My favourite pub in the world 🙂
All of the staff and management team are so welcoming and friendly, the pub itself is absolutely beautiful and so well kept. The food and speed of service is always fantastic. We always enjoy our visits to The Ferry, especially with their beautiful beer garden in the Summer. My girls also love the children’s events they run often. And the charity work for Martin House Childrens Hospice is absolutely brilliant. Keep up the good work Sarah and Team Ferry, can’t wait to see you again soon! X
Shane's Autism & ADHD Journey

I booked to come in here after a day of walking in the area.
Not knowing the area well and being autistic, I was nervous, so I called up to book and ask questions. My mind was immediately put to rest, Rob and the lady (Sorry can't remember your name) were so kind, patient and understanding. They immediately knew where to put me after me explaining my needs. I booked in for 2pm on a Tuesday, explaining I might be a bit early or late depending on walking speed and conditions.
Upon arriving early at 1:30pm, I was greeted by Rob, who got me seated in the 'library', a space off to the side, where there's just the one table. He explained how to order and about the food. I ordered cod and chips.
The food came quite (but not too) quickly and was fresh. The portion size was generous. The peas weren't overcooked like they are in a lot of places. Chips came a bit lightly done for my liking but I'm sure if I ask them next time, they'll make them crisper.
Accessibility: The entrance is level, but the door is heavy due to the buildings age. Some wheelchair users might need to phone the bar and get staff help to open it. The inside itself is indeed wheelchair accessible. I forgot to check on toilets.
As stated above, awareness of hidden disabilities seems great and the staff I dealt with were very patient and clear when speaking with me.
What a great local pub!!!!!
From the moment we walked into the ferry we were greeted by such friendly staff and locals.
From the ambience of the dark decor and the subtle lighting we knew this pub would be a firm favourite. Little nooks of seating are placed all around depending if you’d like somewhere quiet or in the hustle and bustle. A pool table for later on too…..what a bonus.
The staff were attentive and helped us with ordering our meals as of course I was wanting more than just one thing as usual. The menu was vast with plenty of choice of everyone and any dietary requirements you may have. It didn’t disappoint either the food was top notch.
The pub is super clean, super friendly and we will be back.
Thank you team Ferry ⛴️
Lovely food, polite service, and the atmosphere was nice. It was quiet when I visited, but this was still nice. Staff were polite and generally don't have anything to complain about.
Great local pub with beer Garden and pool room, really has the community at its core. Daytime kids parties, summer BBQs, mid week companionship teas for the elderly and loads more events always happening! The menu is a standard Marston's menu so you'll find something you like, but this pub doesn't feel like every other Marston's and that's what makes it great! Pulls a good pint of Guinness which means the lines are well looked after. If something's on at Ferry it's always worth a trip!
We didn't eat, but the menu looked varied enough for most tastes. The ale was great, the staff were jovial and friendly. Definitely recommended. Don't drink in Brough often but will be back next time.
The ferry Inn is a big old traditional village pub. There's a good-sized car park and outdoor seating. There is a wide range of beers, lagers, and cider, including three hand pulled cask, conditioned real ales that were in excellent condition when we called in. It's a nice cosy pub. The staff are friendly and the food is as good as any Marston's pub.
We came for steak night and both greatly enjoyed a rump steak each . I would definitely recommend a visit
Lively pub, a bit noisy for me, but service and food were great.
Food is amazing and staff are very efficient. Bar (now called the Plough Inn, Hayton) and the restaurant are separate. Take away food is available.
