I've only ever bought take-away from this place, because the interior is pretty uninspiring, which means I've avoided the 'service charge' issues I've read so much about on various review sites.
The South Indian-themed cuisine means there's lots of interesting ingredients in many of their dishes, like chunks of coconut and slices of green banana. The flavours are very different to those I've tasted at other British Indian restaurants. The dosa pancakes are huge and a complete meal in themselves, while the various veg side dishes are really tasty and unusual - especially the okra, aubergine and pumpkin ones. Every time I go back I try to try something new, and with an extensive menu it can be tough to make decisions.
Highly recommended for take-away, but probably wouldn't bother to eat-in. If you spend more than £20 you get a big bottle of beer for free.
Got take away from here at the weekend and it was fantastic, a nice change from your average curry house Krishna's inn is a Keralen/South Indian restaurant. Very interesting vegetable side dishes such as beetroot with mustard seed and spinach with coconut - the poppadums were a delight, no lime pickle but an unusual selection of pickles made for a tasty starter - it's reasonably priced and very fresh tasting - will definitely use again!
You've got to love a good Indian Restaurant. Well I do anyway.
I had quite a bad experience of a Bristol Indian in the centre of town so I was eager to meet my friend here last week in my pursuit of a reliable place to fulfil my curry and nan bread related needs.
I was impressed with the service from start to finish, they didn't want us in and out within an hour and were happy for us to take our time. It's kind of like a top of the range Indian, though me and my friend ordered quite similar dishes when they arrived they tasted distinctly different. The waiter that served us was more than helpful in suggesting dishes we might like from our likes and dislikes!
All this comes at a price, if you want a cheap, bog-standard, no better than what you could cook yourself sort of curry then go to a Weatherspoons, want a nice, Indian meal, then come here!
Ok. I'd really like to give this place 5*s. But the last time I went there, it wasn't as good as it always has been. I'm wondering if there has abeen a change in managementI hope not! Let's presume it was a one-off.
This is the bees-knees! This is tip-top South Indian Cuisine. And completely authentic, I am delighted to say. This is exactly the kind of food you can eat in India - delicious, fresh and interesting food. Typical dishes are there -dosas, idli, sambar, dry green beans with coconut. But it's difficult to get the full range of dishes they offer here when you're eating in India. I'd put this on a par with Kastoori's in Tooting, London, which is Indian-Kenyan food.
If the management/chef has not changed, this could well be the best Indian restaurant in Bristol, though I haven't been to them all! :D
As a seasoned visitor to South India and Kerala in particular, and always eating at the places in which the locals eat, I have been generally disappointed by the lack of genuine keralan restaurants in the UK. Krishna's is not only genuine, i.e. it is run by Keralans, not bangladeshis for example, but the food is as authentic as I've had in Kerala and the malabar perottas (kerala perotta/paratha/barotta) are out of this world!
Krishnaa' Inn is a south Indian styled restaurant that serves traditional southern Indian style food in a very pleasant and friendly environment.
Very popular with locals I found Friday to be the best day when I used to work near by as it used to be "Dosa day" (not sure if it still is as I haven't been in a while) where they serve such delectable pancakes and dishes such as idli, sambar and dry green beans with coconut. As you can see, this isn't your typical curry house with larger swilling booze hounds. You won't find lamb boona or chicken tikka masalla on the menu. What you will find is non greasy, light and thoroughly delicious Indian cooking, done with more than a nod a wink to the slightly more affluent and experimental middle classes.
My partner and I went to Krishna's for my birthday celebration in February as we both like South Indian food and he misses the cooking he grew up with. He's a near-vegetarian, I'm a near-carnivore, and both of us avoid gluten; but the menu offered each of us several options. He had pakora to start and dosa as main; I had some sort of pancake (can't remember the name) to start and a lamb dish for the main course. Everything we ate and drank was good.
The service was acceptable - not polished, but sufficiently obliging and efficient. We arrived at about 7:30 on a Saturday night and found the restaurant busy but not full.
The clientele was mixed - several couples and pairs of friends, an Asian family, a large group of young people. Decor was basic but inoffensive (less bad than you might expect from the very blue exterior).
Overall, a good evening meal for a reasonable price.
I work just around the corner from Krishna's and it is a great place to eat! Friday lunchtimes are usually 'Dosa days' which means the office going for one of their amazing, and very reasonably priced too. They are very accommodating, and always friendly. The birianis are also great, and have great flavour. the only thing I would say is that a service charge is always added onto the bill, but in non-legible handwriting, just be aware! (they deserve the tip anyway)!
