Wonderful roast. The potatoes and gravy were each served separately so you could control the gravy and not make the plate too soggy! Meat was cooked perfectly. One of the best roasts I've had in Bristol!
We visited for Sunday lunch and the food was delicious, one of the best Sunday lunches we have had out - and there have been many! Beef was perfectly rare 😋. Couldn't resist the creamiest of mature cheddar for dessert!
Very nice lunch with a friend. Beautifully decorated interior, sat by the lovely festive, fireplace!
Very quiet when we got there about 1:30pm so not much atmosphere, but great for sitting and having a chat!!
I enjoyed my chips and smoked salmon cornets, very pricey though.
Would definitely go back in the evening to try a main meal!
Simply incredible. From the atmosphere to the staff that is super lovely, we had an amazing night. The food is just perfect, very high quality and different from anything you can find in the city for a very reasonable price. It has become one of my favourite restaurant in Bristol and will definitely go back again and again !
Great pub and location. Pub is really well maintained, nice beer garden. The roast here I would definitely recommend, had the beef, was really soft and tasty, roast potatoes were crispy and soft on the inside. Gravy was nice and thick, Yorkshire pudding was nicely cooked. Cauliflower cheese was amazing.
Honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. We ordered everything on the menu and every single dish was perfection. Newstead is a genius in the kitchen and the service from Caitlin was superb. I encourage anyone to travel to Bristol just for this experience.
Stunning Roast here. Very relaxed, we were here for 2.5 hours, had the nicest crisp cold Prosecco here also. Great wine selection also. Will definitely be back.
Lovely local, friendly staff. The kind of place you can tell that they take pride in how it looks, always clean and well looked after. Haven't had the food their yet, though it does look very nice.
Lovely little place, went for a roast , best roasties (potatoes) I've had in a long time , and as we all know the roastie makes the rest dinner.

Delicious Sunday roast, the beef was cooked perfectly, the roast potatoes were super crispy, and the veg and gravy were really tasty. The staff were great, the restaurant looked lovely, and wasn't too busy either so felt covid safe. I'll definitely be back! 😃

Everything about this place is great. Service was relaxed, dishes well timed and wow! What food. Fine dining to match the best places in Bristol with noticeable French training.. can not recommend enough.

This will definitely be our go too place for those special occasions. The Al a cart restaurant has a very pleasant ambience.
We ordered our meals which were the pork cheeks with prunes and apple for me and Davie had the partridge with cauliflower cheese sauce and truffle. The meals were excellent. The flavours amazing
While we waited we were brought 2 delicate appetisers and divine small cob loaf with cheesie butter.
We both had the star and dove raspberry gin with lemonade.
Dessert was next and I ordered the chocolate gateau with ginger and orange. Everyone needs to try this cake. Seriously. I never wanted it to finish so I ate very slow.
David had the lemonade tart with meringue.
I did think the pastry was not the best I have had but Davie enjoyed it.

I have to say this place impressed me. It is probably the best place for a roast in Bristol. I got the beef and it was simply delicious, perfectly seasoned and cooked just right with all the trimmings. The staff were very friendly and the atmos was amazing. I really recommend this place. 🤤ðŸ«
