Friends and I visited the pub whilst at a nearby music festival and were well impressed with everything on offer. The setting next to the canal was lovely and a great place to have excellent food from the extensive menu. The hand pulled ales were also excellent. Finally, a word of praise for friendly staff.

Lovely canal side pub. Very clean and tidy. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Dogs allowed. Children allowed. Plenty of space. There is very little parking. They do serve food. Which is amazing, good quality at a fair price. But there is not too much choice, especially for vegetarian or vegan. The Guinness was exceptional! I would definitely come back here.

Finally got here on the canal from Stoke Pound after 6 locks and moored up on the visitors moorings. Went for a bit of a walk along the towpath and happened to speak to a local chap who lives on the offside in a very pretty canalside house. He highly recommended the Boat and Railway pub restaurant and said that Matt and Carrie were absolutely amazing publicans and that the food was superb! Went back to our narrowboat and got my other half to amble over for a deserved drink and a spot of lunch too...it was coming on for lunchtime. We walked in and it's a real gem of a pub, traditional pub in keeping decor, inviting, homely and Matt immediately made us feel welcomed and part of the pub family. Social distancing was maintained, masks required and we decided to sit outside on the canalside open terrace. It is a gorgeous pub with a great atmosphere as proper pubs should be like! The outside of the pub is a really great looking building and it is very spacious inside too with various eating areas and a bigger restaurant/function room further inside this attractive pub. The toilets were spotlessly clean and freshly decorated too. What a wonderful pub and what a great place and so different from the one at Stoke Pound which I won't mention as not worthy in comparison to this fantastic real, proper pub! I had a couple of pints of the Old Empire ale and a Wainwrights ale later on in the afternoon...all so well kept, perfectly chilled and so good. My other half had the Old Mout Pineapple cider which was great too. For lunch we had a round of the Pull Pork & Chilli sandwich on brown which was very tasty and fresh whilst I had the Bantry Bay Mussels which were so deliciously yummy. Thank you Carrie "le chef"...10/10 score and amazing delicious food!! What a treat and gem of a pub and definitely recommend the Boat and Railway highly ๐Ÿ‘ Certainly will be telling all of the canal boaters about this pub. Finally, a big shout out and huge thanks to Matt, Carrie, Emily, Sarah and the staff....we had such a lovely and great lunch experience and you are all absolute stars ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘. We will definitely be back again before we chug off on the canal on our way to Worcester...

After a nice long walk, called in, we went there about 4 weeks ago on a nice day and sat outside so did the same today, but had a meal there this time ,good value. Enjoyed it.i had a starter for mains just enough. pork ribs could have had a bit more pork on them, and not so overcooked, but I'm not fussy. Just a note. But I've just noticed on your webb page, you do mussels can't say I saw this on the menu. I will be back. Lovely place and manager spot on.

Great canal side pub with good food, burgers are mega and it still has a proper British pub atmosphere which is hard to find now.

I hire the function room upstairs on a weekly basis. Carrie and Matt are hands down the kindest, most accommodating people I have EVER met and would do anything to help you. Food is insane and the drinks are top notch too!!!! I'd recommend anyone to come here and enjoy the canalside with a pint or a spot of lunch

A really welcoming place for families or even just to pop down after work. The food is extremely well priced and tastes delicious! (I recommend the rib eye) The locals are friendly and all of the staff are super helpful. They let you feed the ducks too, which when you have kids is everything. Got a dog? No problems either! The pub itself has lots of history and is maintained to a great standard by the landlady. I'm glad I found this little gem and I'll definitely be going back.

We had a long walk along the towpath, stopped off for lunch, the staff were excellent, food great, drinks really good. Service was quick. We will return and sit out next to the canal and enjoy another afternoon boat watching, eating and drinking.