I had an absolutely delightful Friday evening at this place, savoring a bowl of Rasam that brought back nostalgic memories of my hometown. The flavors in this dish were truly outstanding, with each ingredient harmonizing perfectly, particularly the spices that played a pivotal role. The beverages were expertly crafted, and the coco mango punch, in particular, satisfied my sweet tooth cravings flawlessly. And oh, the South Indian coffee! It was a remarkable experience, exuding the authentic aroma of coffee that instantly captivated my senses. The service was impeccable, and the dishes were promptly prepared. Without a doubt, I will definitely be returning to this place in the future!
Went here for a quick lunch and thought "it's on the triangle, how good can it be?" Turns out it can be amazing! Freshly prepared, with great flavours and amazing spices. I don't think I've ever had a biryani before and I think it's my new favourite dish. Another thing I loved was the lime pickle. In so many restaurants it's basically some Pataks that's been spooned into a serving dish. This was properly made and tasted like an actual lime pickle should taste.
If you want great tasting Keralan food, you have to try this place!
We had lunch from Krishna's in and it's a quiet place in Bristol city. The food price was so affordable and tasty for our tongue.
We felt a bit of a delay in the serving of food. Except everything was perfect and ok
Feels nice coming back here
Got here after long time , feels really good to be back to one of my fav restaurants
Really enjoyed eating here
Third day in a row at Krishnas, I have just been to Krishnas again, such wonderful dosa’s and chutney as at home, the music reminds me of my temple visits…As of my experience food was really tasty no complaints about the food and the staff are really friendly and have a good knowledge of the menu , i would recommend to have Avial and eruserry , bringing kerala food to bristol thank you for that.
wonderful dosas and they are consistently good
Thank you krishnas-inn for allowing us to have dosas in bristol
My friend from Uni had come over and we wanted to try some authentic Kerala food, and I must admit, it reminded us of food from home. Definitely recommend to try out the Kalan recipe with rice and the special Veg Kottu Parotha. Omgg, just love the food here and can't wait to be back 😋
Food is really delicious here, I get all taste of the flavors of India 😋
I have enjoyed a very delicious Masala Dosa and a cup of Indian Masala Chai in Krishna Inn. More importantly, a young man, Nikhil Reddy, who has passionately served me, he’s absolutely excellent in his services. I do recommend to eat in Krishna Inn to get the authentic foods of the God’s own country, Kerala, India.
I always get the vegetable Thali consisting of curries, rice, chutney, poppadoms, bread, soup and a sweet dessert. It's really delicious and well priced. Friendly staff who can tell you all about the different ingredients. Reccomend!!
I've been there several time for past 5 years and never been disappointed. The south Indian food is authentic especially their Green banana side dish. Everything else is really good (from Vegetarian to Non-veg dish) and you can tell that it's freshly made. I can definitely vouch for their food. 2 weeks ago we were there again on a Saturday, and we received very very delicious food with amazing treatment. Yes, on weekends you may have to wait a bit long for the food but when it does come to your table it's always worth the plate. So mayB order starters then main, I always do it this way so I have patience for the wait of my main which has always been worth it. Their Mango lassi is different from the north and you can taste the actual different. Well done Team Krishna Inn, Keep up the effort. We'll definitely be coming again, no doubt!
Today had Onam food Amazing food very tasty and not expensive
Reasonable price.not to long to wait excellent service feel like eating at home and traditional 🌟🌟
Excellent food and service not to spicy very orthotic food South Indian and kerala food amazing classical music done miss this excellent food
Amazing authentic South Indian home style food. Go for the chef specials!!! Not your average Indian restaurant !!
Really liked it. Very friendly and laid-back place. I ordered a vegetarian dish and the vegetables in it were a bit simple and few. The bread I ordered was great!
Loved eating here when visiting Bristol. The masala dosa was amazing (of course) and they were really helpful recommending other vegan dishes. Great music too 🌸
Authentic Indian taste to the food. Indians looking for proper food in bristol, this place will surely become your favorite.
The food at the restaurant was quite enjoyable, but the wait time for the food was an issue. Customers had to wait over 1.2 hours after placing their orders, leading to frustration and anger. The restaurant owner may want to consider hiring more staff to help expedite the food preparation process and to avoid similar situations in the future. The lone server/attendant was doing his best and was at no fault, but he got overwhelmed because customers were understandably frustrated. Overall, the food quality was good, but experience was dampened by the long wait time.
Fantastic food and lovely people. The dhosa were delicious, the main dishes delightful and we were well looked after by Nikel. We will definitely return!
