With majority of people voting for Mexican, I went to a Mexican restaurant right in the centre of the city. With over 4.6 stars out of 5 on google, I had a very good expectation from the restaurant and food obviously. The restaurant is built in one of the cargos near the harbour-side and it is perfect for summers if you fancy eating outside on the balcony. I chose to sit inside though but the vibes were no less there.
What I ordered -
Pic 1 - Cantina Classic Salsas with Tortilla Chips.
Pic 2 - Slow Braised Chicken Tacos.
And obviously a pint of beer in summer is must. 🍺
Before going to any of the restaurants, I look for the food menu and the chicken tacos was on my list to try. And the other one was recommended by the person serving me food there. She was spot on with her suggestion, as the chips complimented my beer very well. I’ve tried these salsas and out of those 3, I really like Pico De Gallo. Other two were okay and one of them were too spicy to have. Coming to the main dish of the restaurant- Tacos. 🌮
As mentioned in the name, it was a slow braised chicken wrapped in shells with salads. Taco shells looked fresh and felt like it is a home made ones. Chicken on the other side had an amazing taste. It was juicy as well as boiled exactly it should be. It was spicy which bothered a little but I won’t mind having it another time.
All in all, it was a nice experience to visit the restaurant with a cool vibe and balcony outside.
Not to forget, they do serve water in a recycled tequila bottle which I have never seen before. Great initiative! ❤️

As a California native, and former Mexico inhabitant, my expectations for what constitutes ’good mexican food’ are quite high and rarely met in the U.K. These guys are KILLING IT. Delicious salsa, wonderful authentic tacos, and the verdita with the tequila was amazing. Just hoping their tequila options expand as I’m not a mezcal fan.
Found this place while having a look around Cargo 2, it looked so inviting we decided to stop for a bite to eat.
The staff are the loveliest people and so passionate about the food. It has an intimate feel to it, which we loved. For the outside seating, they had blankets and heaters to stave off the cold, which felt nice and cosy.
The food was delicious - we tried the fully loaded nachos and their current special of Lamb tacos. We also had to try their special dessert in celebration of dĂa del meurto. It sounded awesome and it didn’t disappoint.
For drinks, my hubby had a beer which they serve in a frozen glass. I tried the staff recommend drink of hibiscus martini - it was so good and would now be my recommendation to anyone going.
We loved our visit to Cargo Cantina and would highly recommend it to anyone asking.
The tortillas used for the tacos were a bit soggy, they felt as if they had been cooked in a microwave or left in a sealed box for too long but the taste was fine. I expected more for 9.5 given that they were tiny.
Service was great, very attentive and they accommodated for some dietary restrictions of a friend.
Fantastic food, great service, nice cocktails. Didn't get the ladies name who served us but she was amazing, friendly, memorised our whole order! and really helpful with Gluten allergy knowledge.
Great vibe, fantastic staff and yummy food! We had a fab visit to Cargo Cantina recently. They catered for all our dietary asks and quirky requests from young and old 🙂 A lovely evening with family and will definitely return 🌮🍸

Had a great experience when all 7 of us visited Cargo Cantina for drinks and food.
The staff were extra kind and found us 2 tables to accommodate all of us within 10 minutes.
Food was exceptional and so were their drinks!
We will definitely be visiting again. It would be nice to be able to book though.
Great tacos and frozen margaritas! Was very busy but they were able to fit 5 of us inside which was great. A little expensive for the portion size (ÂŁ8 for 2 tacos) but overall good experience and vibes
Great food and friendly staff!
The sharing tacos were a great option for a couple as gives a good opportunity to try lots on the menu. My favourite combination was the chicken, red cabbage and salsa verde, although all were delicious.
Chorizo side was great as well! Obviously good quality produce!
Only point of contention was that the meal from start to finish it was only 40 mins (slightly rushed) although saying this, it worked well for us as we were hungry!!
We would go back to try more of the menu.
Fabulous place! A must visit if you love good Mexican food. Seriously good, in fact some of the best I have had. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Highly recommended, especially the loaded nachos!
Buzzing place on the upper deck of the containers. Great burritos. Staff were unbelievable; even gave us a free pint after accidentally pouring too many. Recommend, will be coming back to try the tacos
Food and cocktails were all super good. I usually hate guacamole (controversial, I know) but the guac on the nachos was really good. Also had pork tacos which were also great and coconut beans. My friend said the vegan tacos weren’t the best, but I guess that’s what you get for trusting vegetables.
Had a lovely lunch here - food was really good quality and staff friendly. Gluten free options but unfortunately the tacos aren’t suitable for coeliacs however staff were knowledgable and offered alternatives.
It would be great if they could find a way to serve the tacos for coeliacs
Had the most incredible experience here. Got the sharing option between 3 - I’m vegetarian and they were able to cater for me. Waitress (I think her name was Mika?) was so warm and accommodating. Food was delicious! Will definitely be back
Nachos are a little on the smaller side, but the tacos and daily specials are great! Honestly they are fantastic, and i've been all over mexico this just hit so many spots.
Fish tacos were the highlight even if they are not my favorite.
