Lovely atmosphere in the pub and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was good and reasonably priced. The Yorkshire pudding was up there with the best and the roast potatoes were great. The only real negative was the cauliflower cheese, no one in our group of 6 liked it.
The Sunday roast was fantastic. Our entire table thought it was the best we had ever had. The beef was tender and succulent. The swede mash and roasted root vegetables perfectly done with a great variety of colours of carrots and parsnips. The Yorkshire pudding was huge and light and crisp. Another
Banging burgers, great local beers, super beer garden. There was a mix up with our food order, but was dealt with expertly and professionally. Will happily visit again
This has to be one of the best roasts in Bristol and not too pricey either. We were well looked after by Ade our entire visit. The pork bonbon starter was truly delicious, and the pork belly main was cooked perfectly. Highly recommended and an wonderful tropical beer garden too
Great Sunday lunch for 7 of us and our dog! Everything was well cooked and, omg, the portions were huge! Great friendly service too despite being fully booked and busy!
A great little pub with lovely staff. You'll find a good selection of beer here, plus Sunday roast and curry is on offer. Can't go wrong here. Been a few times now and it is becoming one of my favourites!
Fantastic selection of beers and the back outdoor space is a good vibe.
It’s a good job I don’t live close bumpy as I’d be in every night if I was. A G&T and a pint was £8:50.
The Hope and Anchor has a new landlord, they have made a great start in making this a great pub, it's no longer focused on the student market place, it's moving towards becoming a local for everyone including students. Updated June 23. It contains to improve, it's dog friendly has been repainted and
Although the menu (Sunday lunch) was short, 1 starter, 4 mains and 3 puddings, the food was excellent, the garden a perfect setting for a great Sunday roast.
Fantastic tiered garden, watch your step if a little tipsy! Rather expecting more from the beer selection. Bar staff no idea if accept CAMRA discount. But seems a great friendly crowd and a place I'd revisit.
Googled ‘the best roast in Bristol’ and this place came up. It exceeded all our expectations. The slow cooked pork was the best easily. Melt in the mouth and really crispy crackling. And the portions were massive! Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
We had the pork belly roast, incredible ! Friendly service and really cosy beer garden. We will be back!
Nice old pub. Very friendly staff and good beers. Looked like the meals were very popular. Well located, we enjoyed our brief stay.
It's the staff that did it for me. Also super fun pub quiz. But staff are all kind, good listeners & fun people
Splendid roast, lovely hosts and a great selection of beers not stupidly priced. What a find!!
Enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast beef dinner with extremely helpful and friendly staff. Dog friendly too! What's not to like?
16th April 2023 Popped in after a pleasant walk around the surrounding area. Great Sunday lunch, had the pork which was so good, cracklin was crackin and the size of the yorkies 😱 (massive). All in all very happy with both the meal and the service.
Good selection of local Bristol beers, friendly staff and the outside garden is one of the best in Bristol.
