Just got home from our third visit to The Drake manor inn, and yet again it was fantastic! Such a genuine warm welcome from the staff and we quickly for seated into a cosy corner. We ordered three of the the trio of sausages and mash and one mushroom tagliatelle. All dishes were absolutely delicious, the sausages were incredible, and the portion sizes were so generous! We then all had the chocolate cheesecake with the peanut butter ice cream, just wow!! Cannot recommend this place enough. My mum and partner are even going to look into staying one Sunday so they can enjoy the music night too!
So Thankyou for a lovely evening, from 4 very very happy customers. We'll see you again soon!
We visited the pub on Tuesday for their burger night. The food was lovely and I highly recommend it. Great value for money and wonderful staff
Last night we enjoyed the Autumn taster menu. The butternut squash and chilli veloute was delicious and then perfectly cooked scallops with hazelnut and white chocolate sauce followed by a trio of amazing pork and then fig and blackberry tart and cinnamon ice cream- yum yum. Mouthwatering and presented beautifully. Just as good as any 5* restaurant but a fraction of the cost. Couldn't fault it .
Lovely, friendly village pub with delicious home-made food and real ales. The apartment above the pub is so comfortable and stylish - would recommend to anyone.
Had lunch here today. Beautiful food served with a smile. The lamb was gorgeous. One of our party said the gammon was the best he had ever had! Cosy lovely little pub in a very pretty village. Highly recommend
Exceptional service, food and welcome. I booked a table for my birthday, having read excellent reviews about the food, the food was exceptional and exceeded the brilliant reviews, I can highly recommend, but on top of that, the service and the welcome we received was effortlessly friendly, we were left with the feeling that everyone who served us genuinely wanted us to enjoy every minute of our time there. I cannot thank you enough for helping make my birthday a day to remember. We will definitely be visiting again.
Lovely old fashioned village pub, wonderful food and lovely staff. Recommended.
5 of us popped in for lunch after visiting Buckland Abbey today and it was lovely. My Mum and I had a crab baguette, which came with salad and crisps and it was really tasty. My husband had the gammon, eggs and chips and he said it was really great. Thick bits of tender gammon and eggs cooked to perfection. My Dad had the steak and ale pie and I had major food envy! Loads of steak in a rich gravy and 'the best chips ever!' My mother-in-law had the fish and chips which was fair size too! The fish better was really light and not at all greasy. Well done for pleasing all of the people all of the time today. Will definitely be returning
Lovely Sunday roast with the family. Two of us are gluten free, but this was no issue at all. All very tasty
Beautiful setting & great food! Our waiter was fab & even though it was really busy and we could only have our table for 45 minutes we still had a lovely evening and look forward to going back.
Warm friendly welcome, good choice of real ales and hearty good quality pub grub.
Three of us had the gammon ham eggs chips and peas. Lovely tender succulent gammon and deep orange egg yokes- left a few of the chips though only because of the generous portions.
We’d go out of our way to re visit.
Visited the charming Drake Manor at lunchtime today. Such very tasty Parsnip & Cumin soup and warm crusty roll, looking forward to visiting again on the 21st December for the Mummers play and Morris Dancing from Lodestone Border.. I will not hesitate in returning again. Such friendly staff in such a quaint, hospitable village pub

We really love visiting The Drake all year round. A traditional cosy pub with an open fire for colder days and a nice garden for summer days. Good selection of drinks on offer and the food is delicious. The staff are always very welcoming, as are the locals. And our springer is always greeted with lots of love and cuddles, which makes it even more of a gem. Highly recommend after a good stomp on the moor.
Haven't been here for a good few years. Was good back then and every bit as good now. The menu is hearty wholesome food with a great choice and not pretentious in any way. Service was excellent and food arrived promptly & hot. Decided to share a dessert (just as well as it was enormous). 10 out of 10 Drake Manor! Will definitely be back.
Beautiful little village, beautiful little Inn. We had our Sunday Roast here and it was amazing. Service was very friendly and the place itself was like stepping back in time. I gave 4 stars as my only complaint was there was too much pepper used in some of the veg but the roast potatoes were amazing, crunchy on the outside soft in the middle 😋 Will definitely return 😃
Excellent traditional village pub you wish it was your local , friendly staff ,Super Sunday roast beef and the chicken. Tasty meat & gravy, proper roast potatoes with parsnip, carrot, cabbage, swede mash, French green beans , Yorkshire pud a good plate full.

Excellent food, with wonderful staff. It's a pleasure to visit and definitely one of our favourite places when holidaying nearby 🤗
The food was amazing, the steak I had was perfect and chips are to die for my partner has the chicken dish which was also cooked to perfection, will definitely be going back there, would highly recommend this hidden gem...
What a fabulous village pub. Unspoilt by property developers and DFL's. Great beer and food and full of local people.
