Nice cosy place next to the Christmas Tree Farm. The food was okay and the place is suitable for babies and kids.

Bar is very welcoming and ‘cosy’. Food is excellent, famous for their unique homemade pies. I had the Game pie, very filling and had a full tasty experience. Chicken and leek was much ‘lighter’, again an excellent choice. Service is very good and professional. Good selection of beers. Certainly worth visiting. Darwin’s birthplace. Parking can be tricky at times. Best book in advance. Highly recommended.

I have been going to this pub for years when in the area. The Sunday lunch is an absolute steal with buffet style accompaniments all homemade and really good quality.

A cosy oldé pub in a pretty nook of Kent. We originally tried the pub over the road but the wait for food was over an hour. The staff here could not have been more friendly or helpful to accommodate our family of 4. The food was excellent, in particular the proper pies (no pastry lid fakes here!). My pint of Sussex was superb, although it would have been nice to have a few more local ale options to choose from. Delightful.

Popped here her today, pub was great and food portions were really good. We had young children and good selection on the menu for them plus a great play area in the garden when dinner was finished. All reasonably priced and landlord was so accommodating. Will definitely be back again!

Best pie with steak I ever had, lovely historical pub where Darwin used "to have a few" between one journey and the other, amazing outdoor space with bouncy castle. perfect for daddie who want to enjoy a pint while there kids play. Love the orango on the rooftop (I guess it has something to do with Darwin... :-)

Great tapas evening tonight at the George & Dragon pub in Downe - at least twenty dishes to choose from - all freshly cooked and came out piping hot to our party of six. Included chilli prawns, patatas bravas, ham croquettes, stuffed peppers, meatballs, two types of squid - all delicious. Excellent service- can’t wait till these special evenings start again after Christmas.

So pleased we came into the George & Dragon. The food, beer and service have been fantastic. The steak and ale pie was brilliant, and the perfect place for a Sunday lunch. It’s a lovely pub in West Kent, Downe.
