A very pleasant pub with excellent food. The building is a few hundred years old, and the decor is a mix of old and new, but it works really well. There are a few rooms on different levels, but the bottom floor is accessible by wheelchair or pushchair. There's a separate bar on the ground floor. I only popped in for a pint and chips (delicious!), but I'll definitely return.

What a lovely place to be! Amazing food, lovely interior, kind staff, hilarious locks on the toilet door. I had the crisp potato pieces and beetroot salad with goats cheese, so yummy! Looking forward to coming back here😊

We had the pleasure of dining at Christmas Steps and tried their Sunday Roast that was fire! The place had a warm and distinctive ambiance and staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming. Highly recommended

Lovely cosy pub that also does an exceptional Sunday lunch! Our party contained ages from 30 to 96 and in food terms, a caeliac and a vegan. All were well catered for in terms of choice and the servings and food quality were excellent. Particular mention to the staff, who were outstanding in terms of friendliness and helpfulness. This is a great option if you are in Bristol and the surrounding area is nice to wander around also.

We recently had Sunday roast here and everything was smooth and straightforward from reservations to ordering and the payment process. We loved the ambiance and it gave us a glimpse of what it probably have looked like in medieval times. The negroni aperitif was refreshingly delightful. The roast was delicious, and the deconstructed strawberry cheesecake was fabulous! Two thumbs up. We asked for a quiet corner and were given one. Staff was friendly, professional, and can help you with food options. Highly recommended!

Lovely pub right in the middle of Bristol. We went just before December and they already had some lovely Christmas decorations on, so they were true to their name. We could easily book a table and the service was great. Lovely selection of drinks and food. Definitely would recommend for anyone looking to have a few in a cozy pub.

Popped in this cosy little pub whilst on a quiet night out. But was cosy comfortable and not packed you couldn't have a conversation would definitely pay this place another visit

An atmospheric city centre pub with lots of nooks and crannies, a decent selection of drinks and a small outside area in a courtyard overlooked by office blocks. It’s a historic building and makes the most of the character in the decor. Lots of steps to reach some of the seating and the toilets

Quality gastropub in the heart of Bristol. Good range of drinks, from local breweries to international staples. The food is good, especially the new menu - I recommend the Wings! Come with a few mates, grab some food and beers - you'll have a quality afternoon out!

Sunday roast was very good except the Cauliflower cheese (as a side dish) which was watery. Staff were excellent and shared in some humour.

Just as i remember then 40 years ago. Many of the shops have gone or remain empty except a barbers half way up. Nice leather shop at the top but the jewel is definitely Ah Toots at the bottom. A wonderful little cake shop which is definitely worth a visit
