Could not recommend Bar 44 enough. We had the private room yesterday for a 40th birthday celebration and it was fantastic from start to finish!
Food & cocktails were amazing, staff were so lovely! Felt really exclusive downstairs and even had full reign of the music downstairs. Absolutely 5* and would recommend if you want to book a private event!
There were two standout dishes at Bar 44. The Sobrasada Ibérica with rosemary honey. Salty, sweet and smokey and the Olavidia cheese with flatbread and chutney. These were a delightful way to start the meal. The remaining dishes all had something I would add or change. The padrón peppers needed some flaky salt, a higher ratio of jamon in the croquetas, finer crumb on the scallops and a chunkier salad to balance out the smokiness of the duck patty. The pork belly was extremely dry and the fat chewy. Overall, we enjoyed our meal but think some minor adjustments could make the food great.
The range of drinks on offer is fantastic, as a vermouth lover I was pleased to see such a range on offer - especially the rojo on tap.
Service is fabulous, inviting and makes the whole experience enjoyable.
We booked a table downstairs in the vault and it was an all round exquisite experience. The server was perfect, so attentive, but not overly, very fun and so helpful. The ambience was perfect and the food was knock-out. I'm definitely going to book this again for a lunchtime party. Best day out for a long time. Thank you Bar 44!

As a Spanish woman lover of the Spanish gastronomy I am not a fan of visiting tapas restaurants outside the country as the food is usually adapt to the country's ways of cooking. But I have to say that here I was impressed. The jamón wasn't only delicious, but very well cut; the croquettes were fully charged of Iberian flavour and the tortilla with sobrasada was simply delicious and onion free (as it should be 😉). The only thing we order out of the traditional tapa's scheme was the duck burger and it was lush. Great drinks menu, staff friendly, helpful and patient (believe, they are great). A place to go is you want to try a bit of Spain (although the prices are not so Spanish).

Having lived in Spain, this is one of the places I like to come to to get the feel and food of Spain. Good selection of wines, the dishes are all very tasty. It is a bit pricier than Spain! 😉
On occasions there has been live Flamenco, which is always an experience. I really like this place!
Exceptional food and service. Kitchen and front of house are obvs passionate and they know what they are doing. People of Bristol should check them out.
Last minute walk in. Great service from start to end. Ordered 8 plates between two people (patatas bravas x 2, broccoli x2, chicken, Iberico pork, ox cheek, hake, tuna tartare & pan con tomate)
Fabulous food, best patatas bravas I’ve had, a little salty but so crunchy and delicious! all dishes were cooked well and seasoned well (ox cheek could have used a touch of salt)… Would definitely recommend visiting again to try their cocktails as we just had standard spirits + mixer… it’s on the pricier side if you really go for it but I’d do it again!
Been there a couple times with my partner to celebrate birthdays/anniversary. Excellent service, the staff are are doing an amazing job to make each customer feel welcome. Lovely selection of drinks and delicious food! Prices not too bad for the quality and location. Highly recommend

Imaginative decor, food and (house) wine excellent, staff super super friendly, sure.
But there's always an indefinable extra which makes you certain you'll return.

My favourite cocktail place in Bristol - couldn’t recommend visiting here more. It was just a stop as we explored but super glad we popped in.
All the staff were so welcoming and informative (and super friendly) - we sat at the bar and learnt more about the inspiration behind some of the cocktails and recipes.
Would love to go back when they have new menus - I was eyeing up the Sunday roast as people ordered which looked mouthwatering and filling! We had a couple of the bar snacks - croquettes and cheese and were very much pleased with our choices alongside the cocktails!

The atmosphere was great and the service was really good. The staff were polite and welcoming but our food did take around 45 minutes to come and the meat was slightly colder than we would have hoped. Everything was delicious though and we’d be keen to return! Excellent and unique spanish tapas version of a roast!

Great restaurant and service! I couldn’t reserve a table online for Sunday but went by the restaurant at 14:00 and the front of house (host) was very kind to arrange us a table, good man. Sunday menu is different and the roast takes the spotlight however we were unable to ask for it, fortunately as it’s wasn’t my intention. The tapas menu for Sunday were varied and on point for what’s expecting, mostly Andalusian dishes, the classic. We selected an assortment, drinks and came all fast and nicely cooked. The waiting staff was kind, polite and helpful. The space, atmosphere and layout of restaurant is clever and warm, the only thing to point out specially if you have reduced mobility is the bathrooms being on -1 with a flight of stairs. Price wise is reasonable.
Went for a beer tasting class, we were very well looked after, had an insight of the passion that the owner has for Spain, the decor is beautiful, and the place is spotless clean. Everything was carefully catered for and selected to balance out flavours. I went with a friend from Galicia, we both loved the wine, beers and service. I definitely will be back.
Tasty tapas and a notch above in terms of quality. We went on a busy Saturday night and the service was good. The olive oil ice cream was also an interesting but pleasant way to finish the meal.
I went here this evening for my birthday with my family. We were greeted by the lovely Anna who was serving us all evening. We ordered many tapas dishes all of which were incredible. The service was also 10/10 and we will definitely be returning. Thank you Anna!!! :)
