We came here as we wanted to find a little authentic Italian restaurant whilst on holiday in Exmouth. The atmosphere was nice, the staff seemed a little rushed off their feet. Service was quite slow, but food was ready quite quickly. There was only 3 servers but given it was the summer holidays there may have been staff on leave. The food was lovely, nice big portions. The price was above average, slightly more than expected but we ended the night with a nice scoop of gelato that we went up and picked ourselves. If there’s kids in there (which is likely as there’s a gelato fridge where kids swarm to to pick their ice creams) then it can be loud and echoey. But overall we had a pleasant evening
We have eaten in many restaurants around the world and Marco's Italian Restaurant in Budleigh Salterton is ranked highly due to the very fine skills of the talented chef, Marco.
If you want pizza, have it, but we suggest you take opportunity from the main menu. The food is fresh, seasoning balanced and full of flavour. We had the best steak, cooked perfectly rare to order and the veal.

Dog friendly! My meal was served 5 mins after my husband's and his vegetables were 10mins after his lambcutlets, and only arrived after talking with the waiter. Food was very tasty.
Big group of us and all happy. Wide range of choices and everyone enjoyed their meals with the odd dish a little under seasoned. Friendly, helpful staff despite it being very busy when we arrived. Maybe a little over priced but it's the only Italian in the town and definitely worth trying.
I judge a place instantly on the cleanliness of menus, cutlery and glassware and it was spotless. I had the filet steak in a pepper sauce. One of the best steaks I have ever had. We also really enjoyed the Veneto Merlot - really smooth and no hang over today! Great staff, lovely lady behind the bar- she has exactly the right approach with people and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble, Excellent meal and great fun. The chefs deserve a special mention because without them ...well let's say they are excellent. Will be back!
Food was excellent and great service we turned up without booking and were lucky to get a table so it is advisable to pre book as this place is really popular and understandably so

Absolutely one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Fillet steak and raspberry compote. Lovely service too. Book Table in advance as this is the best restaurant in Budleigh and very popular.
We had a really lovely meal. Really friendly staff, Marco from Sardinia and Antonio from Rome. A really lovely selection of authentic Italian food. We will be back. Thanks.
Updated review - Marco's is still a first class restaurant which explains the amount of 5* reviews. The food, freshly cooked by Marco, was excellent (and you get a plate of vegetables with your main 😋), the prices are reasonable and the staff attentive and friendly - probably explains why the restaurant was fairly full on a Monday evening in February! (so booking recommended).
Also, the twice yearly murder mystery evenings where the entire proceeds go to a charity giving disadvantaged children access to education in Kenya are entertaining and well worth attending

First time eating here. We had to book a table in advance. Restaurant very clean and well maintained. A good selection of Italian food and wine on the menu. About average prices. Served quickly and efficiently by friendly staff. We really enjoyed our food and wine and will be returning soon.
