Wow!
What perfectly cooked fish. I took my other half in here for her birthday.
The owner Simone took my booking weeks ago without realising that I had booked for a night she was shut. Instead of just being closed and spoiling our day, she opened especially. This tells you that she cares about her customers. She came out and had a chat, we even ended upin her kitchen! (which is immaculate)
The whole place is a professionally run business and we will return.
Thanks Simone.
Had a pleasant, well prepared meal last night. Started with the mussels, which were very succulent in a good sauce. For a main, I had the monkfish. It was prepared perfectly and was probably the largest portion of monk fish I have ever had, very good. The only negative was the timing of the service. The servers were pleasant but 30 minutes between ordering and our starters (and our nibbles, which you would think we would have to "nibble" on waiting for the starters). Another 30 minutes between the starters and the mains. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was less than half full, so they were not exactly slammed. The food was, again, quite good and with better efficiency would have been a perfect evening.
Had a lovely meal at this elegant restaurant overlooking the harbor. They do such a lovely job with cooking seafood here, it's a great chance to spoil yourself and go for the nicer fish you don't normally have at home. The scallop starter with smoked bacon was divine, and my seabass with kaffir lime, chili, and garlic butter was perfectly cooked and delicate. They served a wide variety of sides to the table - buttery dauphinoise potatoes, new potatoes, chips, and mixed veg, so we all had more than enough to go around!
Highly recommended for a special occasion, it definitely has a bit of an upscale feel about it, and is rather quiet and formal inside.
+ Very fresh, local seafood
+ Great sharing dishes
+ Warm ambiance
+ Friendly staff
I came here on a Bank Holiday Monday evening for dinner and found not only the restaurant but also the town of Brixham very quiet because of the non-stop rain all day. Nevertheless, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the waiting staff and we were warmly welcomed.
One of the best thing about the menu is the hot seafood platter for two, available for either starter and/or main. The sharing starter of scallops, mussels and crevettes - all cooked to perfection - came in the most delicious garlic, herb cream sauce that my friend who wasn't that fond of seafood previously couldn't stop eating until every piece of seafood was gone.
The main fish platter consists of local catches of the day, and on the day we went this include (yet more) scallops, a piece of skate, a whole lemon sole and a whole plaice. Just two whole fish alone on the menu would have cost more than £40, so sharing the dish at £35 felt like a steal. The only small downside was that our plaice and lemon sole were slightly overcooked so the fish was a bit chewy, but still edible.
One of us also had the monkfish with parma ham, clams and samphire for main, but because there was no monkfish that evening it was replaced with turbot without additional charges. The turbot was perfectly cooked - tender and succulent.
Beamer is a bit on the pricey side but the excellent customer service, fantastically fresh, local seafood as well as quayside view by the big window are well worth a visit.
Lovely restaurant overlooking the harbour.
Visited restaurant last year and this year was just as good.
Presentation of food excellent. Steak was amazing- husband had trio of fish and thought these were slightly overcooked.
Staff friendly and attentive .
Would recommend if visiting Brixham.
What a great surprise that Tim and his wife Sam are back again!!
Had king prawns and croquette for starters which were both cooked to perfection. For mains had lobsters which again cooked perfectly and accompanied by fabulous salad and local vegetables. By far the best lobster we have tasted in a long time.
Great to see Tim back.
We had a very nice anniversary dinner at the restaurant last night. The whole evening was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the service was first class, and great value for money. Highly recommended.
Delicious - all cooked freshly to order, lovely specials on offer. Very comfortable quayside table and pleasant, friendly service. We returned on NY day and enjoyed a second dinner. See pics.
We have rarely visited such a warm and friendly restaurant with such excellent food. Great welcome. Table with a view of the harbour. Very reasonable wine list. Fun cocktails . To the owners and staff - thank you!
Fantastic! We had a lovely dinner with 2 adult and 2 children at Beamers. Childrens' chicken nuggets were freshly made and not from the freezer. Served with Chips these were really yummy! Adults Seafood was amazing and served with a good serving of sides. I would recommend to book a table in advance, one of the booth overlooking the habour!
By far the best meal we had in Brixham!
Great service, perfect food, good social distancing and tempurature checks at the door.
The quality of the food was so high, you'd expect to pay twice the price for it. ~£120 for 4 people, 3 course meal, but the quality was that of a gourmet restaurant you'd pay much more for.
Quick service and our waiter was very friendly. Vegan & vegetarian options. We had a set menu but called in advance to have a steak instead of fish (as there was no meat dish on the menu, and one of our party does not eat fish) - no problem at all.
I can't reccomend this place enough. We will definitely be visiting again when back in Brixham!
Absolutely brilliant! We had a very warm welcoming and cosy atmosphere to enjoy, overlooking the harbour from our seats! Had some delightful Olives & Bits as our starter / nibbles...a Shellfish Platter to share as our main (extremely tasty & finger messy too lol) and a couple of very delicious puddings including the Lemon Roulade and Blood Orange Sorbet, both stunning tastes!!! A lovely bottle of Shiraz and Coffees on top of all that!!! Have 0 fault here and I'd highly recommend to anyone!!! We will return one day in the future as we're here for a mini pre Christmas break! 🌲Thank you so so much for a yummy meal and fantastic experience / service!!!! 😋
Under new, ( old ) management,
This was always good under the previous owners, it is still excellent now under the new ownership,
I had the whole Dover sole, which was accompanied by a selection of different vegetables.
The chef can certainly cook fish.
10/10
Great environment,
Will definitely return, highly recommended.
Literally just walked in the door at home after a meal in Beamers since Tim and Sam took over.
Omg my wife and I have just had an amazing meal. Soooo much food high quality or what. Brilliant staff and great atmosphere. Really do not walk past this resteraunt locals or tourists. Book now!!!
Had dinner while on holiday in Brixham and we enjoyed it so much we booked for the following evening too.
Food and service on both occasions was fabulous - the place just has a really nice relaxed atmosphere.
Did I like this place? NO, I loved it! Did we eat every single morsel on our plate? NO we ate our plates too. It was a gastronomic treat! Thoroughly enjoyed by all four of us. My friend Charles particularly enjoyed his Dover sole, and Fenton adore his prawns which felt so fresh and both had been caught that morning. What a great restaurant with very friendly unpretentious not gushy service. We loved it.
We ate very early on a Thursday evening in March. The atmosphere was therefore lacking any buzz but we cannot fault the food and service. Whole lemon sole and my three fillets of fish were cooked perfectly. I even ate the skin which I rarely do. The raisin soda bread given as an entree was delicious. Hubby enjoyed his Chocolate Jaffa mountain for pudding. Go and try eating there!
A great little find hidden away in Brixham. Lovely fresh fish, friendly staff and nice decor. Would definitely recommend and come again.
Wonderful hidden gem in the harbour. The food is fantastic and so is the staff. They don't take tip by card so please come prepared with cash as you'll definitely want to tip.
