A recent visit was great. We sat outside making the most of some sunshine. Service was great - we had it explained that it was full table service and we could choose any table we liked. Brunch, lunch and drink menus were brought to us. Drinks were served quickly and lunch mains took a while (45 minutes ish) but when they arrived they were very good quality and deliciously fresh. A great place to stop on a sunny lunchtime.
Beautifully maintained pub, love the grounds, plants, flowers and decor. Very well cleaned and kept. Servers were polite and professional, it was a glorious day, so we sat out front and enjoyed my Pulped peach Melba cider, gorgeous!!
Whilst based in Bath we had a day out in Bristol and decided to walk up to the Clifton Suspension Bridge and found the Pump House on the way. Sitting outside in the sunshine we had poached eggs, black pudding and potato rosti which was absolutely delicious.
Nice spot for a roast! When you make a reservation it's for a table inside. Definitely take advantage of the outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Roast was solid and there were so many options outside of thr traditional beef, pork and nut! I highly recommend the Ogleshield cauliflower cheese!
Had the best service and food at The Pump House last night. We had the allotment starter, the gurnard and their new pumpkin tart dish. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were lovely and adapted the menu to suit one member of our party who is gluten free. Great experience all round. Only rated atmosphere as slightly lower because it was very quiet that evening but we’ve been before when it’s been a great atmosphere.
We have been visiting the Pump House for over forty years and in that time it has changed a lot - sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. The views remain the same and it is a great place to sit by the lockside with your favourite tipple. The brunch food is currently really good - freshly cooked - and I particularly recommend the BLT. Located by the Cumberland Basin, it is a good place for a break as you walk around the harbour. There is a small amount of parking for the less energetic.
Great Sunday roast! Big and comfortable restaurant, both inside and outside, good if you go with kids and family or if you need a big table for a group.
I went with my 2 year old kid and friends, and I appreciated that i had enough place to go in with the pram and also to leave it open. They also have half a portion for kids, but I didn't try it. There is a changing room toilet.
The food and service were excellent. Lovely sunny autumn day. Me and my son enjoyed a roast in the garden. They provide half portions of all the adult meals for kids which is a plus.Table service was fast and friendly. Will definitely be back.
Lovely pub/eatery. Very stylish. A great location with a bear garden overlooking the harbour. Staff lovely. Espresso Martini was lovely! Over 40 gins available! Didn't try the food but looked nice.
Delicious food, friendly service and beautiful location next to the harbour.
Great Sunday roast lunch. Bottle of Lebanese wine helped. Delivered hot and we even had dessert it was too good to miss. Nice inside. Walk in, not booked.
I’ve been here about 4 times, and It’s my favourite Sunday roast in Bristol! The staff is super friendly, the location is quite nice specially in sunny days (if summer there is a large outside seating area) facing the canal. The restaurants offers limited parking which could be handy specially for those with kids. The food is phenomenal and as a pub a vast selection of spirits and beers. The interior decoration quite quirky, with lots of old enamel signs and adverts. A must!
Food excellent. Waited far too long for service as if being ignored even though we had booked table. Spoke to staff, manageress stepped in, very politely and things got moving. Quality of food saved the day. There seems to be a tendency for eateries to keep you waiting especially after your initial drinks round. If that is to encourage you to buy more drinks then it should stop. Next time I am kept unnecessarily hanging about I will try elsewhere.
Nice relaxed atmosphere, quiet on my visit but can't imagine it being overly crowded and loud. Food was fine, bit too much salt for my taste but that might be just me. Standard is definitely better than normal pub food.
Booked for a lunch on recommendation and It was stunning food wise.
Top marks for social distancing protocols and track ‘n trace.
Lets come to the food, the gem lettuce 🥬 dish with the broth and vegetables was delicious. The sauce conveyed a unique taste, it wasnt too buttery and was sour and spicy. I bet it was a healthy sauce. So dip your breads in the sauce and enjoy it.
Main course - hake, mussels, grapes 🍇 and bed of spinach and the same classic sauce. Fish and chips was classic but do remember to get your vinegar. The dip is thick and I bet its fatty, but you don’t have to finish it.
I highly recommend it.
What a treat to spend a late summer evening at the Pump House. Attentive, friendly service. Delicious food in generous portions. Great atmosphere. And convenient parking! What more can you ask for!
