A lovely pub, with very friendly staff, the food was lovely, I have coeliac disease and their gluten free menu is really good, I had fish and chips, the cod was really tasty and I've not tasted batter like that since I was diagnosed, it was lovely, light and crispy, and they even do gluten free desserts! it was the best meal I've had out for years.

Really lovely pub. Landlord was fantastic checking ingredients for me as son has allergies. Delicious range of food and genuinely something for everyone. (One milk allergy sufferer and one vegan doesn’t normally make for great dining experiences). Can’t wait to go back.

Hidden gem, well worth a visit, I would recommend phoning in advance to see what's on the menu or availability for that day or making sure they have a table. The owners go out of there way to make everyone feel welcome and it's easy to meet new people

Wow is all I can say, as a qualified chef I'm amazed at the quality and price! The service was outstanding and the food really is to die for. Book and you will not be disappointed. The negative comments on here are very polar opposite of the service and food we received. Outstanding 10/10 it's so lovely to come to a proper village pub and have the atmosphere of a village pub, the locals are so lovely here just like the staff here. We will be back, by far the best food on the Marsh!!

Highly recommend this pub ! The food is fantastic and of good value, plus the service is very welcoming and professional. They are a family run pub that know how to welcome people, and have a history of running a public house. 5 star rating and looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely Sunday Roast and can accommodate for those with Coeliac Disease! We stayed in East Sussex over the Coronation weekend and were looking for somewhere that offered a Sunday Lunch suitable for a family of four (couple and two children) and that could cater for my wife who has Coeliac Disease. Upon arrival, we were met by a friendly gentleman behind the bar who served us with a smile and had a great conversation. We spoke to the chef who advised us on the gluten free roast dinner. They confirmed that everything was gluten free except the gravy and yorkshire pudding, but they went out their way to make a gluten free gravy for my wife. The food was very tasty and both meals and drinks were very reasonably priced. A pint of cask ale, medium Rose wine and two fruit shoots came to £11. The roasts were also very good value, a small plate, suitable for a child included one meat of choice from five (beef, lamb, pork, gammon and turkey). This was £6.95. The medium plate was £10.95 and included a choice of two meats, the large plate was £11.95 and included all five meat choices. Overall, a friendly and charming venue in a nice part of the countryside. I highly recommend!

The Sheperd and Crook is one of the brighest gems in the crown of the Romney Marsh. Come and meet the congenial hosts Jess, Jay and Logan and they will make you feel at home. They'll feed you with tasty wholesome, traditionaly cooked pub grub that you will love (Yum, Yum!). The Ales, Ciders, Wines and Spirits on offer are of high quality and the prices are reflected in the Freehouse status of the pub (very reasonable). I can't recommended this well run establishment highly enough. Get out on the Marsh and be entertained by proper Marshians, you'll be over the Moon 😘 BTW this pub is dog friendly 🐶 Woof!

The pizzas are amazing! They have fantastic deals on a Tuesday and Wednesday, which include a big variety of pizza toppings, starters, and desserts! If you haven't been to try their food yet, you really must get down there

I've lived in the village of Burmarsh almost all of my life and in that time there's been several owners of the pub. Previous owners have made it feel almost alienating but I can honestly say that the current owners and staff are just amazing, they're welcoming, interactive and everything you'd expect a local pub to be. The food is amazing and they're so generous with the portions that you wont have to eat for the rest of the day. (Their adorable dogs are just a bonus).

Friendly local pub, varied menu and good ales. Soup of the day (pictured) was chicken and sweetcorn. Useful stopping point on marsh walks; lots of seating indoors and outside under sun umbrellas. Dogs welcomed inside to the bar.
