As soon as we arrived ,lee was there to greet us and showed us to a charming room with ambient music. We started with some bubbly and a perfect array of mixed sandwiches and petit fours. Followed by a lovely pot of tea and scones with strawberries. The house and grounds was lovely and Lee made it so special for us. We would recommend the afternoon tea most highly. Top marks to Lee.
Brilliant place to stay if visiting the area. Couldn't fault anything and felt so privileged to be staying at Bleak House! Lee and Jeff couldn't do enough for us. Cooked breakfast fantastic....especially the poached eggs! Would thoroughly recommend!
Great stay made very welcome room was absolutely loverly, in the bar was greeted with a great open fire 🔥,
Breakfast was of a exerlent standard, would highly recommend anyone to stay at Bleak House
We had an outstanding stay at Bleak House over Christmas, we stayed in the Copperfield room which has a balcony overlooking Viking Bay. Jeff the porter made it a particularly enjoyable stay. Would not hesitate to recommend Bleak House !
It was my birthday yesterday, and Lee greeted me with a slice of carrot cake and a candle, kept cracking jokes and keeping the vibe in spirits lovely tea too!
I used to visit bleak house all the time as a child and was very excited to realise they now do accommodation. Truly an amazing venue not just a hotel/B&B but very much an experience. Loved it so much we stayed an extra night. Staff are lovely and really fit in with the house. Big mention to Jeff our personal night porter who's there for anything you need, and any questions you may have about the house. Also best cooked breakfast! it was also lovely to see the chef and listen to a few of his stories about the house. We will defiantly be returning x
An enchanting experience- the staff were all lovely and very helpful - made it feel like a home away from home and not a hotel - the history is preserved in all the details - a true one of a kind getaway- The breakfast selection was very good and as a vegetarian I appreciated the veggie full English breakfast- I can't wait to return !

Lovely place!great location and friendly staff.Stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment with the children, lovely sea views from all the rooms.Delicious breakfast, clean rooms and beautiful garden -ideal for an afternoon tea.
Cute museum, nicely put together by the owner .
I look forward to coming back for a longer stay. We truly enjoyed everything!
Thank you for your hospitality .
Amazing bed, views of the sea and biggest bath I've ever seen
I loved my stay there. The location of the house is perfect I loved the sea views from the bedroom the staff was very attentive. If I have any complaints is for the price I expected more luxury toilet paper was mo tesco value I am not a snob but if you pay £250 pounds at night you expect bit more.
Don't know what to make of it!. At the outset I must say the Sparkling Cream tea was very good value. It came as part of a package we purchased which included a tour of Charles Dickens former residence. The tour was surreal. somewhat of a cross between Madame Tussauds and Faulty Towers, but in an old fashioned English seaside way querky and amusing. I wouldn't recommend it as a destination stop or a reason to visit Broadstairs but overall a pleasant experience in a run-down sort of way, The staff are very cheerful and happy to be of service.
Good place for afternoon tea. Visited there for the Dickens factor but never really stayed there. The museum is small but nice. The Smuggling Museum is interesting. It's in a wonderful location with great views of the Viking Bay. The staff were very friendly and the afternoon tea was delicious.
Good side: Very beautiful historical property, magnificent views on Broadstairs, Copperfield suite is amazing, nice breakfast (although with instant coffee )
Bad: Staff is not 100% professional and they seem to be working individually rather than in a team. Because of 2 of our group were sick I asked for a late check out (till 1pm) and was agreed with one of the waitress after she had checked that the room was't booked on the day. When I returned to the room, I was basically shouted at by one other member of the staff as if I was intruding the property only because he wasn't informed of the late check-in. As an extra bitter note, we were told that we had to pay an extra for the extra beds only once leaving - comprehensible for the fee but shouldn't this have been stated before or at least when I paid the supposed full amount at the check in? I tried to have yoga in the morning but the same staff member was sleeping on a couch in the yoga room.
All things considered, I've enjoyed the stay because of the property charm but I think Bleak House staff should try to improve from quirky to attentive, as the hotel has a lot of potential.
