This was our second visit to The Windmill and as expected, we had an excellent dining experience. The setting in the middle of Cotswold Countryside is wonderful and there is a large garden area which makes it suitable for events like Wedding Receptions, etc. The restaurant is very comfortable and has a really welcoming atmosphere. On arrival our greeting was very friendly and professional which set the tone for the whole experience. The menu has a good and varied range and our food was excellently presented and cooked. The drinks menu caters for all tastes. The whole dining experience was first class and we would eat here more often if it weren’t for the 34 miles trip each way, so this is for us a special event venue! The toilets are spotless. Recommended.

A lovely find. Love my afternoon/lunch spent here. Friendly and nice owner with super service, tranquil environment with a nice field for kids to run around. Food were great, especially the fish and chips. Environment is clean and well maintained. Please do visit if its on the way for your next destination. To the owner, thank you for a wonderful meal.

We stopped off at the Windmill on the way back home from North Devon. Had a beautiful Sunday roast for 5 with deserts. Great food and setting with excellent service. Will hopefully come back again in the future.

Had a private function there for the whole day into the evening with the whole team from the company. Absolutely beautiful location and really friendly and helpful owners and staff. Spent some time chatting with the owners who had some really interesting life stories. Food was good too. And of course, the absolutely lovable Great Dane!

I’m reviewing this though I haven’t actually been here, giving it as close to the amount of stars it usually has as to not change to average. Just wanted to say to Barry the fella who handles the google maps customer service that he may need to rein it in a bit as he’s scaring away customers. Do appreciate a different spin on review responses but you certainly scared us from visiting. Your food looks fab but constructive criticism can sometimes actually be a good thing. You did give me a good laugh though reading through some of them. Maybe we’ll come someday and decide for ourselves. Best regards

Found The Windmill as we travelled back from a day in Oxford. No expectations, just looking for a meal... The location is isolated but just off the A40. Seemed quiet for a Friday night but the menu gave a good selection, especially of gluten free options, which we always look for, and our food was delicious - main and deserts. The staff were really nice but the star was the Great Dane who welcomed us at the door - a real gentle giant. 🐕 Thoroughly recommended.

Warm friendly feel to the place. Lovely quiet setting with fantastic views out to the rolling hills of the Cotswolds countryside. Food was great, service was really good and considering we were a table of 8 they managed us really well along with a couple of other large tables that were also in at the same time. Compared to a lot of other places we have tried around the Witney area, we found this to have been the most impressive and one of the better evenings yet and would definitely return!

The views from this restaurant are second to none. The food exceeded our expectations, we had a 3 course lunch and each course was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and speedy, perhaps a little too efficient but I think it was due to the fact the restaurant was very quiet and the waiting staff may have been new and being trained and so a bit eager. All in all, would absolutely visit again.

We visited almost 2 years ago to celebrate a special occasion, and we were very impressed. The food was excellent, probably one of the best restaurants we have dined at, and will definitely come again, although we live 75 miles away! The views were stunning too.

As a visitor from North Carolina, USA, I thoroughly enjoyed Sunday Roast with my daughter and friend at the Windmill restaurant. The service was exceptional and once our order was taken, we were served within a short span of time, with friendliness and extreme hospitality. The food was fresh, well-prepared and very tasteful. It was the best experience I’ve had for a Sunday lunch and can personally recommend it without any doubt!

My friend and I arrived at midday (11th Dec 2021) and were invited to choose a table. We selected one by the window for the beautiful scenic views, despite the wet and grey weather. The waitress was very patient as we had been chatting and not decided what we would eat at first, so we ordered some drinks, which arrived in good time. After eventually choosing and ordering our food, we did not have long to wait before it was brought out to us. We both had the Ribeye Steak, with chips and mushrooms. It was all very hot and tasty. We chatted for a little while after finishing and subsequently decided to have a dessert of Bread & Butter Pudding with Creme Anglaise. It was delicious!! The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The food was well-priced and cooked nicely. We felt very relaxed at The Windmill and would definitely recommend to others

After dropping in on the hop for something to eat, we have fallen into a really lovely restaurant. The Chicken dinner was delicious, the atmosphere relaxing and the family running it so friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. This is our new destination to meet our friends and family on our half way trips. A little oasis off the A40. Avril and Chris

So last time we came here, it was like an old people's nursing home. What a turn around. The main restaurant is set out very nicely and then you can eat outside on the decking, with stunning views. The service is very helpful and friendly. The food is great. And cost of the meal is very competitive

New look and new manager. Great views from this restaurant of the Cotswolds. Beautiful decor throughout. Simple lunch menu, but great all the same. Ingredients very fresh and everything prepared on site. Very attentive staff. Will go back to try the evening menu.
