This cafe is among our top favorites in the Clifton area. This is our go-to cafe after our weekend morning walks at the Downs and it never disappoints each visit. It has a wonderful open-air seating and a lovely view of the picturesque Durdham Downs. Staff are friendly. The toasties are excellent (my personal favorite is the brie, cranberry, ham combo. Good coffee and tea selection. It's pet friendly too, which is a plus. It even has a Dogs of the Downs photo gallery inside... quite heartwarming. It can get very busy on weekend mornings and brunches so come early. Highly recommended!

The Downs Cafe is a great place to spend a sunny morning or afternoon. They offer a nice selection of coffee (most for less than £3) and snacks (pastries etc), and also sell sandwiches if you're after something a bit more substantial. Indoor and outdoor seating are both available

After a long walk just the place for a good cup of coffee with toast and marmalade. Gluten-free option for bread, perfect.

A go to place for a relaxing coffee and a chat. Outside you have views across the magnificent downs, and if the weather isn't favourable then inside is airy and atmospheric (shame there aren't more tables but then it's a smallish space and they have made the most of it. I think I've been to this venue more than any other coffee shop in Bristol

I like the eggs sandwhich with extra bacon; 50% of the time comes as ordered, once no bacon, twice missing egg, 3 times no ketchup as ordered.... Service is reasonable but sometimes long gap between getting drink and food but that will be the food speed.... would be better if was reliable... missing egg today which this time i asked for this time and it came fast but undercooked,...

I discovered this pleasant atmosphere and exceptional members of staff during the summer Pride event. Exceptional throughout 'Gert Lush' (as Bristolians would say) coffee & refreshments. Toilet facility clean & tidy, a reasonable size bathroom if you have disabilities. The only reason I gave 4 ⭐ stars for the overall experience is the main room at peak times is busy & therefore can be difficult to navigate around the tightly placed tables & seating. On the most recent visit woof Arthur got spooked by another dog & the tables flew, as did my coffee . . ! The staff were brilliant at putting back order & refreshing my 🍵 cup.

Just the perfect place for a Sunday morning coffee while out walking the Downs. It has an easy atmosphere and beautiful views, with a good choice of foods and drinks, this cafe ticks all the boxes for a relaxing treat to celebrate your day.

Lovely place to sit and relax on the Clifton Downs while enjoying a coffee and a bite to eat. Plenty of choice for veggies, and the meze board in particular was well thought out and beautifully presented. Special mention also for the amazing eggs in my bap, now that's what I call a proper yellow yolk! Staff were excellent during a really busy service.

Had perfectly cooked and seasoned scrambled eggs on sourdough with a great black coffee that tasted slightly hazelnut. Fabulous!

Lovely cafe in many ways BUT while the background music choices are great, they are way too loud. It is called 'background' music for a reason. You can't hear yourself think, let alone the people talking to you. It feels like the sound is at a level for the enjoyment of staff rather than customers. Just turn it down a bit please.
