First visit today, all I can say is if I could give ten stars I would. Fabulous place. The place was really busy and the although the staff were working really hard they were still really friendly but at the same time efficient, nothing was too much trouble, well done all. The food was to die for. Beautifully cooked and generous portions. Have booked for Christmas Day lunch and cannot wait. Totally recommend.

Found this lovely pub during our 8 day stay at Dickley Court with a group of 14. The menu was excellent, the service spectacular and the atmosphere was amazing. We usually cook during our trips but not when we had this superb gem right down the street within walking distance. The staff didn't blink when the 14 of us showed up. We recommend everything. I believe we tasted all that was offered. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the veggie lasagna was creamy and full of delightful vegetables. There is a great selection of sides and I found I like peas ... well, The Chequers at Burcot peas. Cheers Chef and Staff!

The meal was a gift for babysitting our grandchildren. The Chequers is a very nice building, the night we went there was a lovely roaring fire and we were welcomed by the bar staff and shown to our table. The menu had lots of choice. The food was excellent and the service was first class. We would certainly recommend it to anyone

We have visited quite a few times before, including 2 Christmas Days, and never been disappointed. This was the first time since it has been refreshed and the look is so much better. The menu still has the favourites and they have a good selection of beers, wines and a gin list. Our friends who have never been before loved everything, and we all had the 3 courses, all of which were faultless. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and we will certainly be returning more often. Brilliant

We attended for our first visit to the Chequers last night, for our last date night before we welcome our son to our family. The setting and the quality of the dining room, bar area and facilities was superb. The drinks and service were excellent. Then the food came and we were blown away, it’s one of the best meals we have ever had. We had a shared board with prawn cocktail, scotch egg, black bomber and cheddar cheese, pate and smoked ham - all were delicious. Then t-bone steaks with a selection of sides such as mac and cheese, cauliflower cheese, triple cooked chips with truffle and Parmesan, peas with shallots, bacon and garlic, wild truffled mushrooms and a mushroom and a peppercorn sauce and the hot and cold mess to finish - and we couldn’t finish it all but we didn’t want it to end either, we wanted to try as much as we could, as it all sounded so nice, and we weren’t disappointed, although the left overs were a shame, cannot wait to go back and it is highly recommended.

We visited The Chequers at Burcot yesterday evening with friends, it was our first visit and my husband and I were very impressed. The food was so delicious, lots of choice and it was cooked perfectly. The drinks list was extensive and I even had a cocktail made for me that wasn't on the menu! The service was fantastic, the staff were very welcoming, the atmosphere was delightful. Beautiful gastro pub. Looking forward to returning again soon. Highly recommended.

I'm a truck driver and was parked in a lay by for the night and fancied something different than a microwave meal. So I looked on Google maps and was only 1 mile away. I had Scotch egg for starter which was stunning followed by fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce..... absolutely loved it. Worth every penny. Lovely staff and was made very welcome. If I'm over that way again i will definitely be calling in.

Lovely english pub with excellent cuisine. We enjoyed french onion soup, fabulous bavette steak and vegetarian lasagne. I seldom dined so fantastic. The staff was very friendly and welcoming to two hungry bikers & in addition a great compliment to the chef! Will share my pub impressions back home in Austria :)

The food, drinks and service here are phenomenal. Staff are all so helpful and friendly. Landlady and her husband also so welcoming. The decor is really quirky and fun. Such a beautiful village pub. I just attended a wedding for 19 guests on a rainy summers day and the outdoor covered seating area was perfect. Indoor private function area was decorated beautifully with flowers and fairy lights.. very dreamy! The rooms are also perfection. 10/10! Really impressed!

The flavours were amazing. I had the venison. Will be going back to try the fillet steak. Yes it is expensive but the quality is superb. Highly recommend going as a treat.

Great food. Came here with a couple of friends on a quiet Friday lunchtime and the food was fab. I had the duck starter and then the pork belly - both cooked impeccably. Staff were really friendly and the service was really well-timed. Really good experience.

Outstanding pub with outside cabin/ chalet style double bed accommodation. Very modern rooms with everything you could want. Great bathroom and shower facilities too. Fantastic traditional Sunday dinner in the cosy pub restaurant with log fire. Highly recommend.

Sunday lunch today was superb! From the moment we were warmly welcomed , treated like the only customers there , despite it being full, til the moment we left. The food was ‘ Mwah ‘ and the service was brilliant. We’ve been to this pub maybe a dozen times and every time come home totally satisfied. This was our first Sunday lunch but definitely not our last.

Amazing food and the staff (Maddy Sanderson as lead of customer smiles) make you feel as if you’re eating dinner at home. Noticed some recent negative reviews - not sure where these come from as my multiple meals here during my cozy stay proved the consistent quality of the Chequers every day and night across meals. Highly recommend the fish and chips and San Miguel on draft, and if you’re bold enough - go for the donuts for dessert. WOW :)

Expensive for what it is. Food was far too expensive for what is merely a pub, plus they add a 12% service charge. Couldn't get parked on Friday night as the restaurant was busy with non-hotel guests and we just wanted to get in and nack to our room. Room size was reasonable and the accommodation was clean, and a nice shower w/c room. Needed a chair or unit to put a case on, rather than a pot plant in the corner.

5 of us went for Sunday lunch yesterday 20th August. The food was fantastic, service friendly and obliging. Only criticism was the roast potatoes were over salted and not enough choice in main courses for vegetarians. Would definitely go again and highly recommend The Chequers

Lovely lunch. Wonderful fish and chips and creme brulee. Service was good but too quick. Not enough time between courses, quite rushed.

A great lunch at The Chequers. The interior is excellent, with huge cow heads on the wall! The food was great, super sunday lunches and fish and chips, all served with a friendly group of staff.

A decent menu with enough choice for everyone. The starters are a strong suite and mains sound, though the fish and chips were not as tasty as those eaten by the seaside. Plenty of pudding choices, the lemon posset was particularly good with an excellent shortbread biscuit. Dedecated vegans and animal lovers may find the antelope and longhorn cattle heads sticking out of the walls in the main room a challenge. Parking is tight on busy nights.

What a great place to stay, great atmosphere and wonderful food. The hosts Steven and Madalina were welcoming and friendly. The food is excellent and they have a really good wine list including Chateau Musar from the Lebanon. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Update 08/2023- still lovely but do not pay the service charge, staff DO NOT receive it. Delicious Sunday lunch, the staff were attentive and the food was excellent. Portion sizes were larger than I was expecting! £30 for two courses seemed reasonable for the quality. Would recommend.

Great pub-restaurant-hotel serving delicious food. We had lunch, dinner and then the breakfast next day and everything was spot on. The pub and restaurant are nicely decorated with fireplace, nice lighting and cosy furniture. They’ve got an amazing chef and the staff is professional, helpful and always smiling. Rooms are neat and tidy and there is plenty of attractions in the area. We will definitely visit The Chequers at Burcot again.
