Her Majesty's Secret Service (HMSS) is a stunning cocktail bar that offers an unforgettable experience. Located in the heart of Whiteladies Road - Bristol, just next to the Clifton train station, this bar is perfect for anyone looking for a fun night out with friends or a romantic evening with a loved one.
Upon entering HMSS, you are transported into a different world. The décor is reminiscent of a 1950s British spy film, complete with dark wooden panels, vintage furniture, and dim lighting. The attention to detail is impressive. Would advise perhaps booking in advance, as the space is popular, if not, you can still try and ask if there's some space available.
The bar menu is just as impressive as the decor. The cocktail list is extensive and features unique and inventive drinks. The friendly bartenders are skilled and passionate, creating cocktails that not only look incredible but taste delicious, with attention to allergies. Whether you're in the mood for a classic Martini or a more adventurous concoction, HMSS has something for everyone.
Overall, Her Majesty's Secret Service is a must-visit for cocktail lovers. The ambience is unique, the drinks are creative and delicious, and the service is excellent. It's no wonder this bar has become so popular!
If you like cocktails I highly recommend this place! The whole experience is excellent, all the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks menu. The decor is cosy and had a swanky feel. And finally the cocktails, I had a Tommy's Margarita, a White Negroni and a Made in Japan, all tasted excellent, my only criticism would be I was left wanting more 🙂
Absolutely excellent cocktail bar. Aiden looked after our group so well, we will definitely be back.
The interior design is very retro, plus the staffs here explain and help you to choose the cocktail best for for your tongue, and cocktails are creative and funny and most importantly yummy. Perhaps it seems a bit spenny but I promise all the money you spend there is worth
Absolutely superb. Easy to book a table online. Fabulous menu of cocktails, but they will make whatever you like. Try the shots too, they're amazing. Table service can't be beaten. All the staff were awesome. Our new favourite haunt. Oh... and they do Space Raiders too. Pickled onions ones.
If you want a good cocktail, come here. I came here with my Sister and my friend and had a good time. Be prepared though, prices are very high.
Went to HMSS on Friday 27th October. Was warmly welcomed on arrival by Mike and his team. Cannot fault this place at all - service was outstanding, recommendations for cocktails were exactly to our tastes and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be back again! Thank you guys!
Great cocktails in some interesting glasses/mugs! Go for the Shark Attack unless you don't like sweet things. Friendly staff. Reserve a table! If you play Jenga and lose they may give u a forfeit!
love this hidden speakeasy so much! they have really creative cocktails and their 5pm-7pm happy hour makes them very decently priced at £7. the staff there are great, we were sat by the bar and were served by a great chap from Barry (didn’t get his name sadly)! not really a place like it in Bristol so don’t miss it if you’re in clifton.

Brilliant place! We went as a couple and everyone made us feel so welcome and the cocktails were bloody delicious. There was a JENGA game to play too while we were waiting for our drinks and good music vibe, I do think however the decor could reflect the theme more and some more games is a win. I wish I knew the bartenders names that were awesome with great vibes on 26th Nov in the evening for a shoutout , anyway no matter I will be back for sure. 🫢

Booked a table in this nice, cozy hidden bar as a send-off for friends visiting from London for the weekend recently and wasn't disappointed. Booking online was a breeze with very clear instructions. Our table location was perfect for us. The staff was very professional yet friendly. We love the creative drinks. The only thing that wasn't ideal was that sone of the snacks we liked were not available. But overall, it was a very pleasant experience and a very positive first impression of the bar. Unfortunately, the iconic phone booth entrance is gone. Nonetheless, two thumbs up. 😊
Great speakeasy with layers of whimsy and comfort. Staff were very friendly and the drinks were as delicious as they were inventive. Good menu that showed comparisons of their inventions with more well-known cocktails. A great fun stop to fit in a night out.
Excellent cocktail menu, cocktails and service, as to be expected. Cant fault that at all. Only gave 4 stars as it was lacking slightly in ambience and atmosphere in comparison to other similar cocktail bars around the city.
LOVED this place. Really cool vibe and great bar. The service was excellent! Genuine smiles all round from the staff, really attentive and didn’t feel like they were too rushed to talk you through the drinks and offer their suggestions. The cocktails were really fun but also perfectly balanced with great unique flavours. Not one of those bars that sacralises flavour for something that looks cool. Definitely visit again soon!
went with a group of friends and had a blast - staff were extremely friendly and communicative, cocktails were good fun and tasted fab, would definitely recommend! such a great little place!

Such a fun experience, I was particularly impressed by the knowledgeable waiters and the entertaining drink decor!
Wow what a find, we fancied a cheeky Wednesday evening cocktail and stumbled upon this place, when we saw the cocktails being served on other tables we instantly thought we were looking at £20 a cocktail due to the incredible presentation and styling, we were wrong and they were actually incredibly great value. Usually this would be the sort place we’d go to every now and then but I’m sure the is will become a regular fixture in our weekly alcoholic fixture list.
We had such a great evening here - Max was a dream and added so much to our evening. The drinks were fab and everyone so friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back 😊 we spent a lot but we also drank a lot
