This place is a hidden treasure for London foodies. Run by former Nobu chef, the quality and flavour of sushi in comparable to a high-end restaurant. Yet, it's affordable and informal. Noriko she is a friendly lady who spent time demonstrating the art of sushi making while we were sipping some fantastic sake at the small counter. I would highly recommend Sakeya for anyone interested in authentic as well as modern Japanese food.
Discovered after my visit that the chef used to work at Nobu! Explains why the food was exquisite but also a bit on the expensive side. Loved having the food made in front me. If you like your food made with love and dedication go visit Sakeya.
By far the best sushi we have had and amazing to watch it being made so beautifully right in front of you. The sake prosecco is well worth trying. We chatted to Nori the chef and she is lovely too.
This place is beyond exquisite. We’ve been coming here since we moved to Brixton 6 months ago and food has been constantly excellent from the first time we tried their chicken katsu curry. Our 3 year old( who is crazy picky eater) just adooooores their food. And the lovely lady that owns the place always cuts up chicken into smaller pieces for him cause that’s how he likes it. This place deserves all the stars and than some more.
I had been meaning to visit this place for quite a while and eventually made it down tonight. Great sushi and definitely worth the visit, also lovely hosts and great presentation of food. Can’t wait to return to try more items from the menu, thank you to the team
I had the 'Brixton Special' - sea bass ceviche - and it was beautiful! Fresh and delicate, with a spicy Carribean twist to the sauce. Also sea weed salad and edamame beans were cleansing and subtle, and salmon sashimi and salmon sushi (which was seared with a heatgun) both melted in the mouth like butter. All washed down with a delicious hot glass of sake. Highly recommended!
A tiny, standing sushi bar in Pop Brixton, Sakeya is a fantastic place to try freshly prepared dishes like dragon rolls (£12), smoked salmon salad (£4) and ceviche (£4). Prepared in front of you in the small but perfectly formed kitchen, it's a fantastic sight to behold.
Noriko has an amazing pop-out sushi bar serving some of London's most authentic Japanese Sushi. Try the warm sake in these cold winter months too!
Everything was ok.... except that the maki are a bit too salty
compared to other delicious sushi. Pls add option not to put too much of spicy sauce or make it less salty
I've often buy my meals from there, friendly staff, very fresh tasting! Keep up the good work! And o'h don't forget I'm coming all the way from Hackney 😁❤
Had the salmon teriyaki bowl which was very tasty and perfectly cooked, the technique of cooking is fascinating to watch.
The whole experience was amazing. Food was delicious and service was excellent. My 1st experience with some of the food I tried.
Amazing food from formal Nobu sushi chef Noriko! Salmon nigiri was so so good!
Wonderful dragon sushi, very friendly staff. Also recommend the warm Sake.
Great sushi with personalised service. Always something new on the menu.
Quite expensive but worth it.
Always very fresh and beautifully made.
Love the vegan poke bowl.
