We always meander to The Glassboat for late night drinks. We love it. We consume the cocktail list and the lovely waitress will make them even if not listed and she doesn't have the full ingredients.... just like being abroad. We love it, love it, love it.
Quirky experiences always ensue... from the wash of passing boats surprising our guests or late night ski jumpers, seriously off piste and ski-ing up the Bristol cobbled streets... a look to the river or a look to the city always provides us with entertainment in a very relaxed laid back atmosphere.
Found this online via some tourist information websites 'good restaurants in bath'. Undeniably it has excellent view, situated in the river. Portion size was quite small for the main dish, so might need to order some starters or dessert.
Absolutely outstanding customer services, everyone was super friendly, welcoming and happy. Really put a smile on our faces.
Food was superb. Pork fell apart and the crackling was just insane. Crisp and delicious. The hake was so incredible, everything was phenomenally yummy.
100% recommended to anyone who is looking for a lovely evening meal, amazing atmosphere, great location, excellent food and customer service.
Amazing location! Best place for romantic dinner. I took my husband for a birthday date, and he was so excited. Service was lovely, helpful and prompt. Even though the food is not cheap, the quality stands out! I had a seafood stew, which was light and flavoursome. And for the dessert we had creme brulee and chocolate fondant. Both were delicious!
Delicious food, we had the Sunday roast, the pork was delicious along with the cheesy leeks! Amazing. Atmosphere is lovely and something a bit different. Staff were very attentive and pleasant. Would return
Fantastic food and a great location. The Glassboat is a must-visit for anyone in Bristol. We got one of the taxi boats that pitches up just outside so it's really easy and fun to get to. The Glassboat is literally on the water giving you amazing views. The food is fantastic with a focus on local produce. We went for the lobster and crab specials and they were too drawer. Very reasonable prices as well for you get. Couldn't recommended it more highly.
In all the years I've been living in bristol and seen the glass boat I have never visited this place, my first impression is the staff welcomed you and are very friendly, the lay out of the place is very nice, where we sat we could see the outside surroundings. The food was very nice, I had starters which was ok the main meal which was cod meal, presentation was very good and teasted nice but the choice in the sweet department was limited. Price wise you get what you pay for.
Would I visit again! Yes very good standard both staff and establishment.
Consistently phenomenal food, cooked with up most care and perfection! Always super fresh and tasty. Can't fault the service either. If you are a foodie this is the place to visit in Bristol!
Many years since I've been here. This was the go-to place in the 1980's financial services heydays. I brought many a client, insurance agent and even the occasional mistress to the restaurant - or anyone I wanted to impress.
Business breakfasts were de rigour in the day and starting the working day with a salubrious early meal, usually augured a successful day.
Although they no longer do breakfasts, the lunches are even better than remembered. Now with my wife (those halcyon days long passed) she enjoyed a ham hock patè starters and mussels in white wine main - I opted for a sublime tomatoe & Greek yogurt starter and a spicey chicken main. All this washed down with a well chilled Domains De Ménard 2015. Superb.
The interior of the boat, once a barge lugging timber up the Severn, has had an agreeable makeover since my last visit, it's more open now and the furniture is better. The service was convivial and attentive and behoves me not to leave it so long next time.
Great location and ideal place for a romantic dinner. French cuisine finely cooked, staff very polite and prices medium-high but considering the location and food quality, I think they are fair. Bristol gin&tonic was delicious. Fresh fish well cooked and nice selection of cheeses, I would only recommend to serve cheese in a nicer and more appealing way. Anyway they tasted really nice. I would recommend it.
I decided to stop for lunch now that places are open for outside seating. The food was marvelous and it was nice to be out talking to people again. Will definitely be going back.

Very nice food. Attentive yet subtle service. I wouldn't order the sweet breads again as they were deep fried but the stuffed rabbit leg was tasty

DETAIL
Another visit to this restaurant and it, again, lived up to the recommendation we had made to the friends who had joined us. Big windows on this moored boat gives you good views of this busy part of the river in Bristol. (Toilets are down steep stairway; small but very clean)
From the phone call to book the table to the final goodbye after the meal the staff were genuinely welcoming, pleasant, efficient and helpful, aided by their confident knowledge of the menu. When food allergies were mentioned they dealt with it quickly, easily and confidently. The service throughout the meal was excellent and relaxed.
The menu offered a good, small range at reasonable prices, enhanced by a fixed price 2 or 3 course menu with a reasonably good range of dishes but, understandably, not available in the evening.
Portion sizes were sensible for all of our choices and all dishes were clean and well presented. Hot food was delivered on warmed plates. Good range of soft and alcoholic drinks. No J2Os here; good fruit juices instead.
Chose from the Prix Fixe menu. Smoked trout rillettes for starters was delicious. The main course steak frites (£2 supplement) was a perfectly cooked small steak. A taste of the roast chicken with tarragon sauce showed that to be equally as good - the sauce was noteworthy. The chocolate mousse for dessert was like silk; making the whole meal worth the word 'excellent'.
With good value-for-money dishes and a lovely setting this is a must for the traveller visiting Bristol and a must try for locals.
Loved it! It was my first time eating fish and chips EVER and I was elated. So yummy! I went back a few more times while I was in Bristol.
We ordered the 3 course meal. The appetizers were sad and lacked taste. The lamb main dish was amazing and the strawberry dessert was to die for! I'd visit this place again just to eat that strawberry dessert.
Such an adorable ambience, rich food and spot on service. We were passing by, recognised the restaurant and immediately decided to take our chances on a Saturday evening without a previous booking. The staff was absolutely lovely and accommodating! Our waiter was French and did really run an that extra mile to make sure we've got the best experience. Myself and my partner ordered the lobster deal and it was cooked to perfection! Also, their petit gateau (chocolate foundant) is to die for! Will certainly get back again next time we visit Bristol!
Fantastic French Brasserie in the heart of Bristol.
Dining on a boat with the sparkling shining of the river is amazing. Seems to be in Paris
Excellent vegan tofu fish with vegan tatar sauce, chips could have been crispier but would still get again 💕
What a brilliant place. On the river in a boat. The service was excellent and the food delicious. We went for the Prix Fixe menu which had a choice of three for each course. We didn't mind having an early dinner. Have to order before 1830 but did not feel as if we should eat and leave early. Highly recommended.
