My new favourite restaurant! We had a great evening at Pepenero from start to finish. The food was delicious, we had garlic bread and meats to start followed by pasta dishes, would recommend the lasagne. The homemade gelato is definitely some of the best I’ve ever tried, great range of flavours too. The service was great, the staff were attentive and you can tell this is a family run restaurant as the owner checked in with all the diners, it’s a little things like this that show someone really cares about their customers and the food they are serving. Can’t wait to go back, the pizzas looked incredible so will look forward to getting one next time.
Really lovely food, probably the best pizza I've ever had. Had two vegan pizzas, garlic bread and chips! Plus some nice beers in the end, note try the beers before you buy. Bar man was very friendly and helped us find a beer we liked!
So exciting to be able to choose from so many meat substitutes to put on your pizza as a vegetarian - think this is the only place I've been to that offers so much choice. They came on rustic pizza boards which was fun, and service was quick and easy with a remote device that tells you when to collect.
It's a bar-style feel inside (dark-ish with music and I think a TV) so not a classic restaurant experience (compared with Pizza Express etc) but nice to have an alternative like this, felt like a very student-y place to go, and more casual for a pizza night out.
Not the best place but absolutely lovely vegan food. A lot of vegan options: pizza, salad, starters, cake, milkshake and ice cream. Try and enjoy
Great pizza at a really good price, and a nice chilled atmosphere even on a quiet busy night.
I don't usually ever write reviews but this is by far the best pizza I have come across in Bristol. The dough is just perfect and the tomato sauce is fresh tasting. Though don't eat dairy I can still enjoy pizza as I remember due to their incredible vegan mozzarella! haven't tasted anything like that ever, so close to the real thing! 10/10
I genuinely never write reviews, however I had to today. It's been a while since I've ordered from here, we don't take out often. Goodness it's delicious!! I had to share the fact the fact that their pizzas are the best in the Bristol. Thank you Pepenero! (Also, thank you Delivery Man!!)
Love the pizzas, but half the time they are out of stock of something. Visited three times before reserving a dessert on the phone (vegan chocolate cake) and it was meh, and twice they were out of salmon. Still. Really nice food, lovely cozy room. And the ice-cream is really nice. Shame not all the flavours are available at once.
Absolutely amazing. So delicious if you like pizza you have to go here. Their vegan range is out of this world but they also cater for veges and people who eat meat. The fact it is in the beer emporium means it's quite loud in there but the food is amazing and service is good and very fast.
We came here for the lunchtime deal and it was fantastic pizza! Had so much flavour. The beer is lovely too. Great setting as well in a funky lit up cellar. Only slight downfall I can mention is that the seating furniture definitely needs to be updated but not worth losing a star for :)
First review I've written for a food place, but the pizza's so good here I felt compelled to.
Myself and my partner have ordered from this place five times now, and each time the pizza has been fantastic. Hot, fresh and delicious. Basically the opposite of the larger pizza chains out there.
I order the vegan pizza's (though I'm not a vegan ). You wouldn't blame some for thinking vegan pizza suffers in some way for not including dairy or meat - but I've found the opposite is true. As a guy who loves meat, I'm going to continue to order the vegan pizza's from Pepenero because it's just that good.
Bottom line, if you're looking for great pizza, made with fresh ingredients that arrives hot to your door, get it from here. Best pizza I've had.
Great little find, not too far away from cabot/the galleries. Very good prices, and great atmosphere. They do normal and gluten free pizza bases, as well as meat pizzas, vegetarian options and vegan options too. I'd recommend the dark chocolate and hemp vegan ice cream too! 4 stars given only because the two times I've been here, there's been no mock salmon.
Delicious pizza! I first went to Pepenero with my family and we are all fairly critical of food. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our pizza, having ordered a variety of different types (vegan, veggie and meat). We had a lovely time and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The seating area had a diner sort of theme to it, nothing fancy but cosy and laid back. I am looking forward to eating there again.
Delicious pizza and very good variety of beer. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Found the beer a tad expensive and I didn't realise they had a lunch deal on - that was my mistake as the sign was right in front of me. But overall good experience and good service.
Great vegan pizzas! Plenty of different flavours/toppings on offer. Vegan Diavola is 👌🏻. Friendly staff, good atmosphere. I visit Pepenero every time I am in Bristol.
Ate my own bodyweight of the Vegan Fest pizza at the Beer Emporium branch, and could have eaten more. Dough was light and soft inside with a decent crunch. Garlic bread strong enough to leave your tongue numb. Double chocolate cake with gelato silky and sweet and indistinguishable from dairy. Beautiful bar - old brick, carved varnished wood - and friendly staff. Disabled access excellent with lift and level floor. Even the background music is pleasant - Lemon Jelly playing as we left. Thanks for a lovely experience.
Definitely up there with the best pizza places in Bristol. The Italian owners are friendly and welcoming, and pizzas are all freshly made with authentic Italian ingredients. Choose from a variety of toppings to eat in or takeaway - and they do delivery too.
Head in there for lunch and enjoy one of a selection of sandwiches or Italian pastries - a great little place that still seems to be relatively undiscovered because of its location...
Vegan munch worth travelling for!
I ended up at the coach station with time to spare & tracked down this great Italian eatery.
The vegan section on the pizza menu was vast & other areas weren't lacking either.
The diavola pizza & lasagne were the best Italian I'd had in years, while the chocolate cake topped it all off perfectly.
Of course it wasn't the healthiest place to eat, but the array of options & quality meant it was worth the treat.
They managed to turn the whole order around in 10 minutes on a Saturday night, ideal as I had to hop on a coach shortly afterwards.
When I'm next in Bristol I'll be paying them a visit for sure.
