We had an enjoyable dinner for my son's birthday. Food was delicious, service 5* . Special thanks to Tess for the dynamic and non.exhaustive energetic service , yet always served us with smiles. Also we were touched by the gesture - a birthday cake piece! Thanks to all team in Kibou!
We had a lovely dinner last year. Food and drinks were amazing. So delicious. This year we visited the place for few cocktails and the place, service and staff are still fantastic. The whole place and experience is incredible. Highly recommended!!!
Great atmosphere, fantastic food, beautiful service. We'd preferred some more traditional music but I understand this might be a bit old fashioned of me.
We celebrated our ten year anniversary here and we felt great. The restaurant has such a vibe.. loved all the details! very cinematic, instantly transporting you, and the food was so delish. Went with the chef selection sushi platter and some favourite starters Takoyaki and edamame beans. The japanese garden for dessert was good but a bit big for one person, we should have ordered just one for two people. I was very surprised about how good the non alcoholic cocktails were! And mezcal margaritas for the win! Pricey but worth it!
#bristolfoodies. Payed parking available nearby.
Kibou is an excellent Japanese food restaurant. I wanted to try it purely because it was Japanese and my expectations weren't super high as generally these places tend to lose some of the actually japanese type of quality due to ingredients but I was so wrong in this instance.
Kibou ended up being an excellent traditional japanese restaurant. Their Chicken Katsu took me back to the times I was in Japan and I felt like all those memories came back to me.
It is unbelievable how it took me back in time to quickly with just the 1st taste.
The staff was amazing. From start ti end they were attentivr and helpful and they always wanted to give us the best and to make us feel as comfortablr possible. Amazing hard workers!
I loved the design of the place. Their wall drawings were really cool and their menus had a great japanese style.
In terms of prices, by the looked of the place, it looked really expensive but I was also wrong as it is affordable and the food/service is worth every single pound of it.
One of the best sushi spots in Bristol. Really cool restaurant right in the heart of Clifton serving traditional and contemporary sushi and shashimi options. We always go for the chefs superior sushi and shashimi 20 piece selection and it’s always excellent as are their cocktails. The service is good and friendly although due to their own success the staff sometimes appear overwhelmed. Ultimately this is an ideal ‘fancier’ spot for entertaining friends or going out on a date - you won’t be disappointed!
I've had the pleasure of tasting a number of great Japanese eats in Bristol and other areas, but none were as outstanding as KIBOU. Somewhat unassuming on the inside, the service was attentive and knowledgeable about the food. The selection from the menu is astounding (little overwhelming almost), and very inviting. The dishes are Japanese perfection, full of flavour and roundness. The menu is perfect for sharing also, so get on down with your friends and enjoy!
A wonderful experience every time. Staff are friendly and engaging, and the food has great variety and flavour. Vegan options are well thought-out and considered, and it's great now they have a vegan Volcano roll 🙌🏼 Booking ahead highly recommended - this place is always popular for a reason 💚
We were pleased to get a table whilst visiting Bristol late on a Sunday evening, having failed in our last visit in April.
Cocktails were really good (Singapore Sling is my go to, so have a high expectation).
Starters of miso aubergine, unagi nigiri, and bang bang prawns - wow! - you have to try. Amazing. My curry udon didn't come with broth, which was unusual, but I probably just didn't read the menu properly. My wife's teryaki salmon was delicious. The decor, atmosphere, service and food were all excellent. We will return without fail 🤗
One distinct advantage of Kibou over Wagamama is the duck buns. Really wonder why Wagamama stopped them. I liked the fusion of yaki udon noodles with katsu curry (usually served dry in other Japanese restaurants). We used to enjoy Nasu Dengaka (charred aubergine) in Germany, and were missing in the UK, but we found it now 😀
Atmosphere is one top class with staffs extremely friendly. I don't know why such nice restaurants are all in clifton. I wish they were in North Bristol. Nevertheless, we will visit you soon!
Food, amazing. Atmosphere and decor, spot on. Service....wow! Well done Kibou Bistol, we WILL be back!
Better than any Japanese restaurant in central Bristol. The ramen is a little bit sweet but they gave me 3 huge pieces of Chashu toppings that I was not even able to finish. The sashimi here is innovative which is in a good way. Recommended!
I love the drinks, the staff and of course the atmosphere. The food is good but I've had better sashimi and sushi before if I'm honest but I'm totally going back there to try different dishes. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The cocktails are exceptional. I've also tried one of the low alcohol cocktails. It was really delicious. I can't remember the name of that drink.
Fabulous meal! Took our uni student daughter out for a treat, it was her choice. My introduction to Japanese food, it was amazing, the best meal out I've had in years. Excellent, friendly and knowledgeable service. I will definitely be going back
July 2023
Went back... unbelievably, even more enjoyable than the last time! Can't wait for next time! I had endame beans to start, followed by chicken Katsu curry, and the Japanese garden to finish (chocolate ganache, sesame mousse and chocolate soil... amazing!) Washed down with the non alcoholic (I was driving) Aloe Aloe cocktail
Amazing food and such a nice atmosphere. I love the vibe of this place! We ate in and ordered small plates to share and we couldn’t decide which was our favourite. They were all delicious!
Recommend!
We came on a busy sat night and it was totally full!
The food was delicious and the waitresses super friendly but the service was a bit chaotic and 2 dishes didn't arrive we had ordered the bill! But in fairness, they didn't charge us for them
Finally managed to get a reservation here, and wow it did not disappoint! All of the dishes were ordered were delicious, particularly the volcano roll - I think it might even be one of the best pieces of sushi I've ever tasted! Cocktails were fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Staff were super helpful and were constantly checking in to make sure everything was okay. I also felt the pricing was extremely reasonable considering the quality of both food and service. Would love to return again as soon as possible.
The food and drinks were tasty. However, we had failed to make a reservation and the female manager told us we couldn't dine there. My partner was charming enough to convinced her to let us eat at the bar. I was a bit disturbed since down stairs had ample seating ...and as persons left , she failed to check on us to offer us a table. The service can obviously be better.
