Excellent food, and excellent service. Had the lamb and creamy chicken for dinner. Absolutely delightful. Waiter recommended everything, and it was all excellent. Not super spicy either, but the right amount. The restaurant is well decorated, and the service was excellent.

We had a fantastic first visit to Nutmeg recently. The menu is great without any of the usual "old favourites" to stop you trying something new. The guinea fowl starter was exceptional as was the cauliflower side dish. The staff really made it though - knowledgeable and enthusiastic. In the coolest part of Clifton too with plenty of bars for drinks before, and after, if you can fit any more in!

Our first visit to Nutmeg tonight (4 of us). This was a Wednesday night at 6.30 pm and the restaurant was already very busy. A nice greeting and taken immediately to our table in the upstairs area. Drinks menu was good, I had a very nice Kevlar beer. The others had different cocktails all of which were thoroughly enjoyed. Great poppadoms and three lovely chutneys, a spicy mango, a mint based one and a lovely tomato one. Menu though small made selection difficult as everything sounded delicious. We chose a seasonal fish curry (today was bass, two opted for one of the lamb curries and I went for a duck curry, not often seen in curry dishes. The mains were so good and accompanied with fabulous Nan bread and saffron rice. What a me as l, we all raved about it as did friends who coincidentally were at the next table. Good wine list as well. Not the cheapest curry but probably the best I have had and will be returning soon. Thanks Nutmeg.

Fabulous place. Service was fast, informative and attentive (I particularly love when you don't have to keep asking for water refills, it just happens!). Started with the paneer and onion bajis which were both excellent, and for mains we ordered a load of curries and shared them around. There wasn't one that wasn't delicious, so don't be afraid of choosing something a bit different! Be warned some of them were more spicy than expected. There's a surprising amount of seating upstairs and around the corner so weekday walk-ins should be fine, but suggest booking in advance for Fri/Sat.

My son took me and a group of friends here for my 70th birthday bash in April 2023. We had previously frequented the restaruant when it was a very traditional Indian restaurant under a different name and ownership. It took me a while to get adjusted to the modern design and environment. The only complaint I would have is that it feels like they have expanded the restaurant adding more seating that made if feel a bit cramped compared to the way it was about 10 years ago. The interior may have been expanded yet the menu was minimised, reflecting a more fine dining feel that before. Once I was able tor wrap my head around the changes I saw the true offerings of Nutmeg. The service was good considering how busy they were. Which is always a good sign in a restaurant. The pompadons were fresh and the relishes were freshly made. Allo yummy. Three of us ordered a king prawn dish that was absolutely succulent. After our meal the waiter brought out my birthday cake and served me complementary ice cream. All and all it was a delightful experience and we plan to visit Nutmeg again.

Excellent value for money, delicious food and perfect service. It was very special but surprisingly not over priced and the staff were friendly and professional. We will definitely be back! Thanks to the chefs and all involved. There possibly could be more non meat options please

We had a fantastic evening at Nutmeg in Clifton. It's a busy restaurant that mamges to fit seating over two floors and a covered outdoor space. The food was first-rate, Nutmeg has an imaginative menu with a few less usual options, and it's all cooked perfectly and presented well. The Bhaji's to start and Biryani for main were excellent as was the Sweet Potato vegetarian dish. Plenty of friendly staff so service matches the quality of food.

5/5! Fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable staff and delicious food. Prawn curry (main)was excellent, and so were all the starters. They have also an appealing selection of wine and craft beers. The place is in a good location and nicely decorated. We went there in a group of 5 and had to wait ca 20 minutes -so good to make a booking in advance. WE definitely enjoyed it.

Food has been excellent on the two occasions I have visited. Everyone spoke about the food weeks later. Service the second time was excellent first time not so great but after we raised our concerns they went above and beyond to make up for the issues we had first time around. I would eat here again for sure. The biryanis and duck are just two of the dishes we loved.

Incredible food, really lovely staff and a bright colourful atmosphere. Two of our friends who had been to India said it was some of the most authentic Indian food they'd had outside of India. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and were ready to give us recommendations or advice at any point. We came home with smiles on our faces, full bellies and a doggy bag to look forward to enjoying the next day!

Have been here a couple of times nice, both similar experiences. A few of the staff have the ‘Clifton Vibe’ bit pretentious but I think some people like that?!…not us! The food was great, but I would be helpful to have a heat guide to know how spicy the dishes are- a few have been too spicy to enjoy! The only other thing is cleanliness, the ladies toilet was thick of dust and a bit off putting, just hoped the kitchen wasn’t like this!

Nutmeg kindly seated us for a last minute booking on a Saturday night. Glad we called them, great meal and a good atmosphere. I highly recommend the paneer starter and I was very happy to find gulab jamuns on the menu too. There are a number of dietary options. I would happily return.

First time trying Nutmeg we really enjoyed our experience. Atmosphere was relaxed going for early tea. The 1.5 hour restriction on the table was fine for the two of us, may feel rushed if we were there as a large party for an event. The onion bhajis were the tastiest I've had very fresh spices, the sauce was a little on the sweet side for us but still very enjoyable. The dips for the poppadums seemed freshly made and tasty also. My first time having a slow baked lamb biryani and was not disappointed, tender meat and nicely spiced again, portion size was plenty with the rice and baked under a nan bread lid. My partner enjoyed his chicken labadar which is a mild curry. The cost of the meal was on par with most other places we've eaten in Bristol not expensive. I would go again and try out different meals.
