Top marks. Nice variety of ales in good condition. Even a craft on draught. The food was way above pub grub. Inventive, well presented and tasty. I was jealous of the roast which looked superb. A real fire and soothing atmosphere with a steady stream of customers.

The food was phenomenal. Not a single complaint! Some of the best I've ever tasted and beautifully presented. The staff were... Young, inexperienced and clearly not getting enough training. Posting my cutlery through a gap in the wall divider and plopping it on a dirty table is less than ideal. Not to mention no clear instructions on ordering. FoH management need to have a bit of a shake up I think and support their young staff more with additional training.

My friend and myself have been today for lunch. I can honestly say it’s the best lunch I have had in a long time. We both chose the “Posh Gammon and Egg” off the specials board and it was absolutely excellent. Compliments to the chef but please keep it on the specials board so I can order it again when we will return. Thank you.

We went for lunch after our daughters wedding, they let us use the brasserie as there was only 12 of us. They allowed us to decorate the room with flowers, balloons and candles and it looked amazing. The staff were excellent, very patient and friendly enough to put us all at ease and couldnt have done more for us.. The food was top notch and very reasonably priced. We had the most wonderful day. Thank you Fence Gate. We will definitely be back soon.

I cannot think of anything that could be improved upon in respect of this place. The exterior of the building is beautiful. People evidently work exceptionally hard to ensure that is is well maintained. The food was wonderful and nicely presented. It was absolutely lovely. The menu choices were excellent. The members of staff were knowledgeable about the menu and could answer questions that were put to them. The man who took our orders gave excellent recommendations. He was extremely kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

It's such a pleasure these days to still be able to find the kind of perfect watering hole you thought no longer exists. From the warm wèlcoming atmosphere to the prompt service followed by exceptional food at very good prices this was a delight. Dog friendly with even our dog being given a few treats of his own by the staff. Looking forward to another visit when next in the area.

Starters and mains were good. We ordered duck spring Rolls and goat cheese which were very good quality and size. My goat cheese came with a plastic on it but not a big deal its something which can happen, the waitress or hostess did apologise and changed it, the fish and should come with chips but came with potatoes instead nothing to complain about as I liked to chips. Very nice place to enjoy the weather outside. After reading some comments felt like the drinks were too expensive but nothing wrong with the prices, we had half moretti and a glass of white wine for £7.25 which is very correct. The girl in bar sent a wrong beer as she was on training and it was her first day but I think we should not leave her alone in the bar since she's not 100% ready. Nothing to blame her about but making a point for the manager. But still recommand the place will come back for sure

We stayer here for one night over the bank holiday weekend. I wanted something special, something abit more luxurious than we have had before (not that we dont love budget stays) and this is certainly what we got! The junior suite was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom.....just waw! Pleasant staff on reception and a great location near the Forest of Bowland.

Fabulous food here. Cannot fault food and service. You have the Bar area where you can take dogs, staff will bring water for your pups. You can dine in the restaurant area. Plenty of different brands of Gin. There is a outdoor seating area for the summer.

Food and surroundings are great. Service could have been improved slightly by asking us if we needed more drinks. When I asked for another drink the waitress seemed really put out and asked "what do you want" even then she never asked the rest of the table if they wanted anything, so when my friend asked to add to the order she looked very put out. Earlier she had been fine. I think it was nearing her break because she went off and ate a pudding at the counter. Other than that it's a great place. Great food, I've been dining here for years and will continue to do so. All the other staff were really friendly and approachable.
