On our day out in Broadstairs my wife was desperate for afternoon tea so we were happy to stumble upon The Old Bakehouse which offers an interesting take on the normal version. Customers can choose a sandwich and cake of their liking from the main menu plus a fruit scone and tea. This means you are not lumbered with a load of food you don't like (cucumber sandwiches!!!) or just cannot eat given the sheer quantity of stuff! Sandwiches were of good quality and cakes were decently proportioned. Scones (served with cream and jam...or was it jam and cream?? ;)) and tea was good and thirst quenching. Benches outside could do with a bit of a clean but thankfully the local pigeon behaved himself for the duration of the stay! Good quick and attentive service and all plates were cleared. Not expensive too!
Great experience. The manager was everywhere checking how clients were and if their orders were ok. The staff were charming including one who was on her first day. Portions were generous and prices were very competative. The manager chatted with us and said she only owned the business since April 23. In our view she'd got everything right. First class tea house.
Came across this place today on a day trip to broadstairs and so glad we found it, staff extremely friendly and service was spot on. Both of us had a ploughman’s and couldn’t fault them one bit. Highly recommend a visit

A hidden gem in Broadstairs. The best breakfast in town. Very kind and helpful staff and a very wide range in bread and sweets. We enjoyed the jam croissant, eggs on toast and full breakfast. The caramel shortbread is scrumptious, I wish I bought more!

A wonderful bakery / tea room. Had the ham ploughman's lunch and was excellent and didn't scrimp on the ham. The staff are kind, courteous & helpful. A real gem in the crown of Broadstairs. Can't recommend enough.
Used The New Old Bakehouse to provide a cover of 40 for a wake !! Delivered promptly and presented beautifully - Not a scrap left - that’s got to be a complement !! Thank you - excellent and will recommend to all !! Harry and Kay in Monkton
Superb Bakery, the high street smells delicious of baking 🍞 we had a perfect breakfast with pot of tea 🍵 😋 the staff are super efficient, friendly and 😊 happy. Definite 👍 highly recommend.
Such good value for the food you get - Under a tenner for a full cream tea! Well worth it, really really lovely staff and ambience inside and can sit in the little flower garden if it’s sunny enough. Would recommend to everyone passing through! 5/5 (wish I had photos of the food but it didn’t last long enough🐷)
The first thing to do when arriving in England is to get yourself a cream tea...and the best place to do that in Broadstairs is at The Bakehouse. I don’t think I’ve ever had such an awesome scone! Plus I don’t even like jam but their seedless raspberry is out of this world. It’s tiny inside the shop but super cute and the staff is pleasant and friendly. I’d go back there for tea any day!

Ordered for the 1st time, the afternoon tea for my parents to be delivered, it arrived exactly on time and was beautifully presented, my parents assured me the whole order was absolutely delicious, they didn't manage to eat it all at lunch, so had the remaining items for tea later in the evening, will definitely order from here again without a doubt 💯% satisfied
We only stopped in to purchase a baguette, not once but twice. The ladies were so friendly and helpful and the baguette was good.
The food is delightful and the customer service is also very nice as all staff are friendly and polite
