Great stop over for a trip to Cornwall. The room was clean and comfortable, It was very quiet too. We had a meal in the pub (liver and bacon and fish and chips) great food and value for money.
Traditional Sunday lunch was really good. A nice portion of meat and roasties with a Yorkshire pudding and a great selection of veg on the side. The puddings were very generous. Booking is a must or you may be disappointed, as we witnessed. The staff were busy but very attentive.
Didn’t stay here so can’t comment but I’m sure it’s lovely. The steak I had tonight though!! That was one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten! So yummy! Thank you guys so much for a lovely evening. Will probably see you post dog walk of an evening soon!
Had an excellent Subday lunch with friends. Great fresh food, generous portions served piping hot by attentive staff. Highly recommend and will definitely return!
Lovely stop over en route to Cornwall. Historic and picturesque. Comfortable room and wonderfully looked after by Mandy & Millie in the bar at dinner and by Alison (?) who served us as good a breakfast as I’ve had. A happy welcoming venue that provided great value and quality.
Never stays, had a couple if drinks and dinner.
Couple of real ales, Tribute being one when we visited.
Do many small meals at around £9 to £10 which is an excellent idea, especially if you want a starter or dessert also.
Very friendly staff, chatted about the beer and cream teas.
Good value, never felt over expensive.
Outside seating to front of pub and what looked like a garden across the way.
Parking for several cars.
Worth a visit
Me and my wife have been here multiple times and every time the meals, service and drinks have been spot on. Nice location and has a good vibe to it. Would recommend anyone to stop off for grub here.
Late review as I actually stayed a couple of nights in April. This was a business trip so I stayed alone. I remember the amazing porridge for breakfast very well! I asked for a banana to go in it and the lady offered to chop it up for me. Note in the room said the tea and coffee tray could be replenished, so I (kind of) jokingly asked if that included the homemade shortbread… they immediately gave me more! The room was perfect, service was fantastic. Only thing I could really diss is location as I ran on country lanes in the evening but that’s really not the end of the world! I really enjoyed my stay.
A beautiful, dog friendly 16th century pub situated on the outskirts of Exeter. We had one of the best Sunday dinners there in ages! 🥳

Roast dinner was fantastic, couldn't fault the food. Service was a bit lacking unfortunately but normally they are very good. It was very busy so understandable to a degree. Will definitely come back
This is a lovely pub in the picturesque village of Broadclyst. The food menu is very good, and caters for gluten free customers. There's also a good selection of proper beers, all served with a smile from the very friendly team.
Great place to meet up with friends and family for food and drinks. Beer is well kept. Went for a birthday celebration recently. Helpful friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Reasonable pricing. Love it.
Went back a few months later on a weekly basis for a beer and meeting with friends. Lovely atmosphere. Great beer. Love it😁👍
Nice location next to the church quite busy at times, the food and staff are very good quality. Shame the Guinness is not draught its in cans with vibrating plate to activate. That said its a reasonable choice to select from.
Very friendly helpful staff.
Good menu choices and quick service.
Been staying in hotels, pubs and b&b's for over 10 years with work and this is the best pub I've ever stayed in. Very warm welcome, beautifully refurbished rooms with original features complimenting all the modern attributes you want in a hotel, comfortable bed with good pillows, the en suite was amazing, all very clean. The food was fantastic as well, the nicest beef burger I've ever tasted with a good portion of chips and salad. Wide selection of local beers and cider. Breakfast was included in the rate too which was well equipped and simply delicious. The wooden beams on the ceiling against the open fireplace and single pane style windows is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy your time here. Credit to all the team here who make this quiet little village pub as nice as it is!
I loved everything about this pub.
Had my first beer in one year there, was it delicious 😋.
The food portions were generous and tasted awesome. The service was amazing, and it helps that I was there with my dear godmother. I'll definitely be back
Excellent food. Very friendly staff and great location in the countryside.
Saddened to say that after frequenting The Red Lion for the last 20 years we will no longer be paying this pub a visit. Having supported them with their price increases post pandemic the enforced service charge is a step to far. Enough is enough.
Just had lunch this saturday was met with friendly staff in this charming old english pub full of charm had 3 courses lunch menu all presented beauitfully and very tasty nor your standard pub grub well done cheff and all staff thank you will be returning in future oh clean toilets as well!
