We moved to the area in July 2017 and started visiting the Doghouse almost immediately, taking our (then) 4 month old baby with us. He’s now 13 months and the staff are as wonderful and engaging with him (and us) as they were then - making time to chat and play (pretty sure he’s a little bit in love with Emily and Jade in particular). The stairs at the entrance may not be ideal, but we’ve felt they are worth the slight inconvenience. The refurbishments have come on a great deal - we can’t wait to see the finished look.
Being a (slightly stereotypical) northern last, on our first visit I asked for a Newcastle Brown Ale (which like most Southern pubs, they didn’t stock), but like a good local they offered to order it in - sure enough it was there the next week and has been pretty much every week since.
We regularly end up ordering food (even when we’ve just nipped in for a quick drink) - whilst there is usually a bit of a wait, we’ve always found it to be worth it (my personal fave is the steak and ale shortcrust pie).
Like most pubs, the experience you have is significantly impacted by the time/day you visit. We enjoy the relative hubbub of a friday/saturday evening- enough noise to have a private conversation, but not too much to force you to shout at each other the whole night. The locals are lovely and will have a bit of banter with us (and don’t cast judgmental looks our way if we’re still in with the baby past 9pm). We particularly enjoy it when the landlord’s in and has control of the play list.
It may not be everybody’s cup of tea whilst the renovations are taking place, but we’ve enjoyed getting to know the staff and love that we’re getting to see the changes first hand. We’re proud to support our local and look forward to seeing it develop.

Been coming here for years every time staff and food excellent. I always feel like your visiting family that just happens to have a bar in their dining room lol. Always happy staff with good banter.
We often pop to The Doghouse for a quick drink but have also frequently eaten there and it has always been amazing!!! Yesterday we arrived as a party of 8 having not booked and we were so well looked after! Food is brilliant and staff always so friendly and courteous ��

Was treated to a father's day Sunday roast from my girls and wife, food and service was absolutely spot on, will definitely be coming back
Great pub, good food and would highly recommend.
We had a lovely meal on Saturday evening, I had the prawn compo and my husband had fish cakes to start, both delicious, we then both had the beef and ale pie, delicious but a very large pie, I shouldn't have had the starter!! The service was good as always. Thank-you.
We want to thank all the staff for making our Sunday dinner experience so much easier for us. Our mum has dementia, being so young most people don’t assume she is ill with it, and people can often find her behaviour offensive and it can be difficult to even go out for dinner. However the staff today helped make our experience so easy and they couldn’t do enough. We want to give a special mention to Jack, his kindness and friendly nature with our mum gave us so much support and enabled us to enjoy a meal out all together.

We booked a table for the first time here for six adults, two kids and a high chair, on a busy bank holiday Sunday. After a quick change around of the tables by the helpful staff, we sat down and had drinks. We did wait a good while for our food, as it was very busy, but it was well worth the wait. Piping hot roast dinners, lots of meat, lots of gravy with each meal, plenty of veg, and the huge table share Yorkshire puddings were fab too. The food was great, the service was great, the staff were very helpful and extremely friendly. Kids area is secure, with enough to occupy them for a while. Would definately recommend for a family meal, and we will be visiting again
Food was good, good sized portions! Very good value for money. Service was decent, we sent back a dish as it wasn't right and the new dish was delivered within minutes. Can't fault!
A great local pub, always found the staff friendly and attentive, the Sunday roasts are great! Highly recommend kids love the play area and in good location from the out door seating, out door bar is a nice touch as well

Lovely local pub to us, living on the development. The staff are ALWAYS friendly and we always feel welcome, lovely roast dinner nice and hot and lots of it. It’s always nice to support local businesses. It’s so nice to having a local pub within walking distance 😊
Such a lovely pub had such a lovely time, Waitress Grace was amazing serving our table so happy with a big smile - that always goes a long way.
Great when the outdoor bar is open, quite a small indoor bar so have always had a little wait for drinks, but worth it nice beer garden nice pint
Well wow wow wow. Me, my partner and daughter had a lovely roast dinner here and it has to be one of the best roast dinners I've had.

If you like to eat out with your dog (and I do) then this is great place to visit.
Food was freshly cooked and vegetarian options were available.

Attended an event yesterday. The staff were out of this world and do was the food. Nothing was too much trouble. Definitely worth a visit.
A 20 minute walk from us, has Camden on tap, very friendly staff, food is great. it has a great little cafe downstairs which you can get an amazing cooked breakfast at. .... And it's all dog friendly.
Great beer garden and the food was brill! All freshly made it seemed!

Jack and Alex were fabulous, extremely kind and definitely will be coming back again.
Always lovely food and good price. Parking can sometimes be a bit tight.
We booked last minute on Sunday, we were easily catered for. The atmosphere was wonderful, adequate social distancing and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was excellent! Very tasty, perfect temperature and fresh! I have never truly tried belly of pork before and it was delicious! Chorizo was a refreshing touch. Would recommend the Sunday lunch however their normal evening menu is also gorgeous!

Very friendly local pub, great homey atmosphere and plenty of space! Dog friendly too which is great for walkers, a nice short walk over the fields from Bierton or Coppice estate, and great halfway/ending point for a longer walk!
