It was the 1st time I've been to Bude and someone mentioned there was a live band playing at Preston Gate Inn so decided to check it. You can't imagine the surprise on my face as I walked into a pub full of Pirates, as everyone was dressed up. The music by the band , Captain Beard, had everyone dancing up and down the pub, not to mention around the building at one point. Tried a great selection of ales and rums, including a bottle which was being passed around by the very generous landlord, Paul. Everyone was really friendly, merry and the pub had a really great vibe. Would definitely recommend you check it out if you're in the area. Thank you for a top night out ladies & Gents ! Great pub. Good food, with no set menu, depends on what the chef picks up, but usually pub grub. The beers are excellent with a selection of local breweries beers on tap. Also must mention the staff who are super friendly. Dogs (and kids) are made most welcome.
Only there for 1 night otherwise we would have visited again, great choice of beers, Sunday roast was fantastic great veg etc, however the apple crumble was to die for. Many thanks to the staff for a great evening.

Went tonight for a Sunday roast. Delicious, real roast potatoes which is so rare these days! The beef was tender and cooked perfectly, just pink. A great selection of veg, not the usual pub peas and carrots. Nice selection of desserts served with clotted cream! Drinks are reasonable too, and a good selection of real ales. Staff friendly and welcoming. Would recommend anyone to go there, you don't be disappointed!
A nice choice of Ales and Cider of different strengths. A superb selection of Gin, Rum and Whisky. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Friendly staff and customers. No juke box, pool table etc... A place to have conversation, until the bands starts later at night. Ho me from home for me.
Quaint & cosy country pub with a roaring log fire and a great selection of real ales and ciders. Had a lovely'home cooked' meal with my wife and family, good sized portions at very reasonable prices all topped off with a professional, friendly service.
We will be returning soon . . . .
The Preston Gate is a great pub with good food and lovely staff. The atmosphere is cosy and we absolutely love it!
On holiday again so had to go back to Preston Gate Inn with my 2 dogs. Enjoyed great food and great friendly environment. Staff really friendly. Will go next time we're down there

We had a lovely afternoon meal in here. We all ordered fish and chips and I must say it was one of best I’ve had - crispy at the outside and moist flesh inside. There is kids menu and portions are large. The staff was super polite and kind. It’s better to book in advance as the place crowded for a weekday early afternoon. You need to know there is not much parking space (5-6 spots); apparently there is a parking lot just few mins by foot.
We turned up at 2.30pm on a busy Sunday lunch time . They fitted us in with many smiles and we had the BEST carvery that we've ever had. The staff were so friendly and helpful. If you're near Poughill you just HAVE to visit.

Perfectly cooked and the sause was amazing.
Quite a few sauces to choose from.
With the beer there's 6 cask ales to choose from, plus there own conditioned ale.

Just had the steaks excellent well cooked to our liking. The peppercorn sauce very nice.
Staying at Wooda site and walked down from there only a 8 minute walk well worth it.

Really really nice local friendly pub. Good lively atmosphere, stunning flavoursome food and friendly staff. I had the Chicken Breast with Parmesan and Paprika crumb and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in some months!

Had the Sunday dinner, had the small mixed meat one pork and beef, and it was more than enough food, all cooked to perfection.
The waitress was really helpful about our choices.
The atmosphere was beautiful while we ate. There was an orchestra playing, and the conductor spoke about the music before they played.

We arrived to a very busy pub, in the early evening, requesting a table for two (and a dog) and they managed to squeeze us in. I had the pan seared chicken breast and I have to say, it's one of the nicest chicken meals I have eaten. Great service; lovely staff. Great atmosphere and very dog friendly. Thank you :)

Great atmosphere, warm and friendly welcome. Delicious Sunday Dinner with choice of meat and plate size. Went back on Tues for steak night and excellent live music. Steak was mouthwatering hubby loved it, unfortunately the prawn curry I ordered wasn’t as I expected however I would still recommend a visit.

I was staying around Holsworthy and wanted Fish and Chips and tried the takeaway service here. Fantastic.
The pub was lively, just about space to walk around but that's a good sign.
Parking was limited outside but it wasn't a problem for me. The staff greeted me as if I was a guest eating in and let me know how long food would take. In, out. Perfect.
The fish and chips are great, Haddock over Cod for a change and we really enjoyed it. Two takeaway boxes which flipped upside down when I put them in the car but that didn't make a difference. Peas and tarter sauce included, just like their indoor meal. All tastes great.
I wish this was my local back home.
Delicious meals - as a group of 8 we chose the hake dish, steaks & burgers, all of which were excellent. The desserts were divine, too! First class service, thank you Kirsti - Mum really enjoyed her 80th birthday meal, & she was made to feel very special, thank you so much. Highly recommend this lovely pub, the extended family are already planning on return visits, as are we! 🥰
Managed to squeezed us in after the whole Bude being unavailable. And I am so glad we couldn't get in anywhere else. What great little pub this is. The staff are warm and friendly and the food was delicious.
The Fish and chips were some of the best my partner has ever had, and the Sirloin was cooked to perfection and seasoned really well.

Great place, Beautiful steak, attentive staff a right Cornish boozer. Loved it and should have stayed for the Quiz.. see u in August. Here again and again fantastic Pub had Venison, and it was fantastic. My favorite boxer in Bude.
We booked as a family of four for their Tuesday steak night. Great decision! The rump steak was amazing. Very busy so you do need to book. A friendly and buzzing pub with a nice atmosphere.
Superb meal tonight St the Preston Gate Inn. Lovely atmosphere, attentive and welcoming staff, great food and so well presented. Wine list well priced and varied. Impossible to fault. Seating both indoor and outside. Next time we are in the area we will definitely book again.
