We had a wonderful supper here. The food was exceptionally well cooked and beautifully presented. A thoroughly enjoyable meal. A great selection of gins too.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great value. We were a group of seven and they had no problem taking a booking of this size. There were one vegan and one vegetarian in our group and everyone liked most of the menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. You have the table for the night so there is no pressure to eat up so they can seat another group. The bill was pleasantly small at the end of the night. Would definitely recommend.
Pleasantly surprised. On the face of it, you don’t expect it to be as good as it was.
The food is like small plate / Tapas and what we had was all really nice and would recommend this place.
The calamari was delicious with ample portion to share.
We also had Duck buns, Thai chicken, buffalo wings with curly fries and it fed 3 of us nicely.
Found this little hidden gem when looking for somewhere to stop for a drink to avoid the downpour. We was so pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome of the staff and the atmosphere in all they had recently a new puppy who they let come out after checking everyone was ok with it. They made a huge fuss over our dog who is very shy at times and the coffee and gin was just right. All in all a great experience wish we hadn’t had just eaten lunch so we could have stayed for food.
Impromptu stop to avoid the rain yesterday. Our party of 6 were made to feel very welcome and the staff were great with my kids. The hot chocolate was lovely, and a good selection of local beers. Will definitely remember to visit when back in Bude.
Great place! Fantastic food, would definitely go back.
This is a new business opened in Bude, but what we really liked about it was the unique and varied range of day time food offered. What we ate was extremely tasty, plentiful and what was to be a midday snack turned out to be a main meal. The lady, front of house was pleasant and ensured we had all we needed. Sitting reading the paper after the meal in nice surroundings was most relaxing. Note that there is no children's menu and I don't think dogs are welcome, but well worth a visit
We popped in on a quiet Monday night. First time we’ve eaten here, and we weren’t disappointed. Jo was brilliant and the food selection was great. Washed down with some good wine and beer. We’ll be back.
Lovely stop for lunch. Friendly staff and dog friendly. Good wholesome tucker.

A warm and friendly welcome, relaxing atmosphere and amazing food. The dishes are made from quality ingredients and prepared with obvious skill and care. The menu is just right - enough variety to give you a dilemma choosing between the tasty options. Plenty of fish and veggie dishes and vegan options too. We stumbled upon the Frog one evening and came back the next day for lunch. My 11 year old son loved the place, too. Great for all. I only wish I lived nearby.
I've eaten twice here in the last few days, and it's a nice place with good food. Only opened a week or so ago. It's pleasant with music playing quietly, so you can still have a conversation.
My comments on the food relate to evenings, they have a different menu at brunch and lunch times. Weekday evenings they do plates to share. The two of us had battered cod pieces (large, which is five pieces), veg spring rolls with dipping sauce (small , which is three pieces), one portion of chips.
The cod pieces were nicely done with a light beer batter, and the spring rolls were tasty. We weren't extremely hungry, and were satisfied with those three dishes. There are plenty more on the menu if you need to fill up. With a couple of beers it came to £32, or around that. It's not the cheapest place, but given the quality of the food and the pleasant relaxed surroundings, I felt it was a good price.
The lady who serves you is the owner, and is very personable.
We returned on Sunday evening, when they do a French evening. For £23 per person this included lovely olives and nibbles, a glass of sparkly kir with fruit liqueur, and a very nice sirloin steak, fries and a good side salad. There are other main dishes available, including a veggie option, at different prices. The table next to us had moules marinieres and said they were very good. Again we enjoyed the meal.
We both recommend it for a civilised evening meal, with good food.
We ate at the Surfin Frog Thursday 15th July 2021. Very laid back and relaxing. Great Menu, basically a tapas bar, but very good food and drinks. Great staff and excellent service. Highly recommended.
Oh.. what i can tell you more than " please just go and have a dinner there!" Super lovely people, dog friendly and amaaaziing food ❤ we are foodies, and honestly we didn't knew what we want to eat but they definitely had a little bit from everything! The pork buns are just ❤❤❤❤
Great food attentive owners/staff. Stumbled across here by accident, and it worked out for the best! We managed to get a table for the following evening & doggy friendly too.
Delicious gin cocktails and even better food. Staff are super lovely and friendly, a perfect lunch spot in Bude. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!
Friendly service, good food. We had 4 tapas type meals between 2 of us, would recommend 5 or 6 next time.
My wife and I came across this bistro at 9:15pm when we were totally let down by the taxi we had booked to take us to another restaurant.
All I have to say is that we were very, very impressed with the food and service.
Many thanks for a very special 15th year anniversary and it made our night.
Thanks Mark and Nikki.
What a find, I was taken there by family who were visiting but they have a holiday home in near Bude, so I am sure we will return. Amazing hospitality, absolutely delicious food, varied menu, I could not recommend this little gem enough!
