Had planned to get fish n chips but closed so looking around and a couple were coming out just as we passed. ‘Any good ?’ I asked them. ‘ Probably the best Indian we’ve ever eaten’ came the reply. So in we went and we were not disappointed! Brilliant flavours. Fair price. Lovely service. Could not recommend more highly.
Congratulations to the chef, the food was delicious, with well marinated tender meat. All dishes ordered were exceptionally tasty.
The appearance of the waiters needs to improve as they looked unkempt. The waiter took our card and tapped to pay, having previously added a few extra pennies to our bill…only 50p though…
The restaurant decoration looks dated. Had very clean white tablecloths. The tables are fairly close to each other as often happens in Indian restaurants with approximately a 50% occupation. We did not have to wait long to be served. The portion sizes are quite large.
Food was lovely but improving the appearance of the waiters and slight modernisation of the premises, would make the place perfect!

We’ve eaten at the Taj Mahal in Budleigh Salterton many times over the years whilst on holiday (from Stockport) and we’ve always had VERY enjoyable meals.
Tonight was exceptionally outstanding!
From the quality of the food to service to atmosphere (beautiful newish refurbishment) to the cleanliness/hygiene (which is rated a 5) was 5 stars all round.
This is the Taj Mahal you want to be inside enjoying an authentic Indian meal rather than standing outside admiring the architecture.
The local residents of Budleigh Salterton are very lucky to have such an excellent curry house.
Thank you for a brilliant meal and experience. We look forward to returning on New Years Eve 2023/24.
Ordered Taj Mahal for delivery at Ladram Bay holiday park.
Tipped the driver well as I only waited 35 mins from the time I ordered, only to be annoyed that I ended up with less poppadoms than I what ordered and no mango chutney sauce that I paid for. 😩
Anyways, onto the food.
I’m an avid curry fan, Indian is my go to food for most of my meals.
I can handle a bit of heat and eat a wide range of curry dishes.
I didn’t want crazy hot, so ordered the chicken tikka Balti with pilau rice and garlic naan.
Balti is quite a dry heat dish.
A heat id absolutely recommended for beginners of spicy food.
It’ll warm your head up, and helped to clear my blocked nose, but doesn't leave your mouth needing to drink loads of water or milk to cool the heat and aftertaste and is very comfortable.
This Balti is definitly one of the best Balti dishes I have eaten from many different Indian restaurants.

I loved my time at the restaurant, Ahkash was a brilliant server and was really friendly and funny. I usually don’t eat Indian food but I was pleasantly surprised. 10/10 I’m going again in July 👌🏾

Food was amazing! We ordered for collection, however we came to collect at the time given but ended up waiting an extra 20 mins, we were compensated, That aside it was definitely worth the wait, best indian meal I've had in a long time, Thank you!

Service impeccable, starters delish, main course divine.
Husband never been in an Indian restaurant before and was well pleased would definitely Dine here again.

Newly decorated with hand painted murals. Dined here two nights running, it was so good. Lots of lovely Indian and Bangladeshi dishes. I was particularly taken with the chicken Saatkora, a citrus lime dish😋😋😋. Sorry not to post pics of meals. Scoffed them too quickly!!!
Food, service was perfect, only disappointment was the toilets were not not nice water over the floor & not very clean, which would have thought would have been priority for eat in customers, but apart from that lovely evening, or would been 5 stars all round.
