Feeling positively Mediterranean in the garden on a warm September evening, with ripe grapes dripping from the vines.
Lovely draught bitter, and some excellent tasty goodies; jalapeño bites, chilli cheese chips and a margarita pizza.
Lovely place, will visit again
What a fantastic pub. It is under sad circumstances that I discovered this pub - visiting my mother-in-law at the hospital accross the road - but it's a delight. Three very different rooms, all showing sport. On the day I visited they managed to show cricket, football, rugby, and keep everybody happy. The service is quick and friendly and the food was excellent.
Friendly staff and good atmosphere for an afternoon football game on the Telly. Child friendly too!
Nice traditional feel to this pub. We called in when visiting nearby and had a pizza and a pint - which was good. There was rugby on, so the place was busy but, as always, rugby fans are gents. Worth a visit I'd say
Lovely place (my six-year-old calls it the 'secret pub' because of the entrance through a wall into the beer garden). Fantastic Sunday roasts, great rest-of-the-week menu, and good beer. Garden is a really pleasant place to while away an hour or two, and the inside is cosy. Staff are cool, but in a friendly way 👍
Rapid and charismatic service, great beer and really comfortable interior - cheeky bonus of an outdoor area and screens for the sports. Definitely my new local!
I Wasn't too sure of this place when I looked it up mainly due to the photos online..
It looks like a real old gents pub and wasn't sure if it would have anybody intl there.. but on my first visit to meet a good friend I soon realised this is part of the character of the pub, old.. young everyone's in there having a time.
Just nice people great atmosphere and lovely bar staff.
A brief chat with the chef on the first NIGHT I was in and she said she doesn't mind working over if I'm needing food. That as first impressions is a nice touch.
Today was my second visit just for a couple of after work drinks solo, I'd already eaten so wast looking for food but the smell from the kitchen was enough to entice a greedy Yorkshire man like myself to order again!
I chose the Pork Poutine as I'd been recommended and...
....All I can say is comfort food!!!
It reminds me of Cullen Skink, a smoked haddock winter warmer from the Highlands where I usually live, but not by taste, just the good feeling of eating something that makes you want to be at home eating in front of a movie.
Lovely little venue with outside seating great staff throughout and a good bar menu, will definitely be back to try more of the menu!!
Thank you!
Excuse the photos.. it might not look worthy of a review but this is just good basic tasty food to be eaten and not just photographed for likes!!
A great pub on St Michael's Hill, cracking Sunday lunches at a good price and a good selection of beers and ciders.
Really nice pub with some well kept real ale on. Food was great. Well worth the walk up the hill.
I visited The Colston Arms (soon to be renamed The Open Arms?) today to catch the football. The staff were very friendly and made me feel at home straight away. Good drinks, but by far the staff make this pub what it is. (Tinder Corner is hilarious)!
One of my favourite spots for a nice pint near town. Not too expensive (less than £5 for a lager) and the beer garden is lovely in the Summer.
Old pubs like this around redland/centre never disappoint and need to stay alive. Go!
We visited midweek to watch the champions League Football. Atmosphere was cosy but vibrant, plenty of space despite there being two games on. Very impressed with the bar staff, friendly and helpful... Service was great. Love the Estrella on tap. Great pub, couldn't recommend enough
Lovely beer garden, but gosh have the prices hiked up! £6+ for a staropramen :( Inflation gone nuts. Love it here though, the garden makes it.
Place is still amazing after all these years, great staff and good food and service
Great local pub with amazing service
