations.
Burnsall has been a favourite of ours since the kids were little. We still go often to this day. The red lion is a fabulous Inn and the rooms are extremely clean and spacious. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. We are staying again at the end of April and can't wait.
The guest room (room 5) was cosy and comfortable with great views across the village green and towards the fells. The room was quiet, the beds were comfortable and the hospitality tray was generous. On arrival, although the radiator was switched on, the room was cold. However, reception were happy to provide us with an additional heater. Unfortunately, the shower was unreliable as the water ran cold in the morning making it unusable. The evening dining experience was excellent (good quality food and generous portions), as was the breakfast the following morning. The guest lounge is in need of a deep clean and redecoration - not sure why the fire logs are left on the carpet against the wall and are not put in a basket. It could be a lovely cozy area to sit before or after dinner with some TLC. Without exception the staff were friendly and efficient. Overall we had a great stay and would happily stay again.
What a lovely pub in an absolutely gorgeous location! We ordered the vegetarian and beef pies - both were absolutely delicious!
The staff are warm and friendly and the pub itself is massive, but has a cosy and charming vibe. Would highly recommend if you're in Burnsall!
Didn't stay, only had a drink and a small meal. Nice atmosphere, great crowd of visitors and residents. Interior best described as old fashioned shabby chic, but nothing wrong with that, it feels less a hotel and more a pub.
Had Sunday dinner here last week. I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Whoever the chef is you need to hang on to them, everything was delicious, well cooked and hot. Well done 👏👏👏
Pictures from the cottage window 🙂👍very nice place to stop over in Yorkshire. Restaurant food very good, service good and a big log fire too keep you warm. Would come back again and stay if in area.
Went through Burnsall on the way back from Bolton Abbey and spotted just how pretty it was with the river Wharfe running through and the stone Bridge over the river path down to hebden metal bridge so we knew we would go back and visit. The red lion is a hotel as well as a pub/ restaurant & holds a prime position right next to the river. It has a huge beer garden, and we were expecting to have to sit outside but our furry boys were allowed in ... well done red lion for not discriminating against pet owners. Its also sensible not to lose their business , so van never understand how more venues dont have this approach. We had garlic & thyme chicken breast breast with the best red cabbage, yorkshire pud and gravy I've tasted, cauliflower cheese, mashed turnip, roasties & green veg. And have to say it was one of the best Sunday dinners we've eaten. We really wanted a sweet ... but just didn't hav room. It was excellent quality food and quite enough on your plate. On the standards of the food, would definitely stay in the hotel and lap up those views as well as the food
Great location. We had a few beers which were very good, food was ok but the service left a bit to be desired asked for horse radish sauce and some more gravy had to repeatedly ask which detracts from the experience and the food
I stayed one night and because I enjoyed it so much I stayed another. The staff was wonderful! Very friendly, fun and they did a great job. It was very clean and beautifully decorated for Christmas and was a wonderful experience. Great attention to detail and service was superb. Thank you very much! Highly recommend it.
A beautiful inn in one of the best locations in the Dales. It really doesn't get much better than this place. Great rooms, amazing food and drink. A good selection of local ales and good wines. Staff always welcoming and it's very dog friendly. The view from the bridge outside the door is stunning and the walk up the river through the gorge, across the suspension bridge over the river Wharfe to Linton Falls and Grassington (the filming location for All Creatures Great and Small) must be one of the most beautiful in Yorkshire. 6.5 miles there and back.
My family of 9 did not actually stay at the Red Lion but we certainly will in the future. having rented a House across the road from The Red Lion we arrived and discovered the cooking facilities were not working! there was no means to cook Christmas dinner or any of the food we had brought. We contacted the owners and were told nothing could be done before Christmas. This was devastating as we had two small children with us. We went to the red Lion to ask if they could help? The pub was very busy but the owners were amazing and although they could not fit us in on Christmas day they said that they could provide us with turkey and stuffing for all of us and my sons managed to buy a couple of air fryers from a store in Bradford, so we could cook the vegetables etc. The Couple who own the pub saved our Christmas and we were very grateful. Over our stay we spent a lot of time in the Red Lion eating and drinking. the food was excellent and all the staff were lovely. We fully intend to visit again but we will book the Red Lion next time.
I booked a table for six at the restaurant located at The Red Lion, as a Mothers Day treat for my wife and our family.
The country pub, hotel and restaurant is located in the heart of Burnsall; a charming little village in the Yorkshire Dales. On sunny days, the village is a great location from which to use as a starting point, head off and enjoy walks, such as along the River Wharfe, explore and take in some beautiful scenes and then return this 16th Century Inn to enjoy a real ale, and order from their award-winning menu.
As it is (currently) early May and weather not particularly good, I booked the table for its country restaurant ambience and tasty food. We weren't disappointed.
A group of us visited the Red Lion last week on the way back from Bolton Abbey, they managed to squeeze us in despite hosting a larger party the same afternoon.
Such a traditional pub full of character, the staff were very warm and friendly.
The food was, wholesome and good value and we'll definitely return...
Excellent rooms in The Manor House.
Staff very pleasant, easy check in.
Used the restaurant and the meals were excellent.
Would definitely recommend
